Here is the chart of 1997 cars: 1.Volvo S40 -26 p. 2.VW Passat -19 p. 3.Opel Vectra -18 p. 4.Renault Laguna -17 p. 4.Audi A4 -17 p. 4.Ford Mondeo -17 p. 5.Mercedes-Benz C Class -16 p. 6.Peugeot 406 -15 p. 7.Saab 900 -12 p. 8.Rover 600 -11 p. 9. BMW 3 Series -10 p. 10. Citroen Xantia -9 p. I think there's all of them. You do the judge.
Let me tell you about these crash tests.I won a 1997 Vauxhall Vectra GLS.Not a bad car in fact I like it.But I will always try my best not too be hit on either side. These tests are like 2 cars on a head on collision of just 20 mph...20..MPH.That is scary,if a lot of these cars had the test at spped of say 60 or just 20 mph faster,the story would be very different.A 5 star rated car,would fail. 2 cars that hit head on at 60 is like hitting a wall at 120 mph.There is only on word..dead.
Also, as for your statement,sorry I disagree.The speed to weight ratio can nothold the same merit.A single car crashing into a wall at 60,sure,will hit the wall at 60.Two vehicles of the same weight that collide into each other head on, is doubling the speed into the wall.
A truck an car crash still has the same velocity and same way (head on)but the impact can be 4 times or greater the value. Watch a Fifth Gear segment on Head on at true highway speeds,not this 40 stuff.

The best thing about these old tests is you can see how much progress has been made since.

I have actually crashed my vectra b at 90km/h, fixed it and sold it afterwards. From my personal experience it is much better than bmw 530!

So not won...I own a 1997 Vauxhall Vectra GLS.Sorry about that.

@canadiantimberwolf1:
You're wrong. Two cars with same weight that hit each other with 60, is equal to hitting a wall with 60.

@numsedoktor,I got rid of that Vectra, as I found out over time (just a few months)what I have always known... a GMC vehicle is..Garbage.
