did Dvorak write this when he was in America? It doesn't sound quite like his other pieces.

Yes - he wrote it in 1893 in New York - the last piece he wrote in America. It was a movement of his violin sonatina written for his children to play but the 'Indican Canzonetta' title was added later by his publishers as an aid to marketing!

Thank you. Of Dvorak's solo piano pieces, only the 'Humoresque' is well known - and even that is best known in arrangements for other instruments!
