@Alf90100 That what some thought about the British, what you got to remember a lot of people in the military own weapons as well, also there's a lot more civilians then there are soldiers. But I think were ok right now, we have enough people fighting for our rights to bare arms
He shouldn't even be on the board of the NRA with that out look. He spouts what you would expect Obama and his bunch to be saying just to get there foot a little further inside the door. If he wants five shells in his firearm then put in five shells. The 2nd amendment isn't about hunting, IT'S ABOUT PROTECTING OUR SELF FROM AN OVERBEARING GOVERNMENT.
Albert Ross. Are you ignorant. What the heck do you think a militia is? The militia is made of private citizens that volunteer in a time of crisis. In the American Revolution all the militia personnel owned their own firearms. I have every right to bear arms in my home, and on my person. Study a little Thomas Jefferson.
LOL...police protect me? Most times someone needs a cop, there isn't one around; cops ride around enforcing laws that are designed to add to local revenues from other wise law abiding citizens. There are plenty of stories when an armed citizen had to protect his/her family with a weapon of some kind. Had they waited for the police, the cops would be there just bag and tag them. Stevenkh, c'mon on man! You ain't foolin' nobody but yourself. The NRA is probably co-opted by implants.
It's just weird how the NRA is vilified by the far left and its media elitists. There are over 11,000+ NRA Law Enforcement Instructors found in every police academy in America who train your police officers to protect you. Many of your police officers are NRA Law Enforcement Instructors themselves. If you're anti-NRA, then don't own a gun or call 911.
Read your constitution properly, morons. Citizens have the right to carry a weapon as part of a "well-organised militia". You have no constitutional right to keep guns in your home, or to own or carry personal weapons, its a myth.
@AlbortRoss Fast Forward to 2008, "moron": The U.S. Supreme Court in D.C. vs Heller clarifed the meaning of "to keep and bear arms", that "the term was applied, then as now, to weapons that were not specifically designed for military use and were not eomployed in a military capacity", "that bear Arms' was not limited to the carrying of arms in a militia" and "Some have made the argument, bordering on the frivolous, that only those arms in existence in the 18th century are protected."
This video would have more impact if the person who did the text overlays could spell "semi-auto" and the uploader had not cited a non-existent anti-gun group. AFAIK,there has never been a "Handguns Limited, Inc." He's probably trying to refer to Handgun Control, Inc which, back in the late nineties, changed its name to the Brady Campaign to End Handgun Violence. It really helps believability if one knows what one's talking about on the verifiable matters.
The NRA is just another NWO Tool to diminish your rights. Don't send them any money. Why not just tell the Americans they can only have single shot pellet guns...cause that is what the NRA wants.
Bottom line our constitution clearly says my right to bear arms shall not be infringed !!!!! If you don't want to own a firearm then don't, but I would love to see you in an unfortunate situation wishing to god you had one. I will be ready for whatever comes my way with my firearms ready to rock and roll.
NRA? Bah humbug! Civilians have every right to be armed to the teeth! I believe most people are decent, albeit selfish, and can be trusted with weapons for their own protection... Against thieves, robbers and, ultimately, an out-of-control tyrannical government.
@ikiwago I believe in gun rights as much as the next guy, but you are one seriously deluded bastard if you believe that a few million americans with little to no formal military training, armed only with semi-automatics are going to stop the U.S. military should it be turned on the american people by malevolent, totalitarian leaders.
Our military technology is just fucking unbelievable, we'd be no match at all against our military.
@Alf90100 Absolutely, but don't forget that guerilla warfare is difficult to fight, even with technology, especially since there are so many more civilians than soldiers, even accounted for defections from both sides.
The U.S. has the highest firearm suicide rate (five times higher than the rate for high income countries and nearly seven times higher than the rate for upper-middle-income countries).
The U.S. overall firearm-related death rate is nearly 12 times higher;
The U.S. firearm homicide rate is nearly 16 times higher;
The U.S. firearm suicide rate is nearly 11 times higher;
The U.S. unintentional firearm death rate is 9 times higher
So I'm supposed to take the views of 1 NRA board member & trash the NRA for it? Even Moses believed at one time that people didn't really need modern sporting rifles. Hell for that matter until I understood what it all meant I myself didn't see a need for that type of rifle. Now I own several ( actually I lost all my guns in a tragic boat accident ) & realize the modern sporting rifle is used by millions of civilians for recreational shooting, competition, hunting, self defense, ect. Forget you!.
