To speak about this vidz, I played Theurgist 11L and just pbae in tower and bug exploit it was not a "best fight ever"... Best fight were on open fields with hills... Once you learn how to ignore half of the playerbase, it is pretty good. But I PvP, don't raid, so if the raiding content sucks now, too bad for you PvE'ers.
@TheMoofinii I played from day 1 to the end of WotLK, it started getting way too easy once BC came out and they removed 40 mans. Made getting epic gear not epic, and PvP used to be a lot more satisfying.

@xISAv4G3 DAoC was rated the best pvp of the past decade a year ago. So, it depends on what you consider success. If it's just subscribers then wow wins. But, if it's challenging and revolutionary pvp/rvr then daoc won hands down.
I loved this game. I teach kids now and they talk about Mount and Warband: Factions and how it is "so awesome that you can attack keeps with other players." I resist the urge to smack them on the head and tell them what a DAoC Relic keep fight was like. Seeing, literally with no exaggeration, hundreds of enemy players approaching and having to pan my camera to look at the floor just so I could move due to the approaching lag-horde.
DaoC is easily the best MMO ever. This video however, sucks. A bunch of los exploiting moc pbae spammers. LOL Definately not "the best pvp fight ever"

The current state of daoc is great, 2500 people on server cluster, thids poppin, molv poppin rvr poppin ALWAYS I see more people in the cities than I did back in 02-05 on occasion. They just opened cathal up to 50's and it was well over 100 on each side

Ok maybe there are some offline right now, but there can't be more that 5k tops. EA/Mythic really needs to make this game free already. From the posts I've been reading a lot of old-timers seem to be itching to come back, myself included. Not to mention all the players on the Freeshards that would switch.
wow i hear a lot of WoW dissing here. DAOC may have been a great game that took skill and was really fun. I'm a pvper i understand, but WoW was not a bad game it had A LOT of inside jokes everywhere you looked. The actual world and instances were beautiful and the story waswas all connect and very well done.
That sad as far as pvp goes, yes majority of the players sucked and were easy to kill but it was fun. I'm not saying WoW was the best game but by no means was it a bad one.
There many, many reasons this game remains the BEST (not by opinion) MMORPG alive to this day. It may not have as large a player base as it did ...but WoW still doesn't even come close to DAoC's prime population. (WoW's actual population hovers around 180,000 players internationally ...not the '10 million" they advertise faslely)

(At least up until you get slammed face first into the ground by the good players after you've been dumbed down so much on WoW, GW, LoTR or WAR).

Errr... Sorry to say this, but this was recorded on the European servers, back in 2002 or 2004. Peak time: 20.000 people online, (hey, it was european servers, 2 english, 4 german and 1 spanish, if memory serves me right), right now: 0. Servers have been discontinued since errr, January or February (I am aware that is after your time of posting, but still.), any european accounts can be transferred onto the American servers that still exist free of charge.

imo daoc isn't comparable to wow for the reason that daoc is way older than wow and was a first mmo experience to a lot of hardcore players. It was really difficult and impossible to do anything if you weren't social and it's mechanics were unique. WoW was directed for a wider crowd as it was really easier and solo was a lot more viable. Even if WoW had 203948324 more buttons, in daoc you should be able to position yourself right and stuff, it wasn't rly easy for newbies.

WoW has NEVER been the "best" mmo ever created. Among gamers who actually know what the fk they're doing, it's rated the worst game, and least challenging.
The PvP system is total garbage, and the PvE system is insanely boring and has no real rewarding gratification upon completing quests or raids.
@BlizzReport Blizzard cannot afford to support that many players. Especially since 30 million server spaces are reserved for Starcraft players (Both Brood War and Starcraft 2 combined.).

how is leveling up SLOW on Uthgard? I just started last night, hadnt played the game for almost 7years, and was adjusting to DAoC controls compared to SWG. I still got to level 6 or 7 the first hour I played. Uthgard FTW and I wouldnt say that looked like a great a fight but good keep defense....I saw like 3 or 4 people just standing in the back while the energy bursting guys ran the doors.

Awesome game - You find no better PvP/RvR in a MMORPG than Daoc. Really miss the good old days in RvR... Excal/Hib - DH owning every one in RvR with their Pbaoe group. Didnt Mid have Nolby Pride? or were they Hib on pryd? cant remember... but mid had a really good 8man aswell on excal.... Maelstrom? It's a shame that the current population of gamers come here and look at the graphics and immediately think this game is lame. The graphics are dated, but still to this day you will not find a better PVP game, period. Even more sad is the fact that it takes new players 50 levels of pure hell to be able to appreciate the real PVP. Hence new players will never be able to know what DAOC PVP is like.

Really do miss this game. This kinda thing could happen on a consistent basis if the 8 man group, or "Gank group" as called in game, ran together often enough and actually planned around each other.

The current state of daoc is great, 2500 people on server cluster, thids poppin, molv poppin rvr poppin ALWAYS I see more people in the cities than I did back in 02-05 on occasion. They just opened cathal up to 50's and it was well over 100 on each side

Ok maybe there are some offline right now, but there can't be more that 5k tops. EA/Mythic really needs to make this game free already. From the posts I've been reading a lot of old-timers seem to be itching to come back, myself included. Not to mention all the players on the Freeshards that would switch.

wow i hear a lot of WoW dissing here. DAOC may have been a great game that took skill and was really fun. I'm a pvper i understand, but WoW was not a bad game it had A LOT of inside jokes everywhere you looked. The actual world and instances were beautiful and the story waswas all connect and very well done.
That sad as far as pvp goes, yes majority of the players sucked and were easy to kill but it was fun. I'm not saying WoW was the best game but by no means was it a bad one.

