Les, i am learning more about this as well. I play a couple world war 2 video games about all this. Certently alot of Japanese started trouble and such. Question, Did you ever you know... have to go to the Philapenes (not sure how to spell it corectly) for anything? PLease right back soon. Take care of yourself now :)
My parents lived through the depression and I was born in 1937, at the tail end! Then WWII hit and the economy steadily became better! My mother always said that I brought thenm good luck, but it was really the war! My mother was a very frugal person because of the depression and I learned a lot from her about making magical things to eat with leftovers, for example!
I am absolutely captivated by these stories! Thank you, once again, for sharing them!
Finally no negative comments, Les, thank you so much for sharing your experience before the Great Depression, you are truely inspiring. I would DIE to meet you <3
Im Hooked on Les just discovered them today, I love the fact that he talks about the Horse had to go out to work(tractors not all that commen then) and the harvesting crew (his dad) came from farm to farm, no doubt they were steam thrashing machines, and the running colt stopping to check out his little frind who he accidentialy stepped on. This is such a treasure!!
Thank you for sharing your stories. My grand father (all from my mom's side)was in the British Duffran navy and my Great grandma's cousin was Colonel Cheeda of India as well. My mom always told me war stories passed down and i loved them...if its not too much to ask, how did it feel to actually be part of the Pacific Theater and would you rather have fought in the European theater or the African Theater. Thank You -Cye
I love these stories about the depression years. Daddy told us about how it was in Georgia. His father was a forman for the Georgia Power Co. and they were moving from town to town building the power lines. They had money coming in but most did not...I love that you have so many stories we haven't heard yet. Can't wait. Love you. Deborah
Thank you so much for letting us in on your life with your stories. We need more people like you to give us insite about the past. I`m a firm believer in how can we go forward if we do not know where we came from in the past...I salute you sir...Keep the stories coming please....
Great job Les. I look forward to your videos. Each time I log on to youtube and see that you have posted another video...I get excited, grab a cup of steaming hot coffee..kick back and enjoy. Keep em coming Les.
I love how the desire for young folks to get out of the hometown never changes. If my own husband had gone back home after his first year of college, as he nearly had to do, I never would have met him.
Les, I wonder how families like yours and the Spencers stayed in touch back then. Was there a lot of physical distance between homes? Were there regular gatherings? I imagine that just dropping by wouldn't have been feasible.
My name is Darren and I am from the United Kingdom. Thankyou for sharing your stories Les you truely are an interesting man. I have a question about your experiances; Do you have any storys involving the British back in WW2? If so I would love to hear them. I wish you the best of health. Thankyou again

I've just learned that you passed on, as I read in the comments from other videos.
Still, if you have a moment or so, you can still check in to see what people are saying about you now, Jan. 2009.
Still thanking you and appreciating you!