@FlatheadSteve too much call of duty friend a bullet ends lifes just like my fist my knife and my car try taking those away and uh if usa got invaded the invading army wuold get destroyed
@zvz2ezzvz Im talking in general.Civil unrest WROL situation, it's not the other countrys you will have to worry about. It will be the starving masses roming your town.Just saying that I would like to have more than a 5rnd magazine or alot of close buddies with guns. How does that play into a video game?
You may be proficient with a 5rnd rifle but thats not good when you are being sprayed by 1 30rnd mag, HELL might even be 5-10 people with 30rnd mags... So good luck luck with that LEE HARVEY
shouldnt we have access to the same weapons that the military have since they are the ones the government will be sicking on us so how are we gonna defend ourselves against tanks and helocopters wthout rocketlaunchers and nuclear weapons

"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing."
Why didn't you "constitution lovers" use that god damn 2nd ammendment to protect our 4th ammendment under Bush? Such hypocrisy makes me sick!
That only goes to show that if a government takeover really comes, you pussies won't do shit about it. You'll probably use then gun on yourself instead.
The patriot act is the biggest step to limit your rights that has ever been made. Yet I didn't hear a god damn conservative fucker speak up against it.
@TheSaltyAdmiral in all actuality it does suck but our rights were stricken away from us when the democrats instilled the fed into power to coin our money as well as take our gold away. that was the first tragedy. they have manipulated the markets ever since. soon as they took the gold away from us the dollar devalued by forty percent overnite. but as far as that goes why didnt you democrats stand up and say no to nafta? thats what killed our jobs here in america!
Someone answer me one question. Otherwise I am calling bullsh!t. What is that mans name. What show is this on? We can find out real fast if this is fake or real. AND i agree. One member may be a traitor but the rest are out there truely protecting our rights. FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT NRA!!!!
I sincerely believe citizens having assault weapons in a equal power to the military to protect our rights of all amendments. People don't understand that, tyrannical governments take away guns first then they got you with an iron fist, assault weapons are here to equalize the power. for citizens.
Doesn't matter what the government says, when I'm old enough, I will have my 24/7 loaded, possibly 30 round semi automatic assault rifle ready for my use of defense. The hell what the Feds say, I follow the amendments, not the false rules.
TYPICAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BULLY DOUCHEBAG....HE THINKS 'HE' SHOULD GET ASSAULT WEAPONS....BUT NOT 'YOU'....HE'S BEEN ACCEPTED INTO THE 'GOD CLASS'...YOUR JUST AN UNTRUSTWORTHY SLAVE!!!!
so if i use my longbow to combat an enemy, does that make it an assault bow? Or do I need to add hi tech grips, sights, lights/laser, and arrow auto loader? what about my slingshot?
WHEN THE CONSTITUTION WAS WRITTEN EVERY RIFLE WAS AN ASSAULT RIFLE. They were used in battle to fight the Kings soldiers and tyrannical government. The 2nd amendment has nothing to do with hunting. The second amendment exists so when the second revolution happens we won't have a shortage if firearms like before.
You misspelled 'semi', and to be fair, LaPierre really runs a tight ship, when the fudds start getting uppity, he puts them in their place. The NRA isn't perfect, but the GOA and other organizations who run counter to it don't do nearly half of what they do when stuff happens.
Oct. 2010 edition of the American Rifleman, see inside of the back cover a list of issues the NRA HAS won for American gun rights, especially the defeat of the Clinton Gun-Ban Extension. The NRA defeated that extension which restores our right to own many semi-automatic firearms. The NRA is the ONLY entity with growing power to restore the use of all semis, and our right to bear arms. If you refuse to support the NRA then Obama has won.
I blindly sent dues to the NRA for years until recently. They do some good but are way too willing to compromise in my opinion. There are better organizations out there to support
Get this shit outta my sight!!! I don't believe ANY weapons should be outlawed....gang bangers, illegals and general shitass criminals sure as hell don't worry about it.
WTF?? This guy is not the NRA. 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with the right to hunt? Whom ever is trying to label the NRA with this is just plain liar.
dont let this idiot repersent the NRA, this video was done during the mid 90's where the assault weapons were being banned and questioned. This guy here is an idiot...the NRA has done plenty and continues to do a lot for gun owners wheather you have a AK to a single shot rifle. This guy must be branned "Communist" not the nra
@sovietninja3 He is in favor of bigger federal involvement or bigger governent. More restrictions on rights. Which eventually leads to slavery. Every thing held in common under the watchful eye of the temporary dictator until THE PEOPLE take over. Only problem is that temporary thing hasn't quite worked out yet.
