Ubuntu as a an app that does that for you since I think Ibex all you need is the ISO and a USB flash drive. I been using it as a last resort if something goes wrong it cheaper than using a live CD because you can format the stick and or upgrade the iso or even change Distro.
I got to the part at the end of the video, I have mint on a USB drive, after the Mint logo loads, a command prompt appears, how do I go to the desktop/what command? I've tried typing 'help' to see the different commands but I have no idea what to do.
every time i shut off linux all my settings and apps are wiped and it's all default when i start again plz help

@silentbutdeadly333 implement a casper-rw loop to save files, there are many tutorials online showing you how to do so

I've now put linux mint on my daughters acer one the operating system that came with it was crap thanks for your help mate.

It should automaticly boot into the GUI, but if your still have that error, try the command startx
