  • love this song x

  • My wife actually divorced me for making a 1990 mixed tape. Ha ha lol, her loss!

  • Oh yeah, between this and Wilson Phillips and even some of the Amy Grant of the time it's clearly obvious that something was happening in music around that time. Yeah, some of the tunes may have been feminine, but they were unique and arguably better than most music of today. I'm a 27 year old dude and I can dig this song. There is a universal appeal with this sound, and it's a sound of a simpler time. I just wonder, were those walls made of sheetrock or concrete block?

  • this song is raw dog fckng badass I blast it on my 15"s in the ghetto all the time and dudes slinging rocks be like bobbing their heads and breakdancing

  • ...Cathy's music was fun and uplifting, something that is missing today. The fact thats she was a BABE didn't hurt either. Whats she up to these ays?

  • i think I'm falling in love with Cathy!! I love you so much!!! woooohooo

  • Ashley Tisdale did a cover of this song !

  • 11 people have no nostalgia.

  • I was but a teenager when this song come out... wheres the time gone?? Nearly 40 now.....

  • @MrKRH74 LOL I was 1 when this song came out and I still love it. I grew up to Cathy Dennis haha.

  • @Eeyoreboi Times certainly have changed since then unfortunately..

  • @MrKRH74 lol I'm sorry. That sounds really depressing. I was 4, now I'm 25. Seems like this time period was a dream. No joke. But hey, those times are gone, we gotta learn to love these days. But there will never be music like this again...

  • @DeeSee25 Yeah, I do yearn back for the early 90s and my teenage years, but like you said they're gone.. good times

  • if she continued her music career she would have been quite big as a singer and maybe actress if she tried it. I like her a lot even now.

  • The ending makes me cry..

  • Okay, so maybe I'm a chump for liking this song, but great tune...LOVE IT

  • AMAZING !!! CATHY DENNIS !!! ashley tisdale shit on this song!!

  • nostalgia

  • @MusicLoverGirlie Thanks for the reminder ;-) 20 years!?!? damn seems to have flown by

  • The girl next door should be the girl next door!

  • She races cars too.Woo Woo.

  • Why did Ashley Tisdale have to go and fuck this up????

  • @Nicholas5832 I don't think she fucked it up. I think she covered it very well.

  • can somebody download the official music video of too many walls

  • the reason we dont have good music like that anymore is cause youve got fags like justin beiber polluting the air waves with his sucky ass music

  • @shortychristodd uh no let's not forget Greyson Chance Rebecca Gaga Nikki Kesha Taylor Demi Miley Selena Adam Lambert Cody Simpson all those new bands Soulja Boy New Boyz Trey Songz Rihanna Chris Brown Kanye Katy Jason Derulo Drake Bruno Mars LMFAO Adele B.O.B The Ready Set etc. ur probably wondering WHAT'S WITH ALL THE NAMES. i listed these names because you guys make it seem like Bieber is the only person out. THESE PPL above are out 2 but u target Justin 4somreason, wat up with that 4 real?

  • This is what brought me to buy her CD in 2009!!

  • @Lindathemightywitch was it not available on cassette?

  • She's one Hot red head!

  • One of the best love songs since 1990.

  • For once, the song speaks for itself.

  • Oh wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd forgot about this song, happy memories of good times:-)

  • For me, it's the BEST one-sided love song ever sung ... exactly reflects the way I've felt for someone so distant and unreachable...and will have to be content watching him from a distance.

  • One of my fav's of the 90's!!!!!!

  • I remember this cathy dennis hit when i was in my third year high school, we danced it during our foundation day.

  • I fucking LOVE THE VIOLIN ENDING!!!!

  • @devonferris, Right?!! Awesome

  • What happened to the official video?

  • @josephc28 You can watch the video at the site of the dailymotion.

  • This reminds me of a boy called Tyrone I was really good friends with in 1991...don't know what happened to him

  • @iamwhoiamwhoiammark2 Have u tried Facebook? I've found people I knew many years ago.

  • love this song! thanks!

  • One thing I remember about the early 90's, when Beverly Hills 90210 came out, there was a rebirth of pop music that came from the 90210 package. Cathy Dennis was one of those artist I really like, along Color Me Bad and Bryan McKnight. There was a lot of good artists contribute to the rebirth of Pop music, and a lot of them was really good before they spin into Hip-Hop, then hardcore Street Rap, then Grunge in the mid and late 90's. When Britney came around, Pop music became too pop tarty.

  • @wildflower434 That's rather ironic seeing as Cathy wrote Toxic for Britney.

  • ♥ Her voice sounds a bit like Ashley Tisdale (a cover song)

  • This was part of the 80s with the psychedlic furs such a class act along with this song now its like Rome the music world has been sacked by junky music now

  • @wolverine12ize No this wasn't. It was recorded in 1990 and released in 1991.

This was co-written by Cathy Dennis and Anne Dudley (member of The Art of Noise).

  • the one line in this song used to sound like this to me: "Deep in my heart, I know this drink is within"

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!! BEAUTIFUL,AWESOME,VOICE!!! THIS SONG VERY TOUCHING TO THE HEART!!!

