  • yes

  • RUSH <3

  • 5 people couldn't find their air guitars before the solo started....

  • best 3-man band ever...

    they are an orchestra...

seen em' live several times, what else can i say?

  • Totally Love Rush!!! :))

  • I LOVE RUSH!!!!! BUBBLES DOES TO!!

  • Wow! All 3 of them at their prime!

  • I love Rush they are my Favorite band and alwayls will be and I'm only 12

  • It seems like all these old bands, Rush, Zep, Stones, Who Floyd etc... sound the same live or on a recording. Amazing

  • I cannot believe how clear this recording is, and it was done almost 30 years ago! I saw them live in 1982, or 83, the "signals tour" it was an awesome show! it was my first rock concert, I will never forget that:)

  • @livrafan I saw them live in May last year. Fuck what an awesome concert. I wish i lived in the 70's. These guys are amazing!

  • did u hear geddy in the beginning when alex was playing after geddy talked.geddy was like lets just play the song like he was pissed

  • @caseyjones67 He jokingly says "a little spanish song"

  • Rush is  1 forever!!!

  • What a vocal performance from Geddy...

  • The one and only RUSH!!!

    Often immitated....never duplicated.

  • 2:37 is epic

  • THUMBS UP for BEST band EVER!!!!!!!

  • Is It me or does that guitar sound simply perfect!

  • I was there .. The single most awesome experience of my life June 9th , 1981 anyone else ?

  • I was born in the wrong generation

  • This music represents what the future of music should've been, beautiful songs. As we had though music should have kept progressing, but for some reason, some people came around and started talking and called their stuff music.

This is good stuff, it is a shame we never hear such music nowadays.

  • You can hear Geddy's voice beginning to die, as his voice is significantly deeper than when he sang only 4 years prior.

  • 4 people did not forge thier creativity closer to the heart

  • @The836812 ... good point, they need to sow a new mentality... closer to the heart

  • y do people dislike this? are they fuckin stupid?

  • 222,222th view :) too bad I wasnt 2112

  • Amazing to think Geddy Lee was humble enough to be featured in the song "Take off (To the Great White North)" on an comedy sketch album in the 80s. The album featured Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas (playing Bob and Doug Mackenzie) as both were from the TV series SCTV.

Geddy made light of some of the more famous Canadian colloquialisms of the time such as "Take off, you hosers!"

No question. These guys are Icons.

  • Wow You get chills from this music i dare anybody these days to put out music like this

  • Believe it or not - this is a three chord song. Amazing!

  • @emann1066 - SIMPLY bcause - its closer to the heart. thx i didnt know that..good fact

  • Four people need to get closer to the heart.

  • I want so much for Rush to come to Australia that would be awesome

  • Alex Lifeson is probably the worst musician in Rush. Which is equivalent to the least powerful god on Mt. Olympus. Just kidding. Alex is far better than most of the crappy gods outside of Zeus and Poseidon.

  • the moment I heard these words I became a Rush fan...

  • screw u justin bieber and ur 4 accounts to dislike this video, just because you will never be as good as the three greatest musicians on the planet doesnt mean you should dislike a great song and concert! you should be ashamed of yourself! Rush is greater than anything ever created, without rush i would have still been listening to some stupid new rock wannabe band! so suck it!

  • I saw them 3 times in the late 70's and I think 81. They have to be some of the best musicians ever and one thing that is so unique about Rush is you could never replace any one of them and still call them rush. Neil Peart is the PROFESSOR, Alex Lifeson's guitar playing is different than anything that I have ever heard and Geddy re-defined what a bass player could do, not to mention that voice. Queen was the only band I ever saw live that was as good as Rush!!

  • Ged's Ric sounded better than his Jazz, IMHO.

  • Ovation Adamis

  • probably the greatest song ever made, god heard this and it gave him the idea to make the cannabis plant

  • what kind of guitar is alex using

  • @TheThepurplebird i believe the acoustic might possibly be an ovation it kinda looks like one,and the electric is a gibson i believe one of the es series

  • Was waitng for them to break into Beneath, Between and Behind right after.

  • dang, a almost made g fall down

  • 1:32 HEAAAAAAAAAARRRRT, EYEAH.

  • These guys actually play music that means something. The world should listen carefully to Rush!!!!!!!

  • Way before their time ! ty 4 the share :)

  • Lifeson>Page

    Peart>Bonham

    Lee>Jones

    Rush>Zeppelin

  • @ryanaceman Rush is extremely good. Zeppelin is amazing.

