That was brilliant. I am just trying to learn to play the mandolin myself. I too have been a fan of Dave Swarbrick and have the LP Rags Reels and Airs as well as a number of Ian Campbell Folk Group albums. You match his playing, something I aspire to myself though I doubt I shall ever be that good.
iwish someone could post the original track the first track from rags reels and airs With Swarb double tracking with himself mandolin and fiddle , a great arrangement with loads of grace notes this is a classic ,must hear example of Swarb at his best
Wonderful Will!...I always enjoy your videos and this is no exception..you get the very best out of anything with strings...thanks again for sharing them with us....Gerry
thanks for posting
i had no idea what the second tune was until then
swarb plays a tune called skopje on the album but ive not been able to discover it elsewhere or find the music
do you know if it has another name?
a google search of skopje brings up a town in macedonia!
its a mystery

That's a great track. I ply a bit of fiddle, but not enough to do that! To post the original, of course, is illegal... :-)

Very nice Will. I like the tone of that mandolin too. What kind is that?

The mandolin was made by a friend of mine many years ago. He's lent it to me for a few weeks! It's electric = and great to play! :-)
