We go out of our way to stay away from these goobers when buying property. The idea of individual freedom must be cast to the side whenever you buy into one of their areas. So glad congress is starting to limit the scope and power of these wacko's.

This chick obviously doesn't understand WHY people are complaining about HOAs. When I was looking to the buy the house we own now...I made sure there was NO HOA. I didn't want a lot of people looking over our shoulders. We are miltiary and have lived on base before, we did NOT want to continue having people fine us for not mowing the grass every week. If it is illegal to drive a golf cart on public streets, then the HOA should notify the police. They have no authority to fine her for something she is doing on a public street. If in fact golf carts are illegal, her fines should go to the town or the city, not the HOA.

The myth of HOA's protecting property values is just that, a myth.

FACT: HOA's depend on a Board of Directors (volunteers) to run the community. Most people who are attracted to working on a board are inept wackos who enjoy lording it over their neighbors. The inherent folly of such an arrangement often leads to all forms of abuse, conflict, resentment, and ultimately lawsuits which hurt every homeowner. HOAs are cash-cows for attorneys and self-serving property management companies.

HA, my house still has not lost value and I have no HOA, the HOA houses have lost thousands in value. We have chickens, cars, FAMILIES, a few goats, a couple front yard mechanics, bunch of nice landscapes. Thing about my area, we are a community of individuls and happy famlies. We in the past 2+ years we have yet to have a domestic disruption, we don't see cop cars. We OWN!! are houses...