  • Was such a big hit back then!!!! You never hear this anymore! I sure hope when the 90s revival starts, this gets some representation. It made #1 adult contemp. for crying out loud!!!

  • Please activate the option for mobile phones, so that this great song is also viewable on android mobile phones and especially on android tablet PCs (Youtube: "My uploaded videos - Edit - Broadcasting and Sharing Options - Syndication – Yes, make this video available on mobile phones and TV … - Save Changes").

  • wanna sob everytime I listen to this. Miss my college years

  • @Dicarts

yeah man I was just a youngin when it came out. Time is fucking flying friend. Gotta make the best of it. Good luck and happiness in life!

  • thanks for uploaded this song... terima kasih... does she join simon fuller now, i saw a similar name on american idol credit...

  • Thanks for putting this up, this was my song back in the Philippines!

  • beautiful voice...beautiful song!!

  • 1990 so long ago now

  • @georgejacktheripper So the truth. Seems like it was yesterday that this song was on the radio like every day!

  • amazing how a song brings you back to the world you knew when you heard it so quickly, and so fleetingly.

  • I was so happy I'd recorded this off the radio back in the day--on cassette. now I never hear it.

  • Miss the 90's... my puberty and TEEN years... Wonderful times!!!!

I feel inspired whenever I listen to this song!

  • fab

  • I used to love this song. It's going into a playlist of memories. Thank you for uploading.

  • beautiful song help me through my first divorce very inspirational!!

  • Great Song!!!!!!!!

  • The Strength is with in love this song gives alot of inspartian!!!!!!!

  • There is one thing Lady Gaga and Cathy Dennis have in common, they have both provided material for Britney Spears.

  • cant ask for more red head + great voice -_-

  • I love this tune... It's on the muzak system at work.

  • Great song, but am I the only one who thinks this song is a bit sad?Anyways nice voice,so different than her other song "Touch Me(All Night Long)".

  • I have this album, and just about everything on it is great(though I prefer her more dreamy songs like this one)! Smooth jazz sax solo, anyone?

  • What a sweet presentation for dreamers and incurable romantics: holds faith in the future, that all walls and hinderances that stand in the way of mutual happiness now, will be crumbled by perserverence, to have a meaningful soul love with someone as kind as Cathy Dennis' voice. The ultimate reward. It's the way it should be between lovers who sacrifice at the highest level of patient longing to change worlds by the strength of faith within. Brave lyrics passionately done without any compromise.

  • These were the days when music was really good - unlike the junk thats on the radio nowadays. Bieber? Lady gaga? wtf man?

  • @kyawwaiyan lol she writes a lot of the crap out now. well i dont think its crap but u know she has written for brittney, katy perry, etc. major pop artist like bieber and gaga

  • still love this girls tunes after all these years

  • i remember this song and sitting in a friends white

honda crx and pushing the tape in and i still have it!

  • Pop Smear! j/k

  • Klackkendoll82, you have great taste in music ! I like your Channel too !

This is a great song from Cathy Dennis. In 1991, when her "Just Another Dream" video came out, I knew right away she would be one of my favorite artists. Well, she became my ultimate favorite singer / songwriter for 20 years !!! Cathy Dennis is brilliant. She writes songs for Sophie Ellis-Bextor, like "Catch you" for example.

I wish she would make more albums. There are still ALOT of fans out there !

  • She wrote "toxic" for britney spears. Move To This was a great album!

  • Gahh, I heard this playing in CVS today and I got such a happy dose of nostalgia! LOVED this song so much!!

  • I love the pattern of the verse: the way she makes that first statement rather matter of fact, then follows it up by squeezing out greater sentimentality in the next line that follows, subtly hammers in the power of her inner feelings. Like she really feels what she's saying and she's doing this to build a bank of energy for the future that she is waiting for. Facing walls and realizing what strength comes from within and to hell with all else. Walls can be crumbled. The song is an affirmation!

  • "Deep in my heart, I know the strength is within" :)

  • I would love to bum her dirtbox ;-)

  • why o why cant there be music like this anymore.i pray everyday to hear a great song that gives chills down the spine.still waiting lol

  • @ballbuster2444 Check out Colby Caillat. I'm not saying she's the same as this artist and this song is really special. Still, I think you may enjoy her music.

  • good

  • great song !!!

  • I LOVE IT! <3

I heard it on my friend's youtube channel & I had to favorite it :)

  • I have this music video of this song, copy and paste this up top and enjoy! watch?v=0r9FlqwvhDI

  • i heard this when i was like 7..

  • i thought this song was on at the food lion a few nights ago, totally different song was on but i was singing this anyway. i remembered a lot of the words too.

  • One of my favourite songs from my youth.;)

  • Back in the day, she had a nice ass.

  • love this song

  • wow awesome song takes me back to middle school i thought cathy was so hot!!!!!!

  • I'm 22 and I just recently heard this song on the 90's Music Channel on the DishNetwork and I liked it!

  • Wow, this takes me back to my HS Days and to think that was almost 20 years ago already for me!

I'm not liking this getting old thing too much!-lol.

  • I heard this song on the radio when I was coming home from school!

