  • Lol I love listening to people that suck at guitar.

  • If you are realy into those weird modes try the Phrygian Dominant (1 - b2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - b6 - b7). Some people like to call it the persian scale

  • Dude that's harmonic minor XD

  • hey try a phrygian mode. sounds egyptian too

  • don't try to show the scale knowledge you havn't : learn iit before ;)

  • where are your eyes?

  • isn't that just harmonic minor?

  • I don't get people who make videos like this when they can't even play it properly.

  • diminished to b solo by necrophagist, then go to bed.

  • Harmonic Minor scale? :/

  • I think you mean Indian sounding guitar scale

  • muito ruim carak, como voçe teve coragem de postar isso?????

  • Tetragrammaton... that is all

  • NICE!!

  • guys go easy on him he obliously jsut stared playing guitar they day before he made this

  • isnt that the harmonic minor scale?

  • @vannimal2 Thats exactly what it is. The E harmonic minor scale.

  • Nice one buddy, enjoyed the tutorial, cheers :-)

  • Take your hair out of your eyes and see a video of Nile...

  • sell your fucking guitar please

  • do u even know wat the scale is called or wat notes ure playing

  • first one was harmonic minor. the egyptian scale is the same as the pentatonic, however you would play the a minor pentatonic over the key of d minor to get that weird sound

  • you are such a bunch of stupid assholes why aint you busy getting better??

  • your ...instrument has an aweful sounding distortion...

  • its called a harmonic minor btw.

  • idiot.. it's called the aeolian mode! what a loser

  • As for the second scale, seems to be a broken, more pentatonic F# phrygian scale skipping the 3rd and 7th degrees. There actually is an egyptian scale, its like the harmonic minor scale, only the 4th degree is raised so u end up with 1 2 b3 #4 5 b6 7, but imo a more egyptian sounding scale is the harmonic minor scale starting from the 5th degree, this scale also gives u one of my favorite chords: the dominant b9 chord, sort of dissonant chord that usually concludes a harmonic minor progression.

  • @strife725 its called phyrgian dominant, its alot of peoples favorite scale. the "egyptian" scale you talking about iv always heard refered to as hungarian minor. Also your wrong about the "not a real scale" thing. harmonic minor was used to get a leading tone in minor, so it makes sense to go to natural minor when you descend, just like when you play melodic minor in a classical context, the return to natural form when you descend. just an FYI

  • @93thrasher he does play it kinda like a dumbass though, its obvious hes not sure what hes doing

  • @strife725 along with that Egyptian has nothing to do with it. It's India -> Middle East -> Spain that plays those sort of scales.

  • that's kind of both harmonic and natural minor scale in one minor. starting from the 7th scale degree it comes down in natural minor then after the root it goes to the major 7th getting that harmonic major sound. Idk what to call this scale because it's two scales E harmonic/natural minor scale. I can see why people didn't like this, it's not a real scale.

  • LoL, a simple minor harmonic scale...

And it reminds classical music, not egyption!

  • Those haircuts give me bad anxiety for some reason. Or maybe its just anger...Either way its just ridiculous. God damn Bieber Fever!

  • Just give me your guitar and call it even.....

  • Why use a les paul goldtop with P-90 single coil pickups, they have les paul standards in the goldtop color but with the better alcino humbuckers

  • @awsomejustin8 Why not use a GT with P-90 pickups?

  • @cheeseburgerplz Goldtops are fine, just the P-90s are better for blues, that was the intent when the les paul was first created. But the alcino humbuckers sound better for all sorts of music like metal, rock, blues, jazz, etc.

  • its a harmonic minor scale... im sure you know that by now though (y)

  • harmonic minor?... wow ignorance really IS bliss until you let everyone realize how dumb you are by posting a video of it.

  • It sounds like ending solo in Creeping Death, by Kirk Hammett (Metallica).

  • and actually harmonic scale consists of notes that in the 7 degree we put a #

  • its not egyptian scales men LOL!!! they called harmonics ........ WTF

  • @nickhammersmith Sure they're Harmonic Minor scales, but if we put this in context, we might call this the Phrygian Dominant mode

  • Listen to some nile and then kill yourself!!!

  • @Lavizan1349 User Maat Re. :) <3

  • @AlexWatersMusic Yeah \m/ pretty much anything from them

  • u want a good scale?? learn megadeth wake up dead the mustaine outro solo

  • why dont you fix the fret buzz then?

  • Isn't this more like an arabic scales? btw theres A LOT of different scales out there.

  • FAGGOT

  • you may just have to adjust the bridge on your guitar to get rid of that buzz. do some research.

  • Cool dude. Ask your cousin about the modes. Experiment with them and a mind-blowing world of different sounds will be revealed. Keep practicing!

  • The second scale is a sort of Lydian pentatonic. I don't know if there is an alternate name, but trying to make a pentatonic scale emphasizing the distinctive tones of Lydian would lead you to it. It is 1 3 #4 5 7 1. Lydian often sounds 'dreamy' so it would make sense that the pentatonic derivative sounds 'alien' to you. Another interesting one is a sort of Mixolydian pentatonic which is 1 3 4 5 b7 1. I hear it in some Mahavishnu tunes, and part of the theme to 'Freak Show Excess' by Steve Vai.