The NRA has been infiltrated! How did this imposter become an NRA head? The 2nd ammendment has never been about shooting sports or hunting you damn fools. It has always been about self preservation and the ability to stand against tyranny, foreign and domestic. Unbelievable. I had no idea until watching this that this guy was a fraud.
What you are hearing is a good ol' boy who has not thought this thing through. If he had he'd wake his crusty old self up and realize that the right to bear arms is not so we can put squirrel meat on the table, it is so we can take up arms against tyranny and injustice... meeting perverse force with moral force . The quotes of the gentlemen who gave form and substance to great truths and a constitution as a tool to help us protect those rights say it is our duty to bear arms.Hotdamn Boy wake up!
2nd amendment can be interpreted in many ways, the old way is that its a right of the ppl to keep and equip a militia, then later its been interpreted as an individual right. Both seems to have merit, but it not a law about hunting guns! Some will say its not about guns at all... the wikipedia page was very informative!
All of you commenting against the NRA obviously haven't been paying attention. The NRA has always been supportive of full capacity guns and magazines.
I believe we are being oppressed enough, and it is about time we stand up against our government. We cannot be like England!!! Theres a reason why we are Americans, we dont take bullshit from our government!!!
call me the stupid one, Im kinda lost right now after this backwards ass video, somebody help, I dont get it??? nra infringing on 2nd amendment??? I think I just got dumber...
Are you people that fucking stupid? First off he addressed this interview in other articles and explained what he was saying. Secondly he is ONE member on the board and does not necessarily represent the views and opinions of ALL board members. The NRA is the BIGGEST and one of the ONLY gun rights organizations that ACTIVELY participates and lobbies in Washington. Do some fucking research before you start making claims about something. Way to have a knee jerk reaction dipshits.

NRA sold out to the fascists. Very sad state of affairs. Cannot depend on organizations. Individuals must mosh up these treasonous traitors, these interlopers from babylon, determined to bring down this great Constitutional Republic. A coast-to-coast Republic of free-thinking people cannot be tolerated by controllers. We the People must stir it up. Life, liberty & pursuit of happiness is at stake. Babylon is serious about this. So are we. Get up stand up, stand up for your rights.
This man is a traitor. The right to bear arms shall not be infringed...What they shouldve put down was the right to bear arms shall not be infringed or supressed in any way shape or form.
He is a traitor to the constitution. Its all or nothing. Not oh well all you need is 5 rounds.Rifles that have a 5 round capacity are usually ancient military rifles or commercial hunting rifles not that you cant cause cause damage with both but thats beside the point. We are supposed to be armed with weapons equivalent to the military.
"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. "The thing that separates the American Christian from every other person on earth is the fact that he would rather die on his feet, than live on his knees!"
The right to live IS A MUCH MORE NATURAL RIGHT THAN THAT THE RIGHT OF KILLING SOMEONE IN SO CALLED "SELF DEFENSE"!!! If you want self defense, go learn a martial art.
So you would much rather believe that a criminal's life is more important than the victum's life. You can only kick so far. You can only punch so far. Do you seriously think that a criminal will be a man and put his gun down to fight hand to hand? Look this is real life. It's not a Chuck Norris movie. It's not scripted like a movie. You can't say cut when the bad guy shoots you with real bullets. Quit living in Hollywood films and start to live in reality for a change.
Actually you are the one living in the "sheepdog" fantasy world. A lot off martial arts actually impliment weapons fighting and even teaches people on how to disarm an attacker. Also they teach you how to talk your way out of a confrontation and situation awareness (i.e. avoding the dangerous situations all together)
I've never seen a war won in modren times using only martial arts. You still have to get close enough to effectivly use martial arts to disarm a person. Remember 9/11. Well kind of hard to avoid that dangerous situation if you are a passenger. Go play with your play swords while I train to shoot that sword out of your hands.
War and self defense are two completely different things. In war, you are faced with more heavier armorment. But even then, soldiers are trained with hand 2 hand combat. And? A lot of attacks are in close range anyways.
And what if the attacker is unarmed? How could you morally say using excessive force is justifiable against an un-armed attacker? Most of the time, when they are un-armed, they don't even want to kill you.
I'm not saying hand to hand combat doesn't have a role but it is stupid to think that hand to hand combat can solve ever situation. Steven Segal is a master of one form of Martial Arts. Now while you see Steven in Lawman episodes. Does he or does he not have a sidearm? Even Steven Segal will tell you that hand to hand combat cannot solve every situation. I would guarantee that Steven would laugh at your idea that hand to hand combat would be the end all in self defense.