  • Amazing that everyone loves this song...

I never knew who sang it but I've always heard it someplace like the supermarket...I couldn't even place the year it came out...

I finally heard it again the other night (in the fruit store) and I found it after doing lyric searches on Google for 20 minutes tonight... Cathy has a sweet voice, kind of like Suzanne Vega...Sounds wholesome and innocent... in a mean world...

  • cathy dennis is a song writer and record producer now. She co-wrote and produced CAN'T GET YOU OUT OF MY HEAD for Kylie Minogue and wrote TOXIC for Britney Spears. She's currently working with Christina Aguilera.

  • I loved this song 17 years ago and still, another timeless piece of art....what happend to the singer?

  • Ths takes me back to 1991 in the last few months of Operation Desert Storm. This song provided a wonderful distraction from the winds of war, and I was in Air Force Reserve, could have been called to active duty, but wasn't. It was a time of this country pulling together through that conflict, possibly somewhat like the unity we had durinbg WW II. We will likely not see that again. Thanks for singing this beautiful song, Cathy.

  • I remember this jam, it's an oldie but always a goody!! loved it.

    It always takes me back...

  • This song is symbolic, yes, SYMBOLIC of my 9th birthday back in 1991, one of the most happy + essential times of my life ! ! Can't really make a judgement about the song objectively though, it's the memories that count !

  • I love this song.

  • an oldie, but a goody

  • kinda tells me . great artists never die

  • I was in junior high when this song came out; 14 years old, trying to figure out what being a teenager was going to mean for me. I was an introspective bookworm who lived much of her life in her own head. Songs like this "spoke" to me.

  • Good lord 1991! The lyrics just happened to pop into my head and reflected a moment and place in time. Can't believe its been over 19 years since I last heard this track; still sounds great though :-D (Hello Cathy) Thanks for sharing.

  • This is my favorite Cathy Dennis song

  • I don't care how many new songs will ever be made..the "classics" will always have my heart :)

  • this is great song.

  • Cathy...love you,always have,always will

  • NO NEED FOR AUTOTUNE ... with such an enormous amount of NATURAL TALENT.

  • @JOJOBANANAZ1 Those were the good ol' days when all singers who got recording contracts could sing.

  • @artsylovelylady Correct... except for Tommy Page. LOL

  • @JOJOBANANAZ1 Did you hear Ashley Tisadale's version?... YES, Ashley Tisdale re-did this song. How she found out about this song, I have not a clue.

  • @ScienceProjek LOL I'm probably guessing Cathy's early 90s counterpart, Tommy Page (1990 #1 hit I'll Be Your Everything) introduced Tisdale to this song because he writes & produces now.

  • @JOJOBANANAZ1 your right! Auto tune is for attention whores(Justin Bieber) and attention whore seekers(Lady Gaga)!

  • GINGER!.. but we'll let her off this time.

  • Why can't I find this song (original version) on itunes?

  • @Depredador1220 i know.. fab :)

  • love this song..forever

  • Always loved this song. You don't hear songs like this on the radio anymore.....

  • AWESOME!

  • Wow, I still love this song!!!

  • This song brings lots of memories...:)

  • I always thought this was Wilson Phillips. :x

  • great time era , lots of memories

  • Thi song reminds me of my first job. It used to play on the radio quite often. I think I was 16 or 17 at the time. I've loved it ever since.

  • Wow! All these years, and i didn't know she sung this XD

  • This brings me back to 1994, when I rode around in the back of a Dodge Caravan with my baby sister and listened to my mom singing everything that played on the radio, including this. Good times.

  • left-over 80's music...that's what i call songs that sound like they should have been released in the 80's but was just a bit late getting there...great song anyway!

  • @jupiteravatar

Disagree. To me this sounds like a late 90s song (like jewel, sarah mclachlan style), but it arrived a few years earlier during the age of dance music. It's also very similar to the type of music Mariah Carey used to sing during the 90s.

  • P.S. Cathy Dennis also wrote a lot of similar songs for the group S Club 7 (late 90s).

  • @harleykman I disagree, I don't think it sounds anything like Mariah Carey. Her ballads were very r&b this is straight up pop and sounds very dated (like a lot of MC's early stuff) but it's still great! And Harley, she wrote a few songs for Kylie Minogue too!

  • @jupiteravatar The turn of the 90s decade was like that for music. It still had elements of that 80s feel. I think that's the case of most decades. I'm still waiting for the 2000s style to just go away, but it seems like it keeps on getting worst for music.

  • im 26 i remember hearing this song when i was 7yrs old but, now that im older i can relate to it

  • too bad they took down the music video!

  • My husband and I were in London and had a fight in our hotel room. He walked out and I turned on the tele and saw Cathy Dennis doing this song for the first time on a music/dance show. I sat on the bed and cried with the perfect song for the time and I tear up every time I hear it. It's now on my IPOD for my husband and I to listen to.

  • @PlanetBoom2 Wow, that's a good story, thanks :)

  • my favorite song on the album

  • 39 years old today, only 20 when this song came out. Time flies. Sniff....

  • @Dicarts Me too, exactly the same age! So many good memories of this song.
