Do none of you understand simple science? Water, even though it's a liquid, compresses when it is struck. Why do you think it hurts to do a belly flop or why do you think water splashes when something hits it? If it didn't compress, everything would pass directly into it regardless of the speed. If you run fast enough, you can take advantage of the compression and run on it.