It may not have as large a player base as it did ...but WoW still doesn't even come close to DAoC's prime population. (WoW's actual population hovers around 180,000 players internationally ...not the '10 million" they advertise faslely)

@Rottetrol54r This game takes a lot more skill than WoW or WAR do to play. Give the game a try, if you're any decent at playing on a keyboard, you'll fall inlove with it. (At least up until you get slammed face first into the ground by the good players after you've been dumbed down so much on WoW, GW, LoTR or WAR).
60 v 7-8, you can't pull that kind of shit off in WoW, where everything is handicapped in arena controlled environments for newbs and 10 year olds.

Errr... Sorry to say this, but this was recorded on the European servers, back in 2002 or 2004. Peak time: 20.000 people online, (hey, it was european servers, 2 english, 4 german and 1 spanish, if memory serves me right), right now: 0. Servers have been discontinued since errr, January or February (I am aware that is after your time of posting, but still.), any european accounts can be transferred onto the American servers that still exist free of charge.

@Frekas9291 Sorry to say, but this was recorded on the European servers, which had a max of roughly 30.000 subscribers at the peak. Ofcourse, there were only a few servers, but still. Sadly, the european servers have been officially discontinued since January or February of this year (which, I am aware, is after you posted this comment).
As far as I know, all accounts on EU servers could be transferred onto US servers free of charge.... But still... It is not the same.

imo daoc isn't comparable to wow for the reason that daoc is way older than wow and was a first mmo experience to a lot of hardcore players. It was really difficult and impossible to do anything if you weren't social and it's mechanics were unique. WoW was directed for a wider crowd as it was really easier and solo was a lot more viable. Even if WoW had 203948324 more buttons, in daoc you should be able to position yourself right and stuff, it wasn't rly easy for newbies.

WoW has NEVER been the "best" mmo ever created. Among gamers who actually know what the fk they're doing, it's rated the worst game, and least challenging.
The PvP system is total garbage, and the PvE system is insanely boring and has no real rewarding gratification upon completing quests or raids.

@BlizzReport Blizzard cannot afford to support that many players. Especially since 30 million server spaces are reserved for Starcraft players (Both Brood War and Starcraft 2 combined.).
WoW's peak population was 260,000 people, and sits at 180,000 people (The majority of whom are less than 15 years old). I'll assume you're another one of those teenage fan boys.
When you finally come off the delusion of WoW being a great game ...feel free to try a real MMo.

Here's an example: "Join the 10's of millions that have already switched to Nationwide insurance". Nationwide doesn't have to disclose how many subscrives it ACTUALLY has. It generates a number that makes you feel secure enough to trust them.
Blizzard does the same with WoW. They claim to have millions ...it creates a "bandwagon" effect for new subscribers.

"SOME" is not sufficient enough for a game to be challenging. That and if you find something related to PvE challenging then it's quite obvious you yourself are not a skilled player.
Battlegrounds PvP is not real PvP. It's structured and geared towards a goal. Like playing soccer -.-
DAoC Remains the best MMo created, since it's launch in 2001. Nothing will beat it.

What is purge? oh... well im sorry ur a 12 yr kid... wowplayer.

Daoc was the best pvp mmo i have ever played. its intense and fun, you just never feel tired of it, unlike in wow and warhammer, the pvp in those games are very repetitive.in Daoc. every fight is fun and unique.

how is leveling up SLOW on Uthgard? I just started last night, hadnt played the game for almost 7years, and was adjusting to DAoC controls compared to SWG. I still got to level 6 or 7 the first hour I played. Uthgard FTW and I wouldnt say that looked like a great a fight but good keep defense....I saw like 3 or 4 people just standing in the back while the energy bursting guys ran the doors.

Awesome game - You find no better PvP/RvR in a MMORPG than Daoc. Really miss the good old days in RvR... Excal/Hib - DH owning every one in RvR with their Pbaoe group. Didnt Mid have Nolby Pride? or were they Hib on pryd? cant remember... but mid had a really good 8man aswell on excal.... Maelstrom? And the always funny Outlaw/Zoyster alb Zerg.... and ofc Alpha Male :P

It's a shame that the current population of gamers come here and look at the graphics and immediately think this game is lame. The graphics are dated, but still to this day you will not find a better PVP game, period. Even more sad is the fact that it takes new players 50 levels of pure hell to be able to appreciate the real PVP. Hence new players will never be able to know what DAOC PVP is like.

@Krupi96 Das kannst du so nicht sagen... das scheint ein eingespieltes Team zu sein und wenn nur eine handvoll albs n bisschen Talent gehabt hätten, wären die hibbies überrant worden... im momen ist sowieso eher alb das imba Reich aber, aber es ist trotzdem noch ausbalnciert... Dass das Spiel tot ist, hat damit genau nix zu tun, das ist ein marketingfehler von Mythic/GOA und auch, dass es mittlerweile so extremviele MMORPGS gibt.
Ob und weshalb dann das Game scheisse ist, ist ansichtssache :-P
