You could be getting it as a hermonic or as a reflection on the rigs filters?
I have also heard broadcast stations in this part of the frequency in AM too, but have never checked if it's a harmonic a reflection or a direct broadcast?
Hey, that's my channel! We used to all hang out there from 1992 - 1995 back in the day. I had a Ranger RCI 2950 with a 200 watt vaccum tube linear, and Antron 99. I talked all across America, UK, Canada, and the Carribean with it. Ahhh, those were the days.
And to the mongrel, you're a fucking dipshit! Having a license doesn't give you any athority over anyone. I'd love to see you bust down my door.
Ill tell you what tough guy. Bring your ham talkin ass to my house and TRY to get my equipment. I can tell you one thing for sure you wont be leavin on your own power.
no, lol the radio is fine. people do put their mic's next to radio speakers sometimes though. and it was skip because it was rolling a lot that day plus it rolls in and out just like skip.
@joehimmler Yeah, and I'm an Amatuer Radio Operator and I have a Galaxy 98 VHP in my Hummer H2, also an 897 D, if you don't believe me, just click on my name "Starbuckin" and watch my video.
Just wanted to jump say. IMO i believe it is just someone rebroadcasting a comercial broadcast. But I'm not the one broadcasting. Also this broadcast is a nice piece of history
No, it's not "freeband". Those freqs. are allocated by FCC for various legitimate users. FCC is pretty slack with enforcement but Homeland Insecurity and CAP have been allocated some freqs in 26 meg range and some other areas.
I don't understand why people want to play with 4W CBs and even some of the higher power Galaxy/Connex junk when they could clean up their language, get an amateur license and do more with radio.
So some one is rebroadcasting a Commercial Broadcast station over 27.805mhz (pirate)? That is above 11 meter CB band, below 10 meter Ham, so this is on the "extra" bands?
Why do people post their less the legal activities on youtube? What is the point? Why would any one bother doing this? Talk on 11 meter or get a ham tech license. I'M NOT KIDDING A 7 YR OLD GIRL GOT A HAM LICENSE, TRUE STORY. (That record has now been broken with a 5 yr old, TRUE look it up). How lazy or dumb are you?
@geeflyboy well the person who posted this vid is not engage in any illegal activities. AFIK we are still free to receive anything that is transmitted, even if that transmission is illegal.
Wannabes!, Posers!, Appliance operators!, MUD DUCK!, Where is your morse code key? You know, the little knob thingy that goes beep beep beep like REAL radio operators?
What you are hearing is not the main signal you are hearing it second, third or forth harmonic from its origional source. This will probably happen most on any morning and go away when the sun gets farther from the horizion. Ham, shortwave, cb .frs, and murs it dont matter key up and talk on it. If we dont use it we will lose it rest assured.
there are some am freqs. that pick up tv and radio. only on upper and lower ch. outside the regular 40channels. i get them too. i think it just depends were you are .my mobile picks them up at home , but not at my job 15 miles away, my base always picks it up!radio towers are near me. about 5 miles away. (connex radio, 75ft. tower and imax 2000.)oh, and lots of tx. dave made power!
it was probably from poor recvier design and fundamental overload to the front end if it was TV and or FM BC. Also there are some ulitity stations in the 26mhz range and i think on the high end of 25mhz is a few short wave stations. on the high end of 26mhz there is a FM CB allocation in the UK. (legal ops) in the mid 26mhz there is a few miltary freqs in use from time to time.
yea if you like people that cuss you out. or send you in the wrong direction on purpose. and at any power? there are other services that can talk much further at lower power and more reliable than CB.
I think you have the term "Ham" mixed up with a food product. Yes, ham is dead, but Amateur Radio is well and thriving. Figures that the first thing that comes to the mind of a CBer is a food product. Feel free to come back and comment after you have studied enough to pass an elementary test enabling you to actually understand how your magical box sends your voice to other people who own one as well.
Well so far I am not convinced. Your lack of correct word usage and punctuation have left me wondering what point you were trying to make, or rather, what the fucking hell you were even trying to say. Please try again.
oh wow, so i accidentally spelled a word a bit wrong, you think you cant listen to me.
see, this is why amateur radio, or should i say immature radio operators are pricks. how you can act like you think your better than the 11 meter operators.
The fact of the matter is, I in no way represent the vast majority of amateur radio operators. In fact, I know a fair majority of them that have been around since the days that CB required a license, and still talk on that band till this day.
I would be more than willing to do so, but in my opinion it should be earned. Buying a president radio, linear amp and echo mic doesnt do it for me. I think that my main turn off with the CB is that I am not comfortable leaving a radio on with my family around... Its like the XXX channel on cable, only for the radio. I can in no way respect someone that doesn't even have any respect for themselves.
I agree with you bud.If the hams are not careful we will soon get 10 meters, there is like one repeater on 10 meters on 29.000 something an no one uses it. Also all you have to do now is get a no code tec lic an you can talk on part of the 10 meter band an this goes to show you that they want people to use 10 meters or they will close it.

This rig has an IF problem. You are picking up regular AM SWR broadcast in the IF range of the radios RX stage...nothing more.

Just goes to show the JUNK a DX99V is.
Most 'truck stop' radios have horrid receivers with no side rejection.

Why is the cb getting am radio stations?
Cause its not FCC type accepted for use in the USA.
themagicjellybeans 2 years ago
I don't know of any broadcasters on that freq. I don't think you are getting "skip".
My guess is your Galaxy could be the problem. They are 10 meter radios but you won't ever see hams using them and for good reason.
I have repaired a couple of the 10 M "exports" years ago that had solder problems in the IF stage that led to picking up broadcast stations, etc.

no brodcasts on 11 meters in the usa. in the uk they are allowed to broadcast church on fm. its prolly just some idiot palying his tv over the air.

There is no "11 Meter", just CB now. Or as I refer to it, the "Chicken Band". A useless band....

Depends on ur meaning of useless and 11 meter.
In a real emergency 11 meters is available and at any power, far from useless.
