I'm doing dapol models as if they were in the 70's. The hornby/dapol ones are just like that simply because the dapol models are now marketed by hornby. And the arlesdale engines are not miniature. If there was an episode of QI based around the railway series, there's no doubt that would be said, and the person who said that would be wrong. the small railwya is 15 inches, so its narrow gauge. nobody says bure valley and fairbourne railways are miniature and yet there the same gauge.
miniature engines have to be 7.5 inches long at the most. In the still steaming books, ravenglass and eskdale railway is in "little puffers" (narrow gauge) rather than "timy trains" (miniature) You see I know about gauges and stuff and that skarloey is on a gauge of 2ft 3in, and rex is 15 inches, and Pete, the new engine, is 3 inches, making him almost a model engien! =) thats why the small engines are never referred to as miniature, only small!
No, all of the models you have used bar Oliver and Percy are Hornby. Not Dapol. GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT!
The Arlesdale is miniture, as it shares the same gauge as the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, which is the world's first public MINITURE RAILWAY. ANYTHING 15 InCHES BETWEEN THE RAILS OR LESS IS KNOWN AS MINITURE!
Sorry, I shouldn't have used the super detailed models for gordon and henry. They can be hornby rereleases instead.
But im still not sure about the miniature thing. I was always under the impression that the arlesdale railway was 'small gauge'. When was the RH&DR opened? the R&ER dates back to 1875.
Oh, Well the AMR is the first MINIATURE miniature railway them! =p BTW, the Arlesdale miniature railway (the new line) is 3 inches wide, making it five times smaller than the arlesdale railway. If I make episodes about it, Then Rex mike and bert and jock will find out that they are not the smallest engines on sodor by a looooooooooooooong way!
The arlesdale miniature (pete's line) railway I was talking about being 3 inches, not the small railway which was 3ft but now 15in. Pete is 3 inch gauge. 5 x 3 is 15. Its poitless us arguing anyway, because Technically they aren't ANY gauge because they aren't real! =p Besides, When I say 'miniature' I didn't mean miniature as in universal miniature, just miniature according to still steaming standards! Besides People should be discussing the video rather than gauges!
Ah, I have an idea about the dapol models; Its as if they were still being made! They'd gat more detailed over time, like the hornby models, or they could be model kits.
Good job on Take Along Rex,but just one thing:Where the windows are on Rex,It's supposed to be CURVED like James' cab.

WTF? Dapol don't do models of OO steam locomotives anymore.
And the Arlesdale Engines were Sodor's first Miniture locomotives.

The R&ER was originally 3 foot, but it was changed to a miniture line.