  • @ILiekHats Zeppelin used to be my favourite band, and they're still in my top 5, no doubt

But, for me, Rush is on entirely different level... musically, but especially thematically...

Don't get me wrong though, Zeppelin is incredible

  • @ryanaceman I have the exact same opinion as you, but Zeppelin is flipped with Rush.

  • @ILiekHats Mad respect for that, Zeppelin is a remarkable band

  • @ryanaceman Lee>>Plant :D

  • @mrbill191715 yes, musically and perhaps vocally too

  • hearing this song live sent me on a journey

  • Awesome....heard first and got the album.......in 1976

  • Look at Alex that intensity. Geddy owns its. Neil. What can I can say they are beyond most bands.

  • alice cooper got 45 thumbs up commenting on a rush song

  • yes! the only thing better!i mean as good!hehe, just kiddin

  • So fucking awesome

  • I cry in argentina 2010 on this song

  • just come acroos this...my god they we're are superb, this brings back my youth in buckets!

  • is Alex playing an ES or a Les Paul? I can't tell...notice the ES pickguard?

  • @wyldefan716

Who cares which guitar? he just rocks!

  • is alex playing an ES or a Les Paul? I can't tell...notice the ES pickguard?

  • @wyldefan716 A ES,I gues. Can be a ES-175.

  • Disliking this video is equivalent to beating a kitten with a stick.

  • @indianapoliscolts914 no, no, its much worse.

  • @indianapoliscolts914 I'd rather beat u with a stick, the colts suck!!!

  • @indianapoliscolts914 hahahaha true

  • @indianapoliscolts914 Nah, disliking this video has no proper analogy.

  • @indianapoliscolts914 Lmfao. True this song is unlike-disable. Unable to unlike. Those 4 meant to hit thumbs up but were drunk like me. Black Velvet Whiskey! \m/

  • @drewlaplanche marijuana \m/

  • @indianapoliscolts914 i luv this video, band, drummer. would have no qualms bout beating a kitten tho lol

  • On the CD of this you can hear the crowd singing along very clearly.

  • alex is a fuckin great guitarist

  • Maat922 that is some funny shit (pardon the pun)!!! Gross, yet some how humorous. Perhaps they should change their name to "Shitknot".

  • I don't think they ever surpassed the 1979-1985 era in terms of timbre, ensemble playing, musical and physical excellence. So loose and masterful!

  • I have to give it up to Cozy.

  • Best 3 man band ever!!! Neil Peart,Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee rocks!!!

  • i don't knw where the music comes from, but it is here. i can go off into several diferent ways.

  • ohh yeah, one of the greatist rock and roll bands ever. lol, i give credit where it is due.

  • oh yeauh boy look at lifeson rockin ett rite after the acoustic opening

  • best 3 man band to every rock, classic rock lives on in Rush

  • I have no idea how these three guys did what they did. Like a perfect storm.

  • Rush was so far ahead in music/rock, the lyrics actually mean something, you can't get that with any music today. Why do people even like Justin beiber and the other terrible music of this day and age? Anyway, rush is amazing!

  • @CoolHatMan100 Because it "sounds" good, and apparently "means" something. Which when you consider all the terrible music of todays music industry, is not true at all. But it makes money, and mainstream society loves the music of today because it's popular. Plus, most labels are only in it for the money, not quality.

  • Listen to the lyrics.....they fricking have meaning, they ARE saying something, they use their fricking brains, they are AMAZING.....they were a talent beyond all music of the times....even today or tomm....its a style that has never been duplicated...because they can't do It...."Bet ya can't do it like me...." Yep Thats Whats Up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FUCK THIS SONG IS GOOD

  • I've always said that Exit Stage Left is one of the greatest live albums ever recorded.

  • How could 2 people not like this song?

  • @svrhodes77 Because they are Justin Blieber fans

  • Great song!

  • One day when the global advertisement machine fully takes over the entire planet, this song'll be used in commercials to advocate a healthy diet, exercise, and a daily aspirin regime because that cholesterol plaque is gettin' "closer to the heart, closer to your heart!" I'll probably, most ironically, think of this comment when I'm dying from one of my future heart attacks.

  • Gotta Love Prog Rock.

  • 0:13 Lighter time everybody!

  • Can't forget about Alex Lifeson what a great musician

  • There's no oldschool here, neither timeless, just time stand still,

    thumbs up if you agree.

