  • This is really really bad. I mean really really really bad. Just wow......... I feel like I'm stuck in an elevator. Where are the drums?????? B.J. is turning over in his grave. Sad....

  • this version guys really sucks...this gurl with this fake and baroque voice has destroied this song...

  • Ok - the song is one of my faves. Sarah could have sung it in a lower key but all credence to her for reviving what is a truly wonderful song. The video, however, is appalling.

  • Sarah is a Siren sweetly singing.

  • The synth backup is definitely inferior to the original recording, but, even as a huge Procol Harum fan, I don't understand the dogmatic negative reaction to this cut. It's great that Sarah Brightman appreciated this fantastic song enough to cover it.

  • singing high is not singing well.

  • I was expecting the Flogging Molly song, but this is really beautiful

  • I love Sara Brightmans voice in this song, Heavenly!

  • This cover is nice, but the original song of Procol Harum is immortal.

  • Hearing Sarah Brightman do this song, I can't help but feel that there are now 2 versions of 1 of my Favorite songs.

  • What a beautiful song and well done ! I think Procol Harum would feel complimented that Sarah Brightman gave a rendition of their work it brings back to the present generation that wonderful lovely song !

  • In the words of the immortal Cosmo Kramer:

    "You got butchered"

  • the best voice ever! Sarah's voice is out of this world...

  • "A Salty Dog" is one of the best songs I have ever heard! However, unlike some other people here I love both versions. I think Sarah Brightman's version has preserved the spirit of the original, but has added something new, and the author of this video has done a great job! I must say that in some cases I don't like covers, for example I think that Jow Cocker has destroyed some nice Beatles songs.. but this is only my opinion.

  • Nicely done...makes me want to listen to Dive again!

I agree with you CapnWillTurner2, I like this version of the song better...

And Ianhet, in the land of Britney's and the like, there are good, no, GREAT singers and artists...don't dispatch all of them because of a few bubble-headed pop 'icons'.

  • A good voice is not the only, not even the first requirement to do justice to a great song. Without a true artistic sense and a deep understanding of life, a "cover" can be nothing but an empty shell, which has unfortunately become the norm, particularly with north American singers.

  • Mariah Carey, Céline Dion and Sarah Brightman are made of the same kind stuff with unespected cover. I mean SHIT

  • Well, you are welcome to your opinion, but I ask that you don't bash on my comments, because there are others here that like those that you do not.

  • Aren't we in democracy? Have you ever heard the Procol Harum original version? And did you compare their AWESOME ORCHESTRAL ARRENGEMENT to this digital blandness? Nowadays dare call music the sound coming from their mobile!!! PITY!!!

  • I have heard the original, I did not like it at all. I like this version, and I'm sorry that you can't even accept the fact there are other versions than the original one. I feel sorry that you can't even try to like covers.

  • "A Salty Dog" belongs to those songs it is impossible to cover without destroying it. I like good covers like Hendrix "All Along the Watchtower" which can hold the comparison with Dylan. Same for Joe Cocker covering Beatles "With a Little Help From My Friends". But I guess he wouldn't cover "A Day in the Life" without any damage.

  • @PCMusic75 as in a democracy

    a free opinion....

so respect other opinions and don't think your the only one with the right opinion..

    we have communists for that.

  • @PCMusic75 I came here out of curiosity and I don't like this version either, but your music fascism is an embarrassment. So everyone has got to like what you like or they are to be pitied? And you talk of democracy! LMAO! I can see you at home running the gates of the music concentration camps, ya' 'lil troll bully-boy!

  • Please dont compare Sarah with those commercial plastic dummies, Sarah does what she does amazingly, not the commercial shit like the other 2!!!!!!!!!

  • Like Whitney, Sarah has got the voice, not the songs...

  • It was my all-time favorite song from Procol Harum. I don´t usually like covers, but this one from Sarah is one big positive exeption.

I know her version of Salty Dog for about 4, 5 years now and it´s on the list of songs to play at my funural, somewhere in (far, I hope) future....

  • well done my friend. so majestic. FIRE!

  • She will be singing in heaven with all the other

angels. We're just borrowing her for a while.

    Long live the Queen
