In case anyone hasn't noticed, the key of the harp is always the key of the background music and so whenever there's a chord/bass change in the background music, the pitch of the harp changes to reflect that, that way there wouldn't be any unpleasant half steps or dissonance for the people playing the game.
True, true. I just wish we could get a variety of different things to happen depending on how you pluck the harp...and I'm totally re-hashing your answer. Yep. *facepalm*
Link tries desperately to master the harp, knowing that his skill with it is essential to the survival of the world. Realizing his failure to play a single coherent sequence of notes, he decides to end everything, knowing that he would never be able to save Zelda without getting those damn tadtones and playing the Song of the Hero.
What a dark ending for such a bright and colorful game....
am i the only one who was a bit disappointed at the musical aspect of this game? sure you learn "songs" as you go, but you only use each one once and there is no consistent way to play them or even see what the song looks like. anybody else miss the ability to play (or howl) real songs that you can see what youre playing?
@shadowsa2b Yes, I am. I'm also disappointed of the music in the game in general.
There are about three tunes that are memorable AND sound good, namely the Ballad of the Goddess (which set the standards for the rest of the game quite high), the Flight music in Skyloft and Farore's Courage, which is also quite nice. Other than those... meh. I miss the beauty and magic all the predecessors' music had.
@TypoCandar I agree, The music is not at its best but I like Ballad of the Goddess, The Skyloft flying music, in skyloft music, in Knights Acadamy music, and Farore's Courage. I think all the other music could of been better.
@SenshiOfSadness I believe it is an equal to the Ocarina. This instruments purpose is to play the background music instead of the melody of the song. Atleast in Links hands. This gives them the opportunity to make more complex or just plain different songs with out the player having to memorize them all. But the music is beautiful nonetheless.
AH, after carefully listening, the harp's chords are changing along with the background music (Lanayru Desert). You have to listen carefully, and you'll see that the chords match.
It's nearly impossible to do that because you can't really control what sounds come from the harp. It goes in a pattern of left to right and it changes every few strokes, so unless you figured out how to control the harp, it'd be impossible to learn songs on it.
@prender11 The tune the harp plays is synchronised with the background music of the area you're in. Playing the harp essentially adds an instrument to the music in the background, but it'll only sound good if the player can strum in time with said music.
when he jumps of the cliff its because he has stage fright

Don't tell me this wasn't the first thing you did when you got the harp/lyre.
(I'm still confused on this point; the game keeps insisting it's a harp, but I think it's a lyre...)
