2. Possibly related to #1. How to get the keyboard to STOP launching apps while I'm typing. Especially the shutdown dialog. Very aggravating while you're typing and in the middle of a sentence (and THOUGHT), Windows either logs off or SHUTS DOWN!!!!

second of all it is not boot up when the computer starts to run windows it's called start up.
boot up has nothing to do with windows or linux start up. boot up is your motherboard bios checking to see if your system can start up.

i curently use windows 7 and i love it over vista but i will tell you my parents computer is so old it was when xp first came out i think a simaler build whith this same very case from the cow(aka gateway) had win 200 so whith that said i know there computer is old but i was at least able to se a stress test and xp was considerably smoother than the lowest x86 form of xp of course all my pcs ar freshly installed to obtaing better scores (i tend to never ever eva eva gaing my best scores back )

something went wrong with your upgrade. 2 Fix backup your data and clean install. In xp I clean install bout once every 6months. Now with 7 I did a clean install tweaked setting till my hearts desire made a system image back with the built in software and now In 8 Mins my computer its backup and runnning full speed with all my setting gotta love it.

Well I think your main problem is you don't have a clue about how things work, and secondly you don't know how to properly fresh install an SO. Of course the ones that come pre installed will run better if you don't take the basic necessary measures to ensure proper functioning, like installing drivers. If you do, then it's the other way around, because your OS will be cleaner, without the rubish the makers want to impose to you. You should also consider defraging your HDD
why don't you try wiping your hard drive then installing 7 on a blank drive? create a backup of course. but this way you delete the vista operating system and don't have any extra files serving no purpose laying around.
or buy a mac, and you can run any windows os anyways.
You should never fucking "upgrade" an operative system, you're supposed to format the C:\ disc and then run the new OP then get the latest updates and drivers, otherwise you have a bunch of old settings and files, also the hole damn registry is fucked up. If you don't have a dvd-drive, or don't know how to install an OP with USB, then you need to get alot of software to fix the new "upgraded" version of your previous OP.
man, you should definitely know that when you have a lot of crap installed on your computer you should DEFINITELY NOT UPGRADE!!! Just do a clean install, don't bother upgrading... Windows 7 is definitely not a nightmare. And as you describe your super-computer, in my opinion, you should install MS-DOS 6.22 on it, believe me, it's gonna handle it...

I've gone from Windows XP to Windows 7 doing a clean install and it works perfectly fine. I use video editing software and music software so I'm not an average computer user. I've not had a single problem with the actual OS. I know someone who has upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 and same applies to them so no problems here. I think your computer is probable infected with Vista shitness. Recommend doing a clean install because if any OS out there is going to make you computer slow, it's Vista.

It's faster, and at worse, PAR with XP. Ranging from modern to old computers that were to weak to support Vista. Might want to look into other people's experiences and REAL tests done on all kinds of computers, laptops, netbooks, etc. And look into other factors before assuming the new OS is crap.

Why in the world would you do an upgrade instead of a clean install, everyone knows you don't do upgrades you do clean installs, it makes everything work better and its always recommended, I have a P4, 2.80GHz, 1GB of memory desktop and it to my surprise runs windows 7 with aero, it does get a bit slow at times because I am pushing it.
never ever just upgrade. Clean install is needed. On an upgrade windows will try and use the old non windows 7 drivers. Causing major issues. not a damn thing wrong with windows 7. beats the crap out of vista and nearly kicks the crap out of windows xp.

I have no problems with windows 7 (using it for like 1 week). I think it's much faster than xp, can't tell from vista cuz I haven't used it. I like the interface of it too, those big icons and the aero shake is a cool feature. The bad thing about it that almost all of the old games don't run in full screen probably cuz they don't support higher resolution(mine is 1680x1050). I hope they fix this when the service packs come out, but overall I prefer windows 7.

I upgraded to Windows 7 on 2 Dell laptops (inspiron 1545 and Studio 1737) . Both 64 bit Home and Professional. One was a simple upgrade and one was clean install. Both install fine and runs quicker than Vista. Not sure about your PC, as it's more powerful than both my laptops. The only thing is try a clean install and keep your BIOS up to date.

