@1997RegalGS It is kind of odd to see spark plug wires but it is a nice feature (for cost). Likely the engine only has 2 coil packs instead of 4 coils on the plug. Plus, ford never could do coil on plug and the car would be blowing coils every day.
Have you got the 1.4 or 1.6 turbo diesel fiesta with a DCT gearbox???
They are really really expensive in the UK. The local dealer can NOT get me one to try which is amazing. No wonder so many dealers go out of business.
Hey Dan. I think one important review (0-60) would be the 2012 wrangler with the pentastar engine (3.6 liter V6). It has always been a great car but always lacked sufficient power. I guess we are all hoping that the new engine would take the wrangler to a new level. Would be grateful if you test the wrangler.....automatic Sahara with the 3.73 gears is the slowest among the fleet.
@chinchillawrangler So you're looking for a car that does 0-60 in under 4.5 seconds? You'll find that speed in, say, a Porsche 911, but there's no damn way you can find it at the price of a Fiesta, unless you drop a supercharged-V6 in it or something.
@NewGameReleases The Dual Clutch has several benefits on the fiesta like fuel economy improvement and no torque converter like other automatics where more power is lost through the transmission, which means the Fiesta is better on fuel yet still has better performance than traditional automatics.
@epiphonesgboy Thx! We generally take two or three stabs at it. Always from a standstill. One off idle, the second with some brake to get the revs up a bit.
I have a 2008 honda fit and this fiesta looks amazing. anyone see it make a beach landing on top gear lmao, through water sand and all, fwd and still didnt stall out.....with 5 people in the car lmao
0-60 in about 9 to 10 seconds. now consider your on an uphill freeway on-ramp with 5 passengers in the car. how would you ever reach freeway speeds in a practical manner
Learn to love the tiny fiesta if you want a small hatchback from ford. Ford recently states that the audi a3 is the competition for the ford focus so expect expensive focus cars
@KoolCordell Why would you want to turn off what is a driver safety feature? If you want to wheelspin and lose control for some odd reason - don't buy a car with it fitted. Do you also turn off your ABS? How about drive without wearing a seatbelt, or maybe you have removed airbags and don't use lights at night!
If it's a safety feature then use it - I do and can't see why I would ever want to turn traction control off. It doesn;t make sense, it also voids your insurance.
@urbex2007 your insurance is not void simply for usinga feature of your car that is why you pay them to insure your car including all of it's features. Me i track my car so i would like to be able to turn the traction control off that way i dont boil my brake fluid. i can KINDA understand undefeatable stability control. you want to prevent sudden oversteer. However manufactures are morte often using electronics to compasate for poor handling
@urbex2007 preventing you from ever getting close to the limits of the chasis. I personally perfer to have a traction off button so at least i can take it to the track and safely do more than 2 laps without boiling the fluid. I love the fiestia but i wouldnt own one for the simple fact this is marketed as a sporty premium hatchback that to me means you should be able to turn every thing off and drive it to it's limits since they claim it is sporty.
@Stanley112803 Very sensible comment. A lot of people use a car as an alternative to walking, bus, train, taxi or getting a lift. It's used for a purpose to get from one point to another, to go for shopping, or go to work. Others use them to race with people, drive dangerously for some sort of self gratification and are a menace to other road users. In the city centre by me you can't do more than 20-30mph as all the traffic lights are sequenced to cause maximum congestion. This car is OK!
Since when does the entry vehicle of any car maker launch off the line like a bullet?? Leave that to the Ecoboost Focus coming soon.
PEople who purchase a car in this price range should never expect much speed. For what this car is in it's class & price range, it's a decent car. Was at the C. FLA autoshow today and it was 1 of the most looked little cars there and it had the most decent interior, looks, & price. Heck, What little out there today has a 6 speed auto? None
These tester cars must not last much longer than their life as a tester, all you see is 0-60 and stuff with less than 500 miles on them. Nothing against you or anything, I've just noticed that's always how they are.
@kyle51895 I can't speak for other testers, but other than the 0-60 tests, we're easy on our test cars. We don't flog the daylights out of them and usually only take three runs at WOT.