  • my life needs to be closer to the heart.

  • * * * * *

  • @713madmags That used to happen a lot when I was married - when my wife ran out of things to say besides "fuck you" it meant I'd won the argument.

Look up Ronnie and the Red Caps here. It's easy to say "how can that be metal god Dio?" when you hear it. But that's what kids (even boys) his age listened to at the time. The music has splintered in so many directions. Not all of it appeals to everyone, but the Beavis and Butthead school of music criticism is too subjective to carry much weight.

  • Awesome band, timeless music, what took so long for them to get into the hall of fame?

  • Geddy's voice in this live version to me is better than the recording! Listen to him whale the D note at 1:32!!!!!!

  • @boxing1011 Yeah that D is hard, I can hit it on a good day lol So I usually just do it in falsetto

  • if this song had a vagina i would fuck it

  • I'm gonna get a tattoo of the last verse of this on my higher back.

  • Multi-Dimensional, God-Like music beings sent to our planet for a short while to expand the creative horizons of all those with an ear to hear. This tour was probably one of the most exhilarating artistic experiences of my life. An that aint no shit either...

  • @Lysergonaut Well put. How about the rest of us mere mortals who never actually reached 'there', we still love Rush as much as you, crushed by the knowledge that we can never witness what you did! Still we listen...

  • geddy's voice is orgasmic

  • Their intensity is simply unbeatable...

  • whoever hit dislike on this video is a fucking idiot and has no musical opinion because it is one of the greatest songs of all time by one of the best bands of all time and if u disagree with this then ur a rap lover and ur just a fuckin dumb ass

  • @squinty671 Let's not dwell on the negativity. It's a goddamn plague on this site and it's bringing everyone down.

  • what year is this concert

  • @JRNelsonSr RUSH sucks? No substance? Are you out of your fucking mind? RUSH transcends time and space. Their music has the power to captivate imagination and reality; it is to be not so much heard, but experienced. You obviously have no understanding of what effect music can have on the mind, body, and soul. 2112 is the definition of substance, and if anything is lacking of it, it would be your existence.

  • This is about as epic as it gets.

  • i want a classical guitar now

  • @2novakid Oldschool... No, it is called fucking balls! They did something that no one else was doing. They broke the mold and said "fuck you" to the established music scene. As a drummer I can tell you that Neil has had more of an impact on my playing than Bonham, Keith Moon, Peter Criss (huge KISS fan), Tommy Lee, Tommy Aldridge or Mike Portnoy. (Mike Portnoy's idol is Neil Piert by the way). So old school, no. Just because it is not Slipknot does not make it old school. RUSH is timeless.

  • @NTR2DR Best band not in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame

  • @NTR2DR

Cheers to Genesis (pre-corp bullshit), Rush, and King Crimson!!

P.S. if anyone likes prog and what a new band to check out. Try the Mastodon album.

  • @NTR2DR you forgot my main man...Cozy Powell...

  • @NTR2DR 30+ years on they still sell out stadiums worldwide. Where's slipknot? I'll tell you. Applebees, cleaning letters written in human shit off the bathroom wall that read "RUSH RULES!".

  • @NTR2DR you take the term old school as derogatory

  • @NTR2DR I agree, even Vinnie Paul From Pantera says, Neil Peart.

  • @NTR2DR I like your point of view, they are so unique.

  • @issa9 u r a piece of shit!!!

  • @RUSHSUCKS1000 Haha, thank you douche bag. I don't recall meaning any harm to you but since you like to be a dick that is fine, it takes all kinds of people to make a world.

  • @NTR2DR

how did they break the mold? In what way did they say "fuck you" to the establishment? They made their own label because no one would sign them when they first started out. They do kick ass and shit all over slipknot though.

  • @kalchi3 You should watch the documentary "beyond the lighted stage" and you'll change your tune. After the album Caress of Steel they ignored pressure from their record company who thought their progressive rock style wasn't marketable and they were told to change to a more commercial sound. Their answer to this was 2112, which I think was initially hated by the record company but after massive sales they were given the creative freedom they wanted.

  • justin bieber and miley cyrus, take notes..this is whats called music.

  • Honestly who ever doesn't like RUSH should just jump off the nearest bridge.

And to all the people talking about pop, R&B and rap. Yea I used to like those genres, then my balls dropped.

  • classic !