As to an unarmed indivdual. It would depend of what he or she was doing. Breaking inside of your home is a felony. I don't care what they intend to do. They are unlawfully inside my home. My life feels endangered just by their presents in my home unlawfully. According to state law in Oklahoma. I have the right to use deadly force whether they are armed or unarmed. Stand your Ground is the law I'm referring to. Look at the castle doctrine. This is where this law came out of.
Who did you think the 2nd amendment was referring to you moron. The militia consisted of every able bodied male. It meant everyone. A free law abiding person should never be barred the use of arms.
@rdbiii - "The militia consisted of every able bodied male. It meant everyone."
Women? Children? The elderly? The disabled? Blacks? "Everyone"?
"The people" is a collective body, as in "The people vs. Joe Bloggs." Just as individuals belonging to that body may have been called to serve on a jury, so individuals may have been called to serve in the militia, IF qualified.
(When they said "able to bear arms," they didn't mean able to carry a gun.)
If bearing arms doesn't mean carrying arms than why have the word. Why wouldn't it say the right to keep arms should not be infringed. KEEP AND BEAR are two different things. Bear is not referring to that fuzzy animal we all see in the zoo. It also has a different meaning than keep. Look up the word keep and look up the word bear. Their definitions are different.
@saved03 - "If bearing arms doesn't mean carrying arms then why have the word?"
--------------------
Don't look at the word "bear" in isolation. It's "bear Arms", which means to serve as a soldier. In the original draft it said that those who were scrupulous of "bearing arms" would not be compelled to render "MILITARY SERVICE" in person. Also, the fact that it said "in person" there shows that the actual right of "the people" WASN'T a personal right.
It's interpretations like this that started gun control in the first place. The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with the State's rights. The 2nd Amendment is clearly an indivigual's right to keep and bear arms and shall not be infringed. Go to the 10th Amendment to find out what the rights of the States are.
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
"The people" delegated powers to the US in their COLLECTIVE capacity and THAT is how they're reserved. Why would the same term mean something different elswhere in the SAME document? It DOESN'T.
Is the 1st Amendment an individual's right or the collective's right? The first thing you need to know in how to properly interpreate the Bill of Rights is that the first 9 Amendments are individual rights and not the State's rights. It is only the 10th that deal with the State's rights. Learn your history about the Constitution. The people have the right to keep and bear arms. Shall not be infringed. Which means the government, the States cannot restrict and regulate arms period.
@saved03 - "Is the 1st Amendment an individual's right or the collective's right?"
Which part? A prisoner, who no longer belongs to "the people" class, has the fundamental right to freedom of religious belief, but he doesn't have the right to assemble to petition the Government (See "the people). He also has fifth and sixth Amendment protections, but not fourth Amendment. When it says "the people," they were NOT protecting fundamental personal rights.
The people is not the state. The people is always and I mean always referring to the indivdual. Where in the hell do you come up with that it's a collective? Where did you learn your Constitutional history? The first 9 Amendments are personal individual rights. If you want to continue on that they are collective. You have not one clue of what the Bill of Rights are. Read the Preamble of the Bill of Rights and you will see that these are rights given by the Creator not by the state.
@saved03 - "Read the Preamble of the Bill of Rights and you will see that these are rights given by the Creator."
"The Conventions of a number of the States having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best insure the beneficent ends of its institution."
@saved03 - "The first 9 Amendments are personal individual rights."
You're repeating the SAME thing when I've already proved it wrong.
A prisoner, who no longer belongs to "the people" class, has the fundamental right to freedom of religious belief, but he doesn't have the right to assemble to petition the Government (See "the people). He also has fifth and sixth Amendment protections, but not fourth Amendment (Again, see "the people.")
Okay you want to talk about prisoner. They are no longer the people status because of what they did to become a prisoner. They have lost their right to own a firearm. They have lost their right to vote. Before commiting their crime. They had all of those rights. Listen the prisoner is a very poor example to prove this "the people" is a collective and not an individual. Give it a rest already freatork1. The first 9 Amendments are individual rights. Again did you read the Preamble to the B.o.R.?
Can you explain how an individual who has broken the law loses ONLY the rights that contain "the people?" He no longer belongs to that collective body.
As an individual, he keeps some of the 1st (not assemble/petition), 5th and 6th, but NOT the 4th. Coincidence? No.
