In the current political climate, many states are sidestepping with full intention of circumventing the intent of Roe V. Wade, which allows women the right to privacy in abortion decisions from 24 to 26 weeks of gestation. I urge everyone to write to their senators, their representatives, and the President and demand the government restore a woman's right to privacy, and the right to say no to governmentally mandated invasive procedures. They are illegal, and they violate the Constitution.

The high cost of health care is because insurance companies pay huge costs for simple medical items like $600 for a simple saline iv bag and $300 for a 30 min Oxygen cylinder with nasal cannula.

Additionally the day after pill for women to abort the day after unprotected sex was originally going to be $ 10 dollars but congress gave to rights to just one company to make it .....and that company now sells the day after pill for 1500 per pill....

The majority of women are the main caretakers of their elder parent's, husbands, kid's and husband's parent's. Who are there for them when they get sick and are in need of medical attention? I know for a fact that if you are a woman, you don't get the same type of health care that men do and it's because a lot of doctors think that women's symptoms are due to depression when she actually has an underlying illness that is causing the depression. So it makes sense when they say we need specialists

For the other person that said that all women should stay in the kitchen need to learn that the reason many women got out was because they had to. Back in the day, before women could vote, they were viewed as possession to their husbands. Their husbands could beat them to death or throw them out on the streets and take the kid's from them. Nowadays, women who are smart enough to leave an abusive relationship have the means to do so if she wants. Why would you deprive somebody of that if?

Also, we need Planned Parenthood not only for our contraceptive needs but also to get tested for cervical cancers, breast cancers and for high blood pressure. There are many things that they provide for and it's not just for abortions. For the idiot that said that they don't want their tax dollars used for abortion, it isn't. It's usually used for formula, diapers, or whatever the mother needs to raise a healthy baby. Women who usually have an abortion, usually pay for that themselves.

Women are not the only ones that can use WIC and CHIP. If you are father who is raising your kid's, you also qualify for those programs. Women are not trying to "get" anything extra. There are many companies who don't pay for maternal care or preventive care to mother's to be so if a woman gets pregnant, they need the prenatal care so that the baby comes out healthy. Other health issues like Ovarian cancer is not detectable until it's too late and we need to have these early diagnostic tools.

For those of you who think that this forum is sexist for peoples health obviously failed to see that this meeting is called Health Care Stakeholder: Women. This is specifically to address women's health care because the main caregivers for the family, kid's, husbands, elder parent's, and veteran's are women and when they have this extra responsibility, it usually affects their paycheck as they are the ones who have to leave their jobs, go work part-time and not get paid benefits.

We've ignored women's health concerns for too long. Some heath care and health issues are particular to women, just as they are for different groups. The gov't is trying to get past the white male paradigm that has dominated how health and health care is regulated and legislated. Considering that American women outnumber men, serve as primary breadwinners of American families, and act as primary caretakers of their families, this panel is pertinent to the entire purpose of health care reform.

I can concur, mostly. But it's also a fact that all men are at risk for prostate cancer...granted, this depends on how long they live and other variables, it's still a fact. Perhaps the same can be said for women and breast-cancer or heart-disease, but I've yet to hear anything on that matter. I WOULD like improvement in health care for women, but maybe just a BIT more specific for men, as well. Of course we have more to worry about with our reproductive systems but there should still be a bal.

@greyblob since when did we ignore women's healht concerns for too long? In 1921, women only lived 1 year longer than men. Now women live 8 years longer than men. Since that time, more funding has been gone to women's health not men's. Men are just as likely to die from prostate cancer as women from breast cancer, but prostate cancer is underfuned. There is no "white male paradigm" in how health is legislated. Show me this proof. If this existed, men wouldn't be living 8 years less.

@lonewolf1369 Men are more likely to get prostate cancer if they live long enough. Women can cut off their breast, not sure if it's worth it for an 85yo man to chemo or cut off his prostate as treatment.

1 ex of the WM paradigm is heart attacks, hallmark symptoms (chest pain, shortness of breath) is disproportionately seen in men, making women underdiagnosed.

Did u know women posess more genetic material than men? We have a more complex hormonal system, and need specialized treatment.

@meb025 meb025, current statistics show that men get about equal rates of prostate cancer compared with women and breast cancer, EVEN when they live less. THE FACT THAT THEY LIVE SHORTER, means their health needs aren't being met you douchebag. That older men die younger than older women, is proof that men's health is underresearched. Men get diagnosed with prostate cancer as early as in their 50s, and sometimes even earlier.

Right now women have everything for breast cancer treatment, men have almost nothing, not even screening and detection. PSAs are unreliable, there is no imagery detection. Chopping off a prostate tumour in your 50s is much more risky than chopping off a breast tumour. You admit all of this, and still, you just want more and more and more.

Congress indirectly looked into mens health bc in the past most health studies and pharmaceuticals were only tested on men. So "health" implied "men's health, " and I'm leaving out racial bias.

I dont think this was done maliciously, but to call this a double standard is counterproductive to making things fair.

For the longest, women werent allowed to served in armed forces, we've just infiltrated the VA. and also women... in our grandparents generations have infiltrated universities, so that also used to be "men only."
