Like steroid use would stop people from buying season tickets and tickets for games. People that think steroids is sports are wrong need to stfu, if they mean it, stop supporting athletes at their events.
At least hes being real though as of now. i mean, if your star player is juiced up and winning games it is what it is in sports your position is replaceable but in the long run your mentality is fd up
Hey, Tony! No matter what anyone else says to me about you will make me see you in the wrong view again. Thank you for being open about your issues and demons! I was upset that Green Bay didn't take Barry Sanders. I did think that maybe you could become a legitimate offensive tackle, but it never happened--that's why so many people saw you as a "bust." I'm PROUD of you for being a man and sharing yourself. As a guy, it's hard to open up, but I'm glad to know you for what you did. Thanks
I've done all the same gear as Tony, never had a health problem in my life. The facts are, Testosterone is a naturally occurring substance in the human body. All that happens is natural testosterone goes down when the body identifies to much already in the body (Balls Atrophy, but return to normal after the cycle).
They give steroids to post surgery patients, but they like to keep you in fear.
Man, I used to laugh along with the rest of the Packers and NFL fans at Tony Mandarich, but after this, I truly respect what he's done by exposing his inner and past demons. Damn Tony, you've got my nod.
He's a pretty decent fellow when you strip away all the "stuff" that comes with fame..no wonder people get REALLY screwed up when money and power enter into the picture.
For this man to have enough humility to overcome his pride and come forth and admit his faults shows me alot about him and the person he's become. He deserves forgiveness. What he did was wrong, but, in the big picture, life isn't about football! It's about becoming the best person you can be and making a difference for others. Mandarich chose to not stay bitter but get better. Something most people can't allow their pride to overcome. Well done Tony!
I've always had a very negative opinion of Mandarich over the years. He was a pompus jerk for a long time! He deserved all the criticism he received. I do believe people change and can reform. I think he's proven how humble he is by not making this about 'HIM". Not doing it for the money and putting the blame on him and not playing the victim. I have a great deal of respect for this man for choosing the path he's taken. More people should swallow their pride and move on in life!
I couldn't view the entire interview b/c my computer is acting funny right now, but I liked what I saw.
You mean "Inside the NFL" devoted (at least) a 9-minute chunk of time to an in-depth feature? Very impressive. I don't think the features on HBO's "Inside the NFL" were that long.
I wish I could get Showtime - but Comcast makes it somewhat inconvenient to switch out the premium channels (I think they do this to suck as much money out of us as possible).
hes not very honest..im a 100% sure he did use steroids during the league..just like (almost) all of them do..i mean just look at them and listen to their deep voices..they have to take them so they can keep up with the others who also take them...he seems to be afraid of admitting it the nfl has a lot of power and might get him in big trouble
deep voices would have nothing to do with them being over 6 feet tall and 200+ pounds? These are big men to begin with steroids or not so I don't think deep voices wouldn't be natural
offensive linemen like Mandarich are almost always 300 pounds +
Please, even before he admitted anything it was well known around the league that tony was nothing like the monster he was at MSU. I think even some lame story of him catching a parasite while he was hunting was an excuse for his lousy physique and play after he got to Green Bay. Deep Voice? Come'on, my grampa has a deep voice and he aint stackin haha
With all due respect man, if you compare his physique in the college and the nfl, the difference is jaw dropping! All of his hard work had almost vanished!
@snowman3580 Actually, it's easy to think he wasn't on steroids because his bulk went down, his tone went down, his performance went down, and, the bigger picture, was that the NFL had much more stringest testing at the time. The NCAA still remains behind the NFL in drug testing and for all the wrong reasons.. MONEY.
@Punk4Life408 Watching him getting his butt kicked by Reggie White showed he was not the same player as he was in Michigan St. Poor feet work he had when he came to the pros with his drug addiction. But to be soft on Tony Reggie White made alot of Olineman look very bad. I thought he played great with Indy. Tony is a brave soul. I could not call him a total bust. Green Bay should of traded him when he said those things about the Packers fans. I dont think they hate him as much today after this
When this guy first came on to the scene, I thought he was just a joke of a human because of how he presented himself. I have much more respect for the man today for admiting his problems and coming out and giving details about them. I hope that alot of youger atheletes get a chance to watch this video and see what can become of you when you take the wrong path in life. Thank you tony for speaking out about it.
Very insightful interview of Mr. Mandarich. It just goes to show, with so much money involved what youngsters will do to themselves to get into the big leagues. Steroids at first, and then with the fame, money and pressure, succumb to drugs and alcohol.
Good interview, glad to see you got your life on track. We all do things when we are young that we wish we could take back, but thats part of being young and inexperienced.Good luck in the future to you and your family.

This will be Clay Matthews years from now. They learn from the mistakes of those that proceed them. Thats why they can get away with it longer now.

He should be a HS football coach. He could build(the right way) an all pro offensive lineman

Steroids will always be a problem in sports. MAybe new "drugs" will be invented, but there will always be something to cheat.
