at 31 seconds, the girl in the front looks like she doesnt wanna be there on the left that is shes just clappin and think ok i wanna go home lol still pretty cute tho for the 60's
Shinding oli suosittu yhdysvaltalainen nuorison tv-ohjelma 1960-luvun keskivaiheilla,,,,, bändit ja laulajat esiintyivät, ja kansa villiintyi monasti ihan aidosti. Bay City Rollers kierrätti Keep on dancingin 1970-luvun alkajaisiksi....
Shindig-must have been at the Homeliest Girls in America pageant! Band ain't anything to write home about, but in those days that's why you joined a band-to get some notice from the ladies! Got to admit they could take the andikadikadika to the last 1/64th or 1/128th before kicking in-the garage goobers couldn't pull that 1/64th off. Roll that organ!. Love those Beatles/mixing bowl haircuts! Keep on posting!!
At that time Larry Rasberry was often compared to Rick Derringer of The McCoys. I guess because because they both had hits come out at the same time, they looked alike, and both were the leaders of their band.
The boys look like they were having a blast. Did not realize this was the Gentrys. Their version of Cinnamon Girl is awesome. Ah Shindig. I remember it well.
how I love the instrumental part from sec. 45 to 49 .... great...great.... and all is "natural" music .... clear and wonderfull .... I have bought the single-vinyl when I have been 16 .... wonderfull time and no party without this hit !!!!!
Larry Raspberry was the lead singer...and there was the notorious Jimmy Hart...all the guys attended Treadwell High School...loved it when they played at the YMCA dances...and then on George Klines Talent Party.
@yellowbrick99 And just think those dancers are about 70 now and someone's grandmother and even great grandmother. I think it would be so cool to know my grandmother had been a go-go dancer as a teen/twenty-something. Of course, imagine Keith Richards (Rolling Stones if anyone out there doesn't already know) as Gramps! Gives you something else to think about!!
@ronaldt491 Sobering thought eh? All those nubile young girls are now Grannies. (Oh well, I am a GreatGrandpa now and not yet 60.) Glory Days, indeed.
Great record. And the flip side on the 45, "Make Up Your Mind", was one of the most stupendous mid-tempo garage rockers ever made. The Gentrys went on to record a couple of LPs for MGM, then on to Bell Records and the Sun label, although by that time they had undergone quite a few personnel changes. Their records are uniformly excellent, though.
OMG! Forgot how much I loved this----at the dances. Danced til my belly hurt! See the GoGo Girls with their GoGo Boots! Shindig was thee show then too.
Oh yes America at it's best for sure. (50's were very special too)
OMG, I cant bleave that is Jimmy"The Mouth Of The South"Hart he looks so young in this group. I was not even alive yet & I only know of this group by him cause I am a huge wrestling fan.

Great song.....Love the Gentrys. But what rocks my world is the frenetic camera work that matches the crazed atmosphere of the show.

I remember watching this show as a little kid in the 60's.
Besides the fab music I loved the Shindig dancers.
We called them "go-go girls".
They were the sexiest most exciting thing in the world.
Those moves at :40 and at 1:14 still blow me away.

1. This song sounds more like 1955 than 1965. Still, it is a gas, it is the most, and damn anyone who thinks it isn't fit for a shindig.
2. For the love of Almighty God, bring back go-go dancers!
3. I did not know that Al Pacino could sing.
