The franchise was good, until, I dunno, FFX and XI. FF XII was like Star Wars, FF XIII is missing the soul of the previous games, and FF XIV is strange. But I'm not worried, they're going to the original plan sooner or later.

@nalrashido Has to do with what you define as an interesting plot. Some like Mass Effect, others like Metal Gear. Some like both. Really, it isn't easy to actually find something thought-provoking in the gaming industry. I like Metal Gear, but not exactly for its plot. Its plot is a convoluted mess. It's the characters I like, the things they go through, etc. The same reasons a Final Fantasy fan likes Final Fantasy, but I find that Metal Gear is more adult, even if it is very quirky.
@nalrashido Mass Effect is over-rated, but still a very good game. Again, it's the characters that shine, not the plot, though the story may get better when the third one comes out, considering that it's really one big story divided into 3 games. And yeah Metal Gear isn't for everyone, but 3 is my favorite game of all time. Perfect music, amazing gameplay, and I love the characters and the humor. Also a perfect setting. Stealth doesn't get better than a jungle setting.
@ZsHouseProductions That game was just special. I've never had a more tense experience than the one I had battling the old sniper (The End) in the jungle during a rainstorm. Tense stealth gameplay at its finest. And all the shit that Big Boss goes through, I couldn't help but put myself in his place. That game just resonates with me. At the end I couldn't help but feel every ounce of pain that guy had been through. God..I gotta go play some MGS3...

And then there are things like Mass Effect, where again, everything about it goes deeper than anything I've seen in Final Fantasy since, hell I don't know when. I used to be a Final Fantasy fan, a huge one. It just seems that I've grown up now. It's just too shallow.

I will never understand why people always hate off the Final Fantasy franchise. I understand that longtime fans enjoy the classics like FF6 and FF7, but time goes on and THINGS CHANGE. If you have such an issue with the newer ones, there is ALWAYS a solution.......................don't play them. Final Fantasy 13-2 isn't "trying to be" FF7 or 6 or any other Final Fantasy. I'm practically like ff4,5,7 since you can wipe every random encounter with no restriction. ff8,9 is a nice game I admit it but we're forced to play a LowLevelGame if you want a good stats. while in ff6 you need to check every character exp after battle because you don't want to skip any level bonus from esper. every FF games have it's own system so you can't really compare each other.

I can't wait until this game comes out! :) If you are a true fan then you will have to accept Square Enix's new approach to Final Fantasy. I think FFXIII-2 has amazing graphics and gameplay and will continue to impress many people over the years.

the battle system is good. it's different from all the final fantasy. all other final fantasy is so easy. train a lot, kill boss one hit. I would say you guys are lazy changing paradigm. just to let you know i played all final fantasy from 1-14. final fantasy 13 is more challenging and i don't use auto attack. auto sucks and ruins the game. For ravager thunder is the fastest magical attack.
@kampfer0089 You say that the old battle system was easy cause you train a lot... You make it easy for yourself!!! Avoid the training, and it'll become a challenge. I found XIII piss easy, didn't die once thoughout the whole game, apart from the death spam on the second to last battle. and even then, if it wasn't for the stupidity of leader dies = game over, I would have gotten a game over once. All XIII did was test your reaction time, and for me, removed any strategy in battles.
ppl dislike it because FF has become gimmicky. Its pretty much a fact that the time of Jrpgs has passed. There are certain signs one can be privvy to to tell that a game is going to suck. This trailer is chock full of them.
@ emmawatson995 Every Final Fantasy game that was released were different from the earlier ones so can't really base that logic on 13. Besides the game is not completed for the U.S yet, so can't assume if this game will be bad or good until the game comes out.
Only way is to buy the Chinese version of the game which has Japanese Audio with English or Chinese subs (it automatically puts it on one depending on your system settings)

It's hard as hell being a Final Fantasy fan these days. All the community does is bitch, moan and complain about every little new gameplay element they don't like or the old one that's missing. If they aren't doing that then they are dissing a particular cast of characters from an installment in the series.
I swear just stop playing the games if you don't like them or the characters. A true fan appreciates the franchise in it's entirety and knows how to enjoy the game and story.

FFVII has such numerous sequels because it SELLS, and the only reason it sells its because there are thousands of blind fans like you that think VII is the best FF ever. You know, it looks pretty great, but I just have a bad feeling that besides characters, this story is almost completely irrelevant to the events of the previous game. Kind of like the case with FFX-2, because there is no way that game was relevant. However, I am glad this game looks to be taking itself seriously and not as a joke like the other mentioned sequel.

the battle system is good. it's different from all the final fantasy. all other final fantasy is so easy. train a lot, kill boss one hit. I would say you guys are lazy changing paradigm. just to let you know i played all final fantasy from 1-14. final fantasy 13 is more challenging and i don't use auto attack. auto sucks and ruins the game. For ravager thunder is the fastest magical attack.

@kampfer0089 You say that the old battle system was easy cause you train a lot... You make it easy for yourself!!! Avoid the training, and it'll become a challenge. I found XIII piss easy, didn't die once thoughout the whole game, apart from the death spam on the second to last battle. and even then, if it wasn't for the stupidity of leader dies = game over, I would have gotten a game over once. All XIII did was test your reaction time, and for me, removed any strategy in battles.

Only way is to buy the Chinese version of the game which has Japanese Audio with English or Chinese subs (it automatically puts it on one depending on your system settings)
