Actually, I think an ice rink would do this town some good. Give something for the kids to do, make revenue for the city, and give even people that don't like ice sports a cold place to hang when it's 5 billion degrees out. Too bad the geriatrics in power would never allow it. Too much excitement for their quaint lil retirement city. You'd get people protesting the traffic and the influx of "hoodlems" it'd generate. heh.

What is the race percentage in Redding these days? I know in the 2000 cencus it was about 82% White-- Is that still the case?
With any bigger city of course there are going to be trashy parts. I'm considering moving there so where are the nice areas and where are the ghettos?
I was so ready to get out of Redding after a lifetime of living here, and moved to OHIO. EE GADS!! I am an outdoors girl and Ohio was torture. Flat, views of cornfields, and snow from November-April. NO outdoor recreation ANYWHERE!! just a few polluted lakes and rivers, that I was warned against ever swimming in. I am now back in the N. State, and have two lakes to choose from, a major river, streams, creeks, etc...all clean and accesible.
When I lived in Redding, I watched this on the cable channel SOOOO many times that I didn't need to do any of those things. They play it over and over. LOL
im from el paso texas and recently went up to redding for the christmas holiday and ive got to say that redding is a pretty cool place to visit, there is plenty to do if your a tourist but according to my cuz its really boring there, and hot as hell and everything is really spread out.

Damn. You see, I'm planning on moving out there to go to Shasta CC. I've been out of a full time job for over a year here in Hawaii. I was going to start a computer business there, however, the tax rate is unbelievable in CA and I'd be charging an extra $50 on the products i'd like to sell to customers. Guess I'll just be doing college and working at bestbuy or something LOL

@bigjohnstud75 Simple answer... offenders are usually from Southern Cali... but once released they can not be released in the location where they committed the crime. So instead they are sent to defenseless Redding, CA up north.

I have lived in 6 different States, and in 4 different Major City's.
I have also traveled to 5 of the worlds 7 continents.
Redding is the best place that I've ever lived... hands down.
Here's my take on the 2 kinds of people that do not like Redding.