@crystalscan2002 agreed, due to how much more it weighs than previous models. The engine is also detuned to comply with new emission laws in the UK - so we get the really slow cars! A lot of power is also wasted in the transmission. It's best to get a manual, but this is fine if you do short start/stop journeys and don't want to use the clutch and gears every few seconds! The focus is a better car and better value now, the 1.6 diesel is 0-60 in 10s and £110 road tax per year. Go for a focus!!
@mpgomatic It's actually better for the car, the oil temperature increases and burns off residual fuel and any carbon will receive a good amount of scrubbing.
@kyle51895 I see nothing bad with doing only 0-100 (or 0-60mph), Instead....I liked what he done. I considered test drive Fiesta form his video, Nice Idea of making so many 0-100 test on different cars.
@qztronic It's typically not the best for the engine to do full throttle starts with less than like 1,000 miles on it. That's what I was talking about.
So your gonna do the dual clutch Dan? Was Ford not satisfied with giving you the 5 speed? How are you feeling about it. The 44MPG with the stick was pretty damn amazing. Do you feel this will outclass it in economy?
@flatblackstrat I asked to test both ... it just took a while to get the dual-clutch out here. These are fun little cars to drive. While the dual-clutch gear changes are faster than the manual gear changes, it lacks a slap-stick or paddles. The MPG numbers are close.
@flatblackstrat Fingers crossed, it'll be a fun/busy year. I need to get the Sonata rescheduled. The weather gets dicey here in the winter ... makes it tough to plan/shoot. I was able to get the CR-Z slotted in for this coming week ...
@petorian1 Not as crappy as that comment. Hyundai's are actually some of the highest reviewed and most reliable cars on the road. The last 5 years of Hyundai have been revolutionary and they are offering value and fuel economy much like the Japanese did in the 70-80s. The Kia Optima and Hyundai Sonata are the best bang for the buck in the whole Mid-sized segment. It is also one of the highest reviewed cars in the Mid-sized segment as well. Hyundais were crap when they used Mitsu parts.
@flatblackstrat Im sorry but they are not built like the hondas or toyotas my uncle owns a honda dealer and he also runs the kia dealer that is just next door kias tend to show lots of problems at about 100k miles there just not built to last long and so are hyundai's I know this from expereicence.
@petorian1 Toyotas are no longer built like the Toyotas of 10 years ago. As for the longevity of Hyundais you are partially right. But their newest models have not been on the road long enough for you uncle to see 100K on one. A five year old Hyundai is when they started to match the Japanese in "initial quality", not longevity or reliability, that will prove itself with the last 2-3 years of new cars they have released up to present, minus the Genesis platform haha.
@sleeksilver Oh I read I have an uncle that owns a honda dealership and he knows all about kias because he also runs the kia dealership just down the block so sorry I do know how they are made. I also don't drive one because ill stick with my 2008 gmc sierra anyday.
I have a question about dual clutches. How are they different from regular slush boxes? Do you have to shift them yourself at all times? How are they quicker?
@vipermoon64 two different clutches. one for even gears and one for odd gears. when one clutch is disengaging, the other one is engaging. if you look at the GTI with the DSG, the shifts are lightning quick. They are automatic or auto-manuals. you can shift them yourself if you want to.
@StillOnWin95 I have a GTI with the DSG and it shifts crazy fast. Whenever someone's in the passenger's seat it's one of the first things they say about the car. The Fiesta's shifts look awfully slow compared to the DSG's.
@StillOnWin95 they are lightening quick, and seem to almost give the tach whiplash when it shifts. :-) haha, not so much for this car, maybe it's just lacking power or something...or Ford tried to make a dual clutch auto...somethings not right.
@focusonthegreen only one problem in the UK - Road Tax will be high as anything other than a manual car is charged excessively, the same for any vehicle with 4WD. Service costs are also high, but you do not need to use a main dealership to preserve the warranty on any UK car even though the dealers lie about this! It is a good car for town use and gives good MPG, but if you want 50+MPG in the town buy the diesel or a focus 1600cc diesel which is faster. The 1.25 manual is just as fast!
finally the video i have been WANTING TO SEE!im itching about the fiesta,or a chevy cruze for my new car options,...or maybe a hyundai accent but i like the fiesta a lot now
