Do you have half life 2, its episodes, portal, and TF2? (Essentially games it takes its models from you can get these all in one pack called the Orange Box). If you do have these games than perhaps your system requirements are not met i.e. graphics card, processor,etc.

Well I'm not sure if its your video card cuz I was able to play it when my pc didnt even have a video card yet. Does TF2 work? If it does then garry's mod should :I But if it doesn't I would suggest getting a Nvidia GeForce GTS 250. It's like 130$ but its so worth it you can play anything with it.
