Actually, you'd probably see a spike in the numbers as far as users go. Actually, you'd probably see a spike in the numbers as far as users go. The reason for that though, is all the people that won't publicly admit they smoke when asked in a poll, would "come out of the closet" if it were legal. As far as I'm concerned, more people using cannabis would be a good thing for the world. Most pot smokers I know are more informed of world events/political issues, etc. than the average joe. Most are also for peace, personal freedoms, personal accountability, etc.

there isn't any p\real physical addiction, though. you won't have any withdrawals; your body won't think it needs the substance to function.
the only time any sort of gateway effect exists is because of prohibition, nothing in marijuana. Since it isn't regulated you buy from same place that has other drugs (probably more expensive), and they're going to try to persuade you to buy that.

Pot should be legal. Then there would be no repercussions on a persons life except that he could not get into legal trouble when coming home from a hard days work and relax a little with their spouse by smoking flowers. Society can forgo the money spent on prisons and law enforcement caused by it's illegality and put some of that money into education, including educating kids about the use of drugs and alcohol. By the way, I no longer smoke it , but I believe in freedom and justice.
