Chrome Browser is best Best browser of all times. OS is also great and it should be on every PC together with Windows, so if you just wont on Internet you dont need to wait 5 minutes till your PC boots up.

One one hand - good point, its just a linux distro, google apps oriented. It's a Lunix distro that just bundles together all the Google Apps.

On the other hand, take Ubuntu - get a Billionair behind a distro and you get the result. Combine Google's financial and promotional reach with (supposed) simplisity and usibility of all things Google PLUS the tech expertise and it might just become a #1 or #2 Linux distro, a Linux that non-techies are not scared of. Ubuntu done it, Google will refine it.

Advertising has nothing to do with the browser... They advertise on Google and Youtube because those are their sites.

Lastly, it's UNIX based so it is going to be open source...

No one will care. Windows has the mass market and Apple has the niche/artists. Linux and Chrome OS are just toys(to most people). If they really want it to succeed they need to attract developers FAST. Crummy open source ripoffs aren't going to get the job done.

Open source is better in ideology, I agree 100%, but in the actual use of applications, there is still a lot of "you get what you pay for" experience. Not to discredit the awesome success of Firefox and the Linux kernel and other awesome projects, but a lot of open source software needs TONS of work to truly compete with it's proprietary counterparts. GIMP to Photoshop, for example.
