I tend to agree. For years I assumed Dave Edmunds wrote the song. His version rips, and while I admire John Fogerty, Dave's delivery and production really add some polish. Too bad his version isn't here to compare.
Still a sexy guy at the ripe age of 56 in this video! He's been my no 1 favourite artist for the last 35 years, there's no one like him. I was fortunate enough to see him live in 1998 and that was one of the highlights in my life, a dream come true, I hope I'll get to see him once more before he retires!
I've heard this song before on the Premonition video -- there is something wrong with this video -- the sound comes out of one speaker, not both... and the sound does not line up with singing (I read lips)... I love the song,, but I honestly can't really enjoy this video with these flaws... sorry, John!
Been to a few concerts in my life, but to this day the best one was seeing Fogerty's Premonition tour at Montage Mountain in Scranton Pa-God bless John Fogerty.
Best? That's a tough one. "Fortunate Son" is I think without question the best anti-war protest song ever written. So there is "best" marks there. I know one thing, Almost Saturday Night is one of my favourite Fogerty songs, al things considered. Thanks for the post
I read an interview with John in which he said that he thought this was absolutely one of the best songs he'd ever written, and I have to agree - I think this song is just killer! Thanks for the post!
Fogerty has the rock star look in this one .. nailed, befitting of his status as rock icon. He's still a good looking dude in a unique way that transcends one's version of beauty .. but fits in perfectly with that excited kid, skipping stones on a warm summer day along a lazy river ...that his music conveys so genuinely .. so warmly ... I've been fortunate. I've met all my heros in my life. John's the last one . but I've been there at his concerts .. and THEY'RE FREAKEN INCREDIBLE !
Fun to watch that drummer. There's a bit towards the end where's he's kinda rocking from side to side or shaking his head, reminds me slightly of a young Ringo Starr. :p
I met John backstage at a Connecticut show in '97, thanked him for writing this song, my favorite, and asked could he add it to the setlist next time he came around. He said "Sure!" And he did. I'll take full credit(j/k). Thanks for posting this!
My left ear is jealous 'cause he can't hear this great music.

No one can touch John Fogerty. Period.

Luscious guitar tones -wow.

John's version of his own song is the weakest of all Ive heard. Check it out by The Searchers or Dave Edmunds.

this song sounds better than the record. Its the choir, definitively

The Waters form the choir - they are sisters and brothers - and yes, they are fantastic together with John's voice

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Though it is Fogerty's song, Gene Clark and Carla Olson do it a whole lot better. Maybe it's the girl guy thang(harmony).

With a name like "1fuckface2" I doubt that anything you do is better than John fogerty. You sound jealous.

One of the few times in his solo-works that he matches or excels his CCR-day songs.