I have a Sony VAIO Aw series Intel Quad-Core processor Q9000 6GB Ram 250 Gb of hardrive I had Vista before Windows7 I had aload of programes too such as Sony vegas pro 9 Camtasia studio 6 And the only programme that didn't work with Windows7 was Pinnacle Studio I needed to run its compatibility with Vista so i did and it works fine. Windows 7 boosted p my boot time and i don't have any problems with laggy ness or anything your describing but every computers diffrent.
This is why i'm going to switch to a mac when I can afford to.One of my best friends has used a mac for years with no problems. And proved it to me by showing his laptop running several programs with it's speed still intact no lagging.

I think the whole vista, shortly followed by 7 was done on purpose.
Lets face it, after vista, any half arsed OS is going to look good by comparison.
This way, when MS released 7, everyone thought it was amazing.
But then when you compare 7 to XP, you realise there isn't much of a difference.
7 is just a less professional, and more dumbed down/more friendly version of a windows OS.
After 4 months of being patronised by windows 7, I went back to XP.

man, you should definitely know that when you have a lot of crap installed on your computer you should DEFINITELY NOT UPGRADE!!! Just do a clean install, don't bother upgrading... Windows 7 is definitely not a nightmare. And as you describe your super-computer, in my opinion, you should install MS-DOS 6.22 on it, believe me, it's gonna handle it...

At my offices windows 7 is not compatible with most programs and its slow and it has tendency to just close your outlook without reason....we just bought those 3 to 4 computers - it' s not suggested to open multiple with Windows 7 as I can tell you it is slow as fuck! I hate it. So Enrique there's a lot of people have issues with Windows 7 and unless YOU'VE TALKED TO EVERY USER - YOU'RE CLAIM IS WRONG!

I've gone from Windows XP to Windows 7 doing a clean install and it works perfectly fine. I use video editing software and music software so I'm not an average computer user. I've not had a single problem with the actual OS. I know someone who has upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 and same applies to them so no problems here. I think your computer is probable infected with Vista shitness. Recommend doing a clean install because if any OS out there is going to make you computer slow, it's Vista.

LOL, omg, I usually don't comment on reviews I think are so stupid, but I had to. Just remove this, but it's a proven fact millions of times over that 7 is MUCH faster and smoother than Vista. It's faster, and at worse, PAR with XP. Ranging from modern to old computers that were to weak to support Vista. Might want to look into other people's experiences and REAL tests done on all kinds of computers, laptops, netbooks, etc. And look into other factors before assuming the new OS is crap.

i didn't had this problem, but it might be because you upgraded. it is better to completly reinstall windows.
it isn' t slow at my pc and i only have 2 gb of ramm and it never goes over 30 %
and for the programs: right click on the programicon click on "properties" and then on "compatibility" and turn it on vista,

Why in the world would you do an upgrade instead of a clean install, everyone knows you don't do upgrades you do clean installs, it makes everything work better and its always recommended, I have a P4, 2.80GHz, 1GB of memory desktop and it to my surprise runs windows 7 with aero, it does get a bit slow at times because I am pushing it.

never ever just upgrade. Clean install is needed. On an upgrade windows will try and use the old non windows 7 drivers. Causing major issues. not a damn thing wrong with windows 7. beats the crap out of vista and nearly kicks the crap out of windows xp.

Win 7 64 will have more problems for drivers from 32bit
Upgrade Win 7 64 bit was never properly tested
And for 32 and 64 bit I suggest a clean installation and especially win 7 64th
The basic rule first check drivers and then buy 7 win

I have no problems with windows 7 (using it for like 1 week). I think it's much faster than xp, can't tell from vista cuz I haven't used it. I like the interface of it too, those big icons and the aero shake is a cool feature. The bad thing about it that almost all of the old games don't run in full screen probably cuz they don't support higher resolution(mine is 1680x1050). I hope they fix this when the service packs come out, but overall I prefer windows 7.

I upgraded to Windows 7 on 2 Dell laptops (inspiron 1545 and Studio 1737) . Both 64 bit Home and Professional. One was a simple upgrade and one was clean install. Both install fine and runs quicker than Vista. Not sure about your PC, as it's more powerful than both my laptops. The only thing is try a clean install and keep your BIOS up to date.
