My XP Is worse. I am using it right now. I made a Virtual Machine of Windows 7 and the whole Virtual PC froze when I ran the Firefox installation. I even get the BSOD when I run a video on Windows Media Player!!!
The "two" hard drives are just different partitions of the one inside, often the other is just for backup. go to control panel/ administrative tools/ computer management and check
Check if your WiFi is on and check in the device manager if the WiFi adapter is properly. . Did you check for drivers? Windows Updates? Did you use another Wireless Device such as DS if you have one and The DS does not connect then its your Routers fault. I have tried Vista Ultimateand have no problems with it even my Ram was 510 MB and I downloaded lots of stuff and filled my hard drive and I did not get any errors and Internet Problems and try to go to your ISP and ask them. I am on Win 7 now.
I have to agree. Windows Vista is terrible. I upgraded my laptop running XP to Vista, then Vista decided to do an automatic update, which I couldn't stop. It decided to update on its own. Then my laptop could not boot up. It was still updating itself and when it was done updating, it shut off my laptop every time. Thank goodness I was able to re-format the entire hard drive and re-install XP.
vista is better than xp tho. its the safest operating system windows brought out so far but their working on windows 7. u should of just tried and download ubuntu n see if that works. but if it dosent, well u should just switch back to xp
I've had the same problems with Vista. XP was a good OS, Vista is horrible, which is why they're coming out with Windows 7 shortly. Use system restore all the time, and if things screw up restore the system. It's awful, it's not the laptop, it's Vista. Not your fault bud.
Please consider checking your spelling and grammar before posting a 'hate' comment next time. It makes you look as stupid as the people you criticise. By the way, if you don't see anything wrong with your comment, I'll help you out a little. It's 'there', not 'their'. Fool. Oh, I also forgot to mention that you are wrong.
he needs to setup the wireless before you can connect to a wireless device and vista runs great been running it for over 2 monthes and the only time i got a blue screen was with itunes i dont know why ppl get so mad
buy an HP! lol. man, i use XP on my laptop, but i tried Vista too. Just for 2 days, i had the same f..kin' problem with may netgear wireless router. However, because my copy of vista wasn't legit, i suspect that some errors appear because it was badly cracked.
oh and thats just stupid what you just said about "two fucking hard drives", its not vistas fault, whoever installed the operating system, can format the hard drive in whatever way they want.
man your fucking great ! i swear the god ! and i hate vista too ! but if you have a XP i can give you a great windows vista ultimate theme ! that you can download it on your pc ! i like just the theme for vista because it`s new and it looks very good but vista really sucks !
That's ok. To be honest though, I'm not too bothered about the aero effects. I've downgraded back to Vista Basic from Ultimate and have had less problems than I did. I'm pretty sure, however, the source of all my problems is actually the RAM - after taking both modules out, I've realised that they're of different bus speeds - one is 667MHz and I think the other is 800 or something like that.
oh and by the way stop complaining it's called PARTITIONING not two Hard drives see what it is it's that is partitioned so that way you could have all your music, pictures, files, etc... on drive D: in case the C: drive crashes gets corrupted etc... you won't loose your files because the error will occur on the OS's drive not on the other drive.
I know what partitioning is. Don't patronise me. I have a dual-boot Ubuntu and XP PC so I think I know how to partition a drive. Vista doesn't have two real paritions, either. When running Knoppix there is blatantly only one. Besides, if Vista gets corrupted then even if I did have two real partiitions, it'll still find a way to f*ck itself up. Why? Because it's Vista, and it's awful.
mine has been working fine for 6 months now and the only problem i get is the internet explorer is not working but it doesnt matter because i use firefox anyway. looks like yours is fucked
holy crud. i have heard so much bad stuff about vista, im scared to buy the new laptop i want now XD. i was trying to watch and listen to you but you were distracting me. *blush* XD
i think people can only comment if they actually HAVE a computer with vista. I do and i can tell you first hand that it is AWFUL just like the person is saying. Anything and everything makes it run slow (this is on a brand new computer), i get that circle thing, just doing two things at once. The search function is USELESS
Windows Vista is a very good operating system, what many people do not realize is it is new!!! There was bugs with XP in the beginning and there will bugs with Vista it is that simple. Vista will be ready to use in 2 years. Getting a computer with vista preloaded on it this early is your fault. And by the way the extra hardrive is a recovery partition on your hardrive!
Also its better to have 2 hard drives, think about it, installing everything on the C drive, then Windows messes up or something goes wrong, then you've lost all you're work, in my experience installing apps and games on a different hdd/partition causes windows to run faster, also you're hardware is compatible with XP god knows why it aint installing it should no problem tbh.
No it came with Vista, and to be quite honest, I don't understand why the fuck you would like to install Vista onto your system. XP is a far superior product to Vista and would recommend it any day. Sorry if I sound like an asshole, but I'm speaking the truth mate. If however you would like a copy of Vista, feelo free to search for Google Pirate in Google, and then search for Vista releases in there. :)
I thought XP was better, but when I finally got Vista configured it was alot better than XP, more responsive, it loads faster, and in the long run it lasts longer and does not slow down, the requirements are higher, 1GB of ram will not cut it for Vista unfortunatly.
I damn well know Vista has two partitions, and find them pointless because when I install software it defaults to C: and the other partition is just free space.
I have a substantial knowledge of computing and if Ubuntu were fully compatible with my laptop I'd be using it every fucking day.
PLUS it's not my router as it has never let me down. Ever. I agree that spec-wise, my laptop is excellent but for you to say Vista is a good OS is in my opinion, sheer rubbish.
It's a 1.86GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 1.5GB RAM. OK, I admit it's more 'average' than 'excellent' though.
For some reason the laptop has been working better than before since I removed the WPA security from my wi-fi. A bit risky, but at the end of the day my neighbours are old and I doubt they even know what wi-fi is. I trust no-one will be stealing it.
I hold my views about Vista and it's just a personal opinion - I completely prefer XP to Vista any day. I'm not rubbish, I just think Vista is
Thanks for that. Nice to see people like you who can come to a mutual agreement and not argue over things like this. Take care.
P.S. You got that right too - I'm far from a Mac fanboy. Regarding the Windows vs Mac war that has been going on for decades, I'd vote Windows any day, every day. Linux is decent enough yes, but WIndows is indeed, my OS of choice.
its time to switch to mac. i've switched to mac from windows xp and believe me. Mac is futuristic and awesome. The look, feel of the hardware, the stability easibility of the os is cool. I havnt tried linux though
vista is so shit that i changed my operating systen back to xp after a month of use
it could recognise the fucking the cd drive
couldnt connect to the internet
the resolution gets messed up when ever i install a game.

Get rid of all the useless programms that eat valuable RAM.
For Example all those rightside active desktop crap.
I use Spybot S&D(in advanced mode) for killin useless programs, at startup of PC,for exmple Quicktime,MSN .
Sometimes its best to reset ur modem, while ur PC is shut down!then restart PC after Modem is fully connected.
Good luck.
