  • I showed this to my wife, who loved it, said this she heard this as a special kind of post-Holocaust music, that tries to summon transcendence and hope even after the death of any conventional idea of God, still trying to maintain humanity's essential goodness and longing. That's what she said.

  • @echadmeir your wife seems to be studying philosophy... my impression was more artistic, I even tried to distract from philosophy, human lifes and dissolve in the beauty of eternal nature and it worked

  • Iceland is My dreamland, a place out of this world, in a better planet. I love this sound.

  • I read that long long time ago the warm people from Iceland gave that name to their country to keep away and confuse the barbarians, so that way, they wont invade their home. I do not know if that is true or not, but something makes me think that....

  • @Tigreloaded interesting theory. must have worked, since most of the icelanders can trace their families back as far as 600 years or more. amazing part of the planet, no doubt.

  • those were best eight minutes & twenty two seconds of my day!

He does'nt say anything : he sings in vonlenska, an imaginary language created by the band. The use vonlenska in several songs from Agaetys Byrjun and in the whole album ()

  • trust me i'll die to this song

  • i feel like i should go get one of those sweaters

  • @gummygummygumdrops3 They're a bit scratchy, but very warm and pretty. If you want to look for one, they're called lopapeysur (nom. singular: lopapeysa). Be warned: they can be super-expensive new (they're hand-knit).

  • sigur ros cured my sypilis....

  • Sigur Ros almost saves me from a bizarre situation. I was raped by a nazi when I was a child, this nazi hypnotized me so I couldn't remember. But then I remembered and Sigur Ros was the soundtrack of this bizarre experience.

  • @87nicoh Shut up, jagoff.

  • <3n all the blonde people. :)

  • @princesslolasluv

  • @wexenhex I know. I'm Norwegian, so I fully approve of the blondeness/Scandinavian-ness.

  • @princesslolasluv

do you LIVE in Norway? ive always wanted to visit scandinavia.

  • this is incredible. just 163.603 views... i thought we should teach this to our children, this is where the history of music brought us to.

i don't abhor other musical genres, but this is pure intellectuality in sound

try listening to this reading the Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche. you'd probably understand the real meaning of... everything.

  • By the way: Super Saiyan Amiina. at 7:37

  • I can die right now beacuse I know I won't see anything as beatiful as this in my whole life.

  • Sigur ros make that all faces upon their music seem angels

  • Watched a few vids from this dvd now and what a great idea making a festival in a valley with amazing natural reverbs. Sigur Ros make just the right kind of music for this kind of reverb love it and music is wonderful !

  • Anybody know where I can get this version? It's better than the cd version of the song.

  • @amaccoop34 Its on Heima (Disc 2).

  • @ExclusiveGoodMusic Can I get it on my ipod though?

  • What instrument CAN'T Kjartan play?! Fabulous!

  • my fav part is the flute wen i had dis playin on my ipod it came on while i was watchin dis water fountain in da middle of the lake on my campus and the wind was blowing and the sun was reflecting offf the water it felt so beautiful

  • What instrument is the guy playing with a bow in the beginning (around 1:10--)?

It looks like a bass guitar or guitar, but it can't be, because he's using a bow to play it... Is it still a bass guitar being played like a regular upright bass?

  • @soccerlexie23 It's an electric guitar. I can't remember what type, but yes he plays it with a cello bow. Apparently it started out as a joke one day when they were practicing, he tried it out and like the sound.

  • If there is one thing in the world thats perfect, its this song or the band :)

  • I love Sigur Ros .... I listen to them everyday, they bring a smile on my face, they make me so optimisstic and I can even dare to dream....

  • This one time, I got extremely mad about something in my buddies car, he turned on this song on his ipod and I just shut the fuck up and listened to it. No other band has that influence on me, and all I can say is that this band makes everything bad in life livable with. If there was one band in the world, it would have to be this one.

  • God created this band

  • this is such an amazing, dreamy, nostalgic, sad but yet so incredibly beautiful song...It's so beautiful that it nearly hurts...! Sigur Ros is definitely THE band of the century...!

well..I hope you don't see this as a spam, but I thought this might interest some of you...

I found a band on youtube called "Nyctalgia"

If you've got time, listen to their song "Lost in timeless horizons"

Breathtakingly beautiful song by this extremely young newcomer...just give him a chance..

  • No words! Only listen and fly and dream...

  • How much I wish I wud stay there.

  • peace!!

  • Sigur Ros cured my cancer.

  • i can't believe that there r some ppl arguing about how great Sigur Ros is , some ppl would never understand what a Post-Rock music is , be glad it reached u , as i would always say , its not music for ur ears , its for ur soul

  • @alexsweely Let me guess.. You're not a musician:) Give it a rest with pop music. Pop music is.. and has been since it began a series of chords that fall perfectly under the category of "pleasant" and "friendly" to pretty much everyone's ears in the occidental world. That includes you. What you're listening here (Sigur Ros) uses a great deal of the sequences used by other pop artists. Oh, and comparing Kanye West with Miley Cirus makes no sense.

  • best live gig clip. ever.

  • Best part: 1:41 - 1:43

  • The volume doesn't go loud enough for a song like this.

  • this is such an amazing, dreamy, nostalgic, sad but yet so incredibly beautiful song...It's so beautiful that it nearly hurts...! Sigur Ros is definitely THE band of the century...!

  • @999TorturesAposida im checking it out, im ognna be bummed if its no good, or just a rip off of this

  • Sigur Rós takes you to whole new dimension. It's as if nothing else exists when you listen to it. Sublime.

