Actually, remember one thing, they were contracted to Disney. Their contract was up, so their "break up" was meant to happen.

Think of it as a Disney Channel tv show, they normally last three seasons, then the show ends. If they all wanted solo careers, their individual statements that say they love being the Cheetahs and will stay together forever contradict what happened. They just don't want the fans to know that.
