What we do know is that all the elements necessary for this to happen were a part of the towers construction, and in very large quantities. The molten metal reports are difficult to confirm. Molten steel would have to be above 1550 Celsius, which would be almost white hot.

If stuff is glowing reddish, that's not hot enough, although Brass, Lead, Aluminum and Zinc I believe would be molten above 500 or 600 celsius ( 1100 F)

I don't think hot debris fires are proof of thermite at all. More precisely, hot fires could be caused by other materials, including oils and diesel fuel, plastics etc..

I looked into this quite extensively, discovered that hot underground fires can happen, for example in coal.

Here you have a low oxygen, petrochemical based smouldering fire which grows very hot because the heat cannot escape.

A debris pile would potentially become thermal insulation and allow temps to climb. Given adequate oxygen and fuel, that is.

Thermite burns too quickly to be a longterm fuel source. Esp. nanothermite, which is explosive.

1) Jones et al did not compare these to a sample of WTC primer paint to eliminate that paint as the source.

2) Original primer paint contains several elements that Jones found on the chips but assumed were contaminants: calcium, sulfur, zinc, chromium and potassium.