  • @stevermans - Yeah, I thought about The Jimi Hendrix Experience right after I posted. So thank you for the correction. Jimi Hendrix, Noel Redding, and of course Mitch Mitchel. Yep, they are the best 3 man band ever, no doubt about it. I didn't care much for the Band of Gypsies though.

@woody48319 - You must have grown up with MTV. ZZ-Top didn't start out with the Eliminator album you idiot. Their old stuff is some of the best bluesy rock ever made. Give "Just Got Paid" a listen to.

  • @JRNelsonSr Madonna fucking sucks.

  • @l4d2geek Madonna sucks because she's pop, Rush sucks because they're all chops and no substance, Hendrix sucked because he thought the funny noises he made with his guitar when he was stoned were music, and so on. All opinions of people too narrowminded to look at the big picture (and all wrong for the same reason), but nobody's banning the right to them. My point was how do you impose it on the HoF? Someone else's opinion can just as easily be imposed on you. Be careful what you ask for.

  • @JRNelsonSr

    You're an idiot.

  • This is the first video i've seen with only 2 dislikes!

    EVEN TROLLS CANT RESIST THEM

    GO RUSH!

  • Comment removed

  • rush is definitely one of the greatest artists of all time. the greatest in prog rock

  • Does anyone know what model Alex's electric guitar is in this video? I assume it's some kind of Gibson, kind of like a ES-335, but not quite. The pick ups look a little unusual to me.

  • @DominoLexington You're right and the pickups are the standard ones.

  • Neil FUCKING Peart!!!

  • Rush is the best 3 man band ever? Perhaps, but you have to consider ZZ-Top, and Cream as well. Take your pick of the three, and you'll come up with a good choice regardless. Personally, I would choose Rush on muscianship alone. But then again...Clapton is God. Hard choice!

  • @419MadMax While Cream is great and enjoy Rush, the Jimi Hendrix Experience is the best 3 piece band.

  • @419MadMax ZZ-top are you fuckin kidding me? those bearded fools couldnt even do one thing RUSH does......

  • neil is the best drummer ever, best 3 man band in the land RUSH

  • @MrCooper2112 not men but GODS!

  • I love how rush is as perfect live as they are in their albums.. Maybe even better live?

How everytime they play on of their songs its reinvented!!!!

  • doesn'tet more beautiful than this...I feel like hanging myself

  • This is everthing. Fuck the Liars in our world. I live by this music it is my compass

    s

  • @rushman1316 i found rush 3 months ago and have not listened to anything since...god bless them..saw them 3 times live this summer...the best

  • Nothing short of amazing.

  • love this song.freaking rocks.

  • this song kicks assssssss

  • You know Geddy Lee and Noddy Holder of Slade have a very similar vocal sound, anyone else notice this?

  • @waldonbuddy I would love to see Geddy sing "Far Far Away"

  • For a really, really good friend :)

  • Neil's kit was sick even back then:)

  • 2 people prefer Bonham over Peart...

  • good song

  • RUSH - "CLOSER TO THE HEART"

  • Love that Ric sound

  • I was part of that crowd Glasgow Apollo Scotland 1981.

  • closer to the heart closer to the heart

  • ABBA sucks in my opinion.

  • @Xanawhatta They where offered a Billion dollars to reunite, not bad after all huh?

  • @444Sal444 I still don't like them because they can never come close to being as awesome as Rush.

  • @Xanawhatta maybe thay suck to you but who soubd like them .no count like all bands that only you would have a narow mind ..fuckwit

  • @666767 Dillhloe

  • @666767 DILHOLE

  • @666767 And learn how to spell!

  • Exit...stage left= Rushs best tour ever...it was virtually flawless....that just shows their amazing skill as musicians....

  • what a great music.

  • rock n roll hall of fame is a joke anyway i dont get why people care so much. if you enjoy the music listen to it. i think run dmc is great but really in the rock n roll hall of fame? its a joke rush should turn down an offer if given it.

  • @MaTiMuS05Irv

Finally RUSH gets a well deserved Star today in Hollywood.

  • @MaTiMuS05Irv Actually Run DMC does belong is such Hall "if" it was truly a "Hall of Fame".... but instead it is a "popularity" club...

RUSH is one of the most influential rock groups of the ages yet the RRHOF would rather put the Sex Pistols in..... Sad really, and I do love the Pistols but I mean come on........ RUSH will get in soon enough, the RRHOF is running out of the "cool" inductees... hehe....
