I think Maradona is the most overrated player ever. He was great obviously but very overrated. Laudrup is probably one of the most underrated at the same time. I also have to note that many people seem to bash on Zidane under Laudrup videos. Laudrup might have been better but there's no need to dis Zidane. He was also a wonderful footballer and a real master of ball-control.
The only two problems for Laudrup was his lack of selfishness and the fact he came from a small country. That makes it harder to get recognition.

I think it's a bit redundant to be discussing who invented what. So what if Laudrup did this before Zidane and so what if Maradona did this before Laudrup. Neither player dribbling with the ball or playing the deep pass. When Ronaldinho did his amazing elastico that particular move had been around for more than 30 years - perhaps even longer. He still exited everyone when he did it and that, to me, is what it's all about.

and people fukin say zidane invented it lol , laudrup is better than pele and maradona , i mean to be honest if laudrup had the kinda teammates that pele and maradona had they woulda won anything , everytime i watched the danish national team play with laudrup , he creates countless chances for them but they miss and kick it over the bar

I was 19 years old when i watched Maradona at the 1986 world cup making a fool out of everybody else nobody could take the ball from him and for his clubs he was the best player ever.

Maradona did it before Laudrup to, but he was a great player ! Best scandinavian ever, no doubt and a Barca legend, but he didn't have the class of Pele and Maradona : P

They were different players, Pele, Maradona and Laudrup, and peaked in different decades. I quote Beckenbauer: "Pele was best in the 60's, Cruyff in the 70's, Maradona in the 80's and Laudrup in the 90's". Each of them had their own trademarks, and I think it only makes sense to say, that they belong to a very small group of best players ever.

But I think you need to be at the same level as those you evaluate. Would you rather have Mozart or some guy on the street to evaluate a composer for you?
That's why I listen to Beckenbauer. And Romario for that matter, who says Laudrup is the fourth best ever. And Raul who places Laudrup above anyone he has played with including Zidane, Ronaldo, Figo etc.

Every player has their favourites, so just because Raul says he favours Laudrup over Zidane, doesnt mean Laudrup is better LOL. And that clip you have is I guess is between 1994-1996 or such, there are clips of Zidane when he was a teenager doing it while playing in cannes between 1988-1992. So get your facts right next time.

@LaudruplLaudrup from about 98 to 2006 Zidane and Ronaldo ruled football...So maybe the 90's was Laudrups decade but the following belonged to those two...and also, you quote Raul and Beckenbauer in support of Laudrup, but what do other greats have to say?...That being said, I think Laudrup is fantastic and should not be forgotten in the world of football.

@reziboy100 .you are so wrong. 98-2006 in nowhere close ot being zidanes era. ronaldo was never the same after his injuries. zidane wasnt the best playmaker in serie a in his prime for gods sake.totti played him off the park in euro 2000,and henry,ronaldinho,nedved ,etc were the ebst players from 2002 onwards till about 07.zidane didnt deserve the award in 2003, nedved and henry deserved it more.i can go on but you get my point.zidane world class, but very overrated.

@LaudruplLaudrup My opinion is that Zidane is better. Laudrup is unbelievably talented, but Zidane just seemed to command every game that he played in. But like you said, the opinion of Raul and Beckenbauer mean way more than anything I could ever say. But it doesn't hurt to comment on this great video :)

It is hard to compare those players... Pele and Maradona were great as individuals, but Laudrup lifted an entire team.. He made all of his teammates better...

Iam a big Denmark fan and thank god for youtube - I have managed to see so many great clips of Michael Laudrup and the Danish Team.
Laudrup was one of worlds great players - just look at all the clips on him - 1st Class.

you can't put these football players together. They are two very different players. Maradona was amazing in what he did, but only amazing when things when right for him, else he were a very selfish player. He didn't had the same understanding for the play as Laudrup did. Maradona were more like a artist.

Maradona lavede den i hvert fald også i midt firserne. Tag bare flip flop som folk går helt amok over hele tiden når ronaldinho og Cr. Ronaldo laver den.
