It's wrong because the animal should be humanely put down first. I understand that animals need to eat, but thier prey shouldn't suffer. In the wild, we can't control what they do, but at least while they are in captivity we can help prevent such a traumatic death. If your snake was supposed ot be fed to an alligator, would you want him torn apart, or put to sleep first before? You have a emotional connection to your pet, who is to say that other animals don't deserve the same courtesy?

It's wrong because the animal should be humanely put down first. I understand that animals need to eat, but thier prey shouldn't suffer. In the wild, we can't control what they do, but at least while they are in captivity we can help prevent such a traumatic death. If your snake was supposed ot be fed to an alligator, would you want him torn apart, or put to sleep first before? You have a emotional connection to your pet, who is to say that other animals don't deserve the same courtesy?

Doesn't sound so great, does it? Rabbits are larger prey and fill faster, and therefore the snake doesn't have to eat quite as often if it ate little mice, which makes it overall cheaper. Rabbits breed very quickly and can destroy ecosystems if people just "loved them and let them live". It's people who like to let the "cute little animal" live that help ruin environments. Not just with rabbits, but any alien species.