  • agree w/ farias 1979... as the world progresses good music dies

  • sigur ros and explosions in the sky are the two bands that can really move you in their music. both talented groups. i could listen to this all day. *sigh*

  • This music is the voice of Mother Nature.

  • This video makes me sad that I wasn't there... but happy that something like this is real and actually happened. ughh if I couldve been there...

  • hm, i bet this is what kurt cobain would have wanted... jsut a few ppl on the grass..

  • @theBunnyboy i bet Buddha wouldn't want that... man, how can u write about (great in some way) grunge artist in comments to Sigur Rós video; I get disgusted every time i read such comments from teen fanboys, sic!

  • thats right, our asses are green, and we are proud of it, lol

  • I love the chorus of voices at the end of this song but this performace was not the chorus of voices ...

  • that should be a religion

  • Can I just say WOW: He's playing his electric guitar with a violin bow. Honestly, the quality of their music, considering it's from a live recording, is incredible. They have used their gifts to tremendous effect.

  • Iceland is the ideal country. Nature and resourceful technology combined, so magnificent. I'm going to move there.

  • What about the flute break?

  • Have you heard better than the best.. This is it...This is a touch of heaven...Pono Pono Pono...

  • Losi Losi, this song touched my heart more than Any song ever this is God disquised in the music.

  • Usually, if I really like a tune, I'll try to analyse it, to break it down to a chord sequence and work out how to play it.

I started to do that with this one, and then - no, no, leave it the hell alone, just bathe in it every once in a while.

    L:ike the sun, or something.

  • I wish i could be islandic just to present these moments... beautiful, and even that i'm from so far away (portugal), i take them as mines too.

  • I can't wait hearing jonsi in luxemburg next May ... He's so a creative man !!!!

  • they are AMAZING

  • first i heard this song, i just cried and cried.. don't know why

  • I love this song. As much as i want everyone to adore Sigur Ros, ONLY people close to my heart get to hear it from me.

  • There is a sheer beauty and elegance in their music, something that cannot truly be described with words, and something that touches my heart in a way no other music has. This band truly is the ultimate good. They make music that seemingly can bring all people together, no matter what race, religion, or creed. Thank God for Sigur Ros!

  • @danmets44 Nothing else to add - simply beautiful

  • this is my favorite Sigur Ros song.

  • So Pure good musik!!!! i like it!!!

  • pure brilliant

  • IF YOU LOVE SOMEONE, show him or her sigur ros, NO ONE can die without hearing this MUSIC!!

  • not all the people can understand her music..

  • this is true

  • I'm completely agree with you...

  • Iceland looks really beautiful, surely it's one of the most beautiful places on earth, hope someday can I travel there.

  • i wish i could express through words how this band makes me feel and how it shifts my perspective of things for the better so more people would know about them. imagine how much better the world would be if the majority of the people listened to sigur ros

  • yeah, and how much better the world would be if Jonas Bros, Miley Cirus and Kanye West didnt exist.

  • @farias1979

indeed, thats not music. it's just for the money and the fame. and that kind of people are boring.

  • @farias1979 I don't agree. Everyone gets something different from music. Mabye, some people don't want to feel intense feelings while listening to music. Maybe they are lighthearted people . The beautiful thing about music is that there is something for every taste.

  • @farias1979 Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it shouldn't exist. I'm very sure someone somewhere thinks that about sigur ros.

  • @DilutePeople well.... usually people that like musical garbage don't even know bands like sigur ros exist...

that "music" is just another sign of the decadent world we live in... a world spinning around money.... mindless and full of ignorance!

  • @farias1979 I do feel like a lot of main stream music and more accesible styles of music are filled with a lot of hollow bands but at the same time not all of them are always bad. A broken clock is correct twice a day.

  • @farias1979 or what if horrible comments like that didn't exist... im not gonna tell you what to do

but its not cool to put down other people you don't even know.. much less say how much better things would be without them.

  • @farias1979

...but then there would always be some other "plastic band" to replace them.

But im glad we have them. Then we have a refernce for how things shouldnt be done :D

  • @farias1979 OH YES!!

  • @farias1979

Im so tired of these hateful remarks. The fact that YOU, me and a lot of other sigur ros listeners do not like them, does not mean they should not exist. How boring would this world be if everybody was the same. To be honest. I think a lot of people NEED Jonas Bros, Miley Cirus and Kanye West to exist, just to look down upon their fans and feel special.Stop the elitism and enjoy the music you like. Stop judging others. Open your mind and free yourself from frustration.

  • @farias1979 how can u think of hate at this song :/

  • I wish that too, but in reality, they need to exist in order for these bands to provide the counterbalance.

  • @thierryman So true

  • @farias1979 i almost agree but we need them to set a standard of bad music...

  • @arrebentaAbolhaa we must kill em all!!!

  • @farias1979 Definitely.

  • @farias1979 I like to think that those shitty artists make this stuff all the more special, but yeah, those fucks need to have never existed.

  • @farias1979 It would be pretty fucking awesome. I can tell you.

  • la canción perfecta (the perfect song)

  • I don't understand anything he sings but I just love this song! :D Replay. Replay. Replay. ...

  • jajja me too xD

  • 3:52

  • This song.... surely goes deep to my heart.... even though at this time I don't feel I have any =( </3...... Beautiful song, Incredible view....... simply........ just Perfect

  • God exists. No doubt about it. This song is the proff.

  • or proof that sigur ros is God.

  • done anyone have this track?

    Pls contact me

  • Who are the most easy going, relaxed, chilled people? Thats right

  • yeah, it's right, slipknot are soooooooooo nice

  • :: If i believed in heaven... it would be just like this...