  • skip to 2:01 if you want to hear what it sounds like without listening to 2 minutes of stupid

  • How do u play?!?!?! I NEED an answer by tomorrow! plzz help me!

  • @needstobefamouse just look up the harmonic scale dude. thats all this is

  • I bet this kid might shit his pants if he hears the melodic scale...

  • noob!!!

  • Root, half, whole and a half, half, whole, half, whole and a half, half.

    In the key of C, it is: C - Db - E - F - G - Ab - B - C

I think that you'll find that the Byzantine scale (double-harmonic minor) scale sounds much more evil and... Exotic.

  • i just learned this scale on another vid on yt, the guy says its spanish and on the the top e string you play 10-8-7..... im new to this just letting you know

  • I just wanted to let everyone know that this guitar scale is actually a Spanish flamenco scale. :D

I found this out a long time ago, but let's just say Europe at one time had a lot of influence from the Middle East (which is why a lot of Italians are dark skinned too!)

  • I found out this too, alone... But I thought It was too silly to put it on Youtube.. And I don't have a "Bieber" hair like yours, eh!

  • It's the harmonic minor scale!

  • @plasmakevin No... those are roman numeral chord symbols tht you're using. And they're all wrong. You're meaning to say it's 1 2 b3 4 5 b6 7. If you wanted the correct roman numefal analysis, it would be i ii° III+ iv V VI vii°.

  • Harmonic Minor is....

I II iii IV V vi VII I

  • My friend tought me what you just did as the Jewish Harmonic scale...

Also, that better not be Gibson..

  • @MatthewUrsaki

    Jewish Harmonic Scale-LOL!

I have to remember that one

  • @LeMaitreDeSorts ShadesAndRed was right. Harmonic definitely is the most common form. Natural (despite it's name) is almost HARDLY ever used. I bet you can't find ONE song in a minor key that uses a v chord as opposed to a V chord. And if you don't know what that is, then clearly you don't know jack shit about music theory. Gosh, it's people like you who make people think all guitarists are second-rate musicians.

  • @PatrickJansen927 Actually, natural minor is much more common. And what does a V chord have to do with it? V would be a major chord, not harmonic minor, but yes V is the most common and is usually a dominant 7th chord. v isn't as common, but I've definitely heard it tons of times (try playing an open A Major chord, then an E minor...this would be I v...sounds good to me). Sounds like something Radiohead would use.

  • You're ALL WRONG. The first (almost) octave of the scale, from D to E, starting on the 10th fret of the high e ending on the the 9th fret of the G string is natural minor- the D, as opposed to D# indicates that, and the second octave from E on the 9th fret on the G string to the E on the 7th fret of the A string is harmonic minor, as the 8th fret of the G string is a D#, signifying harmonic minor.

  • thats harmonic minor retard

  • It's not an "Egyptian harmonic scale"....It's just called a harmonic (minor) scale.

It's the most common form of the minor scale.

    Music Theory, sucka.

  • @ShadesAndRed You've got to be kidding..

Natural minor is the most common form of the minor scale.

    -.-

  • I am Egyptian and I am offended by the scale!!!!

  • @vernadoon Ha!! you know damn well that you are from New Jersey. Quit hating on this kid!

  • @vernadoon LOL

  • @vernadoon /watch?v=_0WgfeQsUDk this is a real Egyptian scale + song

  • @vernadoon Shouldn't you be revolting or something...?

  • @StefanSigmundsson89 Nope I am specialized at dying post football matches riots

  • phrygian dominant scale.

  • herp derp just cause that's the final scale of creeping death, wich talks about egypht and shit it doesn't mean it's an Egypthian sounding scale. And it's called minor armonic scale

  • @emedi0 gran respuesta,

  • BIEBER!!!!!!!!!!

  • am egyptian and that sounded nothing like egyptian :P, racist stereo types ftw LOL

  • Why didn't your cousin record it?

  • @ClikeWorks why didn't your parents use birth control?

  • @stix471

    Clever.

  • @ClikeWorks ;) <3

  • Dude nice. YT(the world) is full of insecure people. Keep playing, you rock.

  • you need to rase the bridge a little that will get rid of the fret buzz.

  • You need a Haircut dude...

Ah and that was the E Minor Harmonic ...

  • ZOMGZ FUCKIN E MINOR HARMONIC SCALEZ WHOOOOOOOAAAAA BRAH FUCKING MIND BLOWING MY FUCKING FACE IS MELTED BECAUSE YOURE SUCHAWESOME FUCKING SHREEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDER

  • Wow, some of you guys are plain dicks. I know music theory too. However, there is no reason to be an asshole and act like your knowledge is superior when there are 8 year old kids who can master music theory. You are idiots. Take all that effort, time, and aggression you wasted in your comment and put it into a composition.

  • Harmonic minor, it's just the standard minor with the raised 7th.

