I don't understand why some people say the first Assassin's Creed was bad (at least from what I've heard). I will admit that it is a little repetitive, but this game is still awesome, just as the other installments. I can't wait for Assassin's Creed III. :)

I love this series but I recommend you play them in order otherwise you don't get the full story. I started on AC II and didn't much understand the background and so I went back to the first game except now I miss the better game mechanics of the newer game lol

@elviade Play the game, you're dead wrong. That's not what Assassin's Creed is about and especially not about terrorists killing "Crusaders" for money. The assassin's are more or less the good guys, to tell you without much spoilers. The game is about Altair, an Syrian Assassin from Maysaf, and he has to stop these so called Templars who commit vicious crimes. But that's putting it pretty simple, the storyline behind Assassin's Creed goes much further.
Good things about this game, amazing cities and sites, so much detail. Awesome variety of skills. Climbing buildings. Interesting storyline
Flaws - really repetitive, same missions after about 2 assassinations you don't care about anyone anymore, awkward fighting, looong slooooow cut scenes. and lots of little annoying things during gameplay. Story development was poor
why doesn't he talk about the flaws? yes AC1 is a great game, and the flaws don't make it unplayable, but at least give a fair review and talk about the parts that need improvement

why does everyone think that ezio is better then altair? ezio is built on revenge in ac2, but altair is a killing machine built on percision and getting the job done without being somewhat wreckless like ezio is sometimes. im not hating on ezio but altair is just a better assassin overall.
I played this game for 3 days I came back to it and all my save data was gone and I was back at the begining but I could still exit the annomus which you can't do untill after the tutorial level

Better story, characters, locations (awesome Italy), and refined combat. Yet, AC it was fresh air at the time, (2006).

It' a pretty game, to be sure, but there is NO substance here; it is totally devoid of any kind of gameplay whatsoever. Assassin's Creed is a tech demo, not a game.
@poopamultimatepoopy True...maybe "mechanics" was the wrong word. The architecture in inFAMOUS appears to be inspired by Assassin's Creed.
I say this, because Assassin's Creed was heavily praised for being one of (if not THE) first game(s) in which the buildings actually LOOK real, yet you can still climb them by grabbing on to windows, beams, etc.
I hope that the old noteriety system from AC1 comes back. Its was so much better than the new one with all the wanted signs. In AC2 or brotherhood I kill a really important guy, and all I have to do is escape. In AC1, I loved the feeling that when you assassinated someone, the whole city knew about you. I would have to run to the assasins hideout, and fight half of the guards in the city, and then it was over and I was safe. I miss running from every guard in the city.Bring back the old system!!

@carig121 yep and the side quests are the same thing. Sitting on benches, pickpocketing or beating up a random guy for information and thats it. you do the same thing over and over. It was fun for the first few hours but then you get bored out of your mind. The weird story as well.
Assassin's Creed 2 may have better combat etc. But I'm a sucker for a medieval setting and the Crusadesis my favourite events in history which is why I like this game more than AS2 :D
You said Altair's voice actor is the weak link, and while I do agree, on the AC nerd site it says that the english version of him sounds COMPLETELY different than all the other languages. I assume by "different" they may mean "good"

I love this series but I recommend you play them in order otherwise you don't get the full story. I started on AC II and didn't much understand the background and so I went back to the first game except now I miss the better game mechanics of the newer game lol

It' a pretty game, to be sure, but there is NO substance here; it is totally devoid of any kind of gameplay whatsoever. Assassin's Creed is a tech demo, not a game.

I say this, because Assassin's Creed was heavily praised for being one of (if not THE) first game(s) in which the buildings actually LOOK real, yet you can still climb them by grabbing on to windows, beams, etc.

This game is not on DS. There is a game called Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles that is a prequel.
it has the same boxart as AC1. for some strange reason.xD
And there is game called Assassin's Creed: Discovery that is about Ezio. that's all you get on DS.

I hope that the old noteriety system from AC1 comes back. Its was so much better than the new one with all the wanted signs. In AC2 or brotherhood I kill a really important guy, and all I have to do is escape. In AC1, I loved the feeling that when you assassinated someone, the whole city knew about you. I would have to run to the assasins hideout, and fight half of the guards in the city, and then it was over and I was safe. I miss running from every guard in the city.Bring back the old system!!

@carig121 yep and the side quests are the same thing. Sitting on benches, pickpocketing or beating up a random guy for information and thats it. you do the same thing over and over. It was fun for the first few hours but then you get bored out of your mind. The weird story as well.

Assassin's Creed 2 may have better combat etc. But I'm a sucker for a medieval setting and the Crusadesis my favourite events in history which is why I like this game more than AS2 :D

You said Altair's voice actor is the weak link, and while I do agree, on the AC nerd site it says that the english version of him sounds COMPLETELY different than all the other languages. I assume by "different" they may mean "good"
