Awesome review, favorite one on Youtube of the M18X. Definitely a GORGEOUS laptop but I have a question. I'm buying a Laptop to record fraps and make videos on the go and at different locations and will start out with the basic 1.5 TB HDD. My question is, does the eSata port actually allow you to plug in an SSD and have it functioning normal? I'd need to know because i would record the fraps files to an external SSD or HDD for better performance recording.

@Samuraislash600 Absolutely not, you can find a much cheaper laptop that isn't made for gaming, and will suit your needs. In fact, one of the cheaper Alienware laptops (such as the m11x or m14x) or Dell laptops should be sufficient.

@TheSouthJersey I see what you're saying, but I think that any laptop gamer who knows half of anything wouldn't pick an Acer to game on. Also, if anyone is ok with hauling around an AW, they'll be ok with hauling around an ASUS so the weight is an insignificant factor. AW is only good for one thing: having people ask you "What is that?" due to all the bells and whistles of a pretty case. IMO, the newer MSi rigs are taking the market by storm. I know that's my next purchase...

@TexasRho83 - I hear ya, but sadly the biggest competition are Acer's and Asus. Acer's are assembled like junk with poor customer service, Asus is nice but the system is heavy as hell. The AW is the best out there ,besides a MacBookPro if your not a gamer.

What i heard if any part lets go Dell has the right to replace any parts with refurbished parts thats a turn off. also i understand the battery dont last very long so were ever you go you have to haul the cord around and hope theres power.And theres a few more issues i could bring up but i wont i dont think this laptop could do anything for me..

@robLICKE I bought a M17x last year and they are fantastic. Mine had problems but what they do is if they can't fix it they will build another laptop with the same specs and send it to you and when it arrives you call dell up and arrange someone to come and pick up the faulty laptop so you technically are not left without a laptop for the period of time its being built. One tip buy the maxed out warranty, that's a must!

@tonybaker63 Get the Lenovo y470 right now, go on BensBargain (a net website) and it has sales on laptops and desktops there, one is a y470 and it plays very well, more then 2x better then an alienware m11x and it's for sale at $800. Chick-lit keyboard (no dirt or dust goes under keys/keyboard, easy to use) Seriously go on BensBargain and search for it in the notebook section. Get it if you can. I have a Lenovo y560p and I want a y470 or y570.