  • Phrygan Dominant

  • @MrAndy24deth This guy needs to study his modes before professing what his scale is he is playing (and curb the THC a bit). But yes this is the Phyrigian Dominant scale (5th mode of the Harmonic Minor Scale). You can hear it in "Powerslave" by Iron Maiden and the live intro to "Unforgiven" by Metallica but also is in so many other songs and styles. Though he does almost make a passing attempt at 2 genuine exotic scales (Ake-Bono and Arabic Scales). But hey, give him credit for trying new stuff.

  • Just wondering but is that guitar bass or electric sorry i can never tell other than if im actually there to see it

  • raise your action; why is it so hard?

  • ...are you thinking of INDIAN influences by any chance? ...that "buzz" you referred to is fucking awful, too...it sounds like a fucking kazoo.

  • The first octave is harmonic minor, but you play a seventh, not a sharpened seventh as the last note, before completing the full two octaves, making the second octave of the scale, just minor.

  • um uh play the damn scale already!. Well, that is not egyptian. Its harmonic minor. Alien scale sound like japanese pentatonic.

Finally , egyptian is r,-2,3,4,5 ,-6,7+! um uh

  • Thats just a harmonic minor scale. One of the most basic scales of western music..

  • i shit on the thought of that sounding egyption

  • congrats u discovered harmonic minor scale....now apply it to jazz

  • more spanish than egyptian. Am to Emaj.

  • Who didn't know this scale? Everybody knows this scale.

  • I facepalmed so fucking hard. get it set up. Harmonic minor man.

  • Yo man, I'm really happy for you, and I'mma let you finish, but harmonic minor scales are the most egyptian sounding scales of all time... oh wait.

  • it doesn't sound egyptian at all.

  • Yeah harmonic minor

  • sounds egyptian to me super kool

  • I think its a harmonic scale.

  • are you hitting the major 7th or do you skip it??

  • No, it's an Egyptian harmonic scale! :D

  • thats a natural harmonic minor scale but yeah u can play around with that and do cool stuff with it

  • the last note needs to be sharpened by a semitone to get the harmonic minor man. nice one tho

  • i love how everyoneeeeee and there mother are all "Harmonic minor!" haha ^_^

  • bingo

  • Harmonic minor, brudda. Minor scale with a major 7th.

  • Those would be harmonic minor scales, bud.

  • harmonic minor!

  • That looks like one Adrian Smith's guitars

  • All we need now is an Egyptian not approving of the guy in the video.

  • harmonic minor scale.

  • Actually the fret buzzing makes this sound like a Citar which is what u want so it helps the sound. I would fix the buzzing may need fret leveling done not hard i just did my one Jackson.

  • dude... egyptian? really? its the minor harmonic scale... try more like bach...

arabian music has the 1\4 tone steps... ur scale is just a minor scale with a high 7th... learn some theory dude...

  • Nice hair

  • This is minor scale, and then you shift with harmonic scale.... that's not really ONE scale, it's a mix of two scales, because you are playing a D, which is the 7th note of E minor scale, but then you play a D# which is 7th of the E harmonic scale.

  • This is some of the scales Acrassicauda uses to get their metal middle eastern sound. I know because my friend Mohammed joined them as a 5th member and plays guitar for them now.

  • what guitar do u got/

  • Harmonic minor scale

  • you look gay.

  • Fallenlove1013 no it's not, it's harmonic minor

  • Theres a guy under that hair somewhere.

  • noob

  • by the way the last note you played when you started was flat...

  • its called a harmonic minor...

you take a natural minor scale and you sharpen the 7th note.

    thats all you do.

  • Sorry man. Gibson moved thier Epiphone plant to china. Like every other damn china product. The new chinia Epiphones SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. I'm so pissed at Gibson for becoming cheap asses. Quality USED to be thier main stream. KNown around the world as the best. Now bottom line money is thier concern. And thier becoming inferieor. So damn sad Cause I LOVE Les Pauls. I've been looking to buy a new one for 2 years now. But they arent the great quality they were. So I'm looking for a 70's Paul

  • That aint the Egyptian scale, boy! It's the harmonic minor.

  • @ZeppelinFloydRoses yes the egyptian sound would come from an arabic scale

  • @ZeppelinFloydRoses it's not an Arabic scale. doesn't come from anywhere in particular. it's just one of the minor scales (:

  • its a phrygian scale

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU LEARNED HOW TO PLAY THE 5TH MODE OF THE HARMONIC SCALE.............. MAYBE YOU CAN SHOW US HOW TO PLAY THE MAJOR SCALE NEXT NEXT.... EPIC FAIL MAN

  • Ooh tough guy with the minor harmonic

  • @wweandtna12 Harmonic Minor* BA ZING!!!

  • Yup! Egyptian alright.. but stones did it on Paint it Black ! ^^

  • Actually that is the harmonic scale, but at all you guys who say it isn't Egyptian, in fact it is used in Egyptian guitar solos. Nice guitar

  • Arabic maybe

  • It's Phrygian b4, the 5th mode of the harmonic minor scale.

Except when you went down to the lower octave, you played a perfect 4th. The 7th fret on A should be a 6th fret to flatten the 4th :]

    tiny . cc / nu6bh

(Bottom left mode is the one you want :] )