You're missing the point about criminals. Being a criminal is by choice. Before becoming a criminal. He or she had the same level of rights as everyone else does. Here we go again. The first 9 Amendments are INDIVIDUAL rights. The people is not a collective body. The people always has and always should be referring to INDIVIDUAL. You seriously need to read on what the founding fathers meant when they drafted the Bill of Rights. The Supreme Court did and that is why DC's ban was uncontitutional.
So voting is not a personal right? Is so that is a slap in the face to the Constitution. Look this is grown old and it's clear you don't see the Bill of Rights as it was intended to be. Out of all the Amendments. How many of them say "Shall not be infrindge"? Even the first one doesn't have that. Our founding fathers knew that once the right to keep and bear arms goes. So does ever other right go along with it. The pen is mightier than the sword. Without the sword the pen has no freedom.
@saved03 - "Out of all the Amendments, how many of them say "Shall not be infrindge"?..."
What does THAT tell us about the NATURE of the right? What makes you think that, because it can't be "infringed" by the Federal Government, it must be personal?
If not personal than why have "Shall not be infringed"? The reason criminals cannot go to the local gun store to buy a gun. Is because criminals affect a free state. If you don't believe that they don't. Just look south of the border. Look back in the day of Prohibition. With the drug cartels in Mexico. They are running the show and not the people. Banning firearms and restricting them is not the answer to a free state. A free state is a well armed state of people. Not the government.
Also one more thing. Back in 1997 North Hollywood. Two crazy wacked out guys were able to hold off 300 police officers for 44 minutes in a shoot out. There was a point to where the police went to the people to get more powerful arms. They also used a privately own armored car to move out the wounded. Let's say there was no gun stores around. The police would not have had that option to go and get better arms to defend themselves and the public.
the second amendment was not giving to us; it was put into place to stop government oppression idiot, we don't have a 2nd AMD right; our natural rights to self dense are enforced by the 2nd AMD...
what idiots......the 2nd amenment is not about hunting and not even all about personal protection..it's also about being able to stand against an oppressive government......I am a life member of the NRA but have no plans on giving them another dime. Compromise is nothing but a slow method of watching our rights being watered down. Gun Owners of America are a better organization because compromise is not in their mindset!
The last time I gave the NRA money was prior to the Roberti-Roos ban in California. I refuse to give them another dime, until that ban is repealed.
If you think about it, the NRA makes more money when the gun control debate is a "hot issue". In that sense, the NRA thrives when gun control is successful, so I think it's an economic decision for them.
@korearichie If you don't live here than you don't have a fucking clue as to what goes on here! Don't believe the bullshit you here on....let me guess...CNN!! There is violent crime here just like ANY other place in the world.Having 200 million+ legally owned firearms, compare that to the murder rate per capita and you will see it is actually low compared to other countries. If you only trust you're government with firearms then you are an IDIOT!And check your spelling before calling us dumb!
@korearichie You are either a foreigner or you are on CRACK! Most Americans do NOT consider all muslims terrorists. FACT! And Europeans are the most fucked up society in the developed world. Fact. We broke away from that shit two hundred and some years ago and now everyone is reverting back. That's why America is going to shit! Americans...Greedy? Actually we are the most generous. That's the Christian way and that has been our weekness. You foreign bastards don't mind holding your hand out!!
sure have the right to own a gun... but why would it need to have a 30 round clip, 50, 100, why does it need a fire rate of 300,500, 1000 rounds a minute.
Ha, you obviously know nothing about the U.S. This is the common tree hugging liberal view on gun control. More guns = more crime. It couldn't be further from the truth! The way our constitution was written and the way our society is based, gun laws would ONLY TAKE GUNS FROM LAW ABIDING CITIZENS not criminals. Just because you pussy ass brits give up your rights doesn't mean we should. God save the queen! Yea, whatever. Who has a fuckin queen anymore...
Who are you to talk? In the UK people get stabbed over "football" games! And you guys drive on the wrong damn side of the road! And guess what, we kicked your ass and can do it again. And by your name I assume you have ties to Korea? Don't even get me started on that country!
whoever posted this is wrong on many levels. I side in opposition to the NRA, but even I know what their position is and even I know they don't side this way.
I don't know where this video came from but it certainly looks like pure propaganda to me! I have checked the NRA web site and I can't find anything on an agreement to ban assault weapons! More fact checking is needed please! Post more evidence if you have it! I can;t believe that by dropping membership to the NRA will help the mission to retain our second amendment rights! I digress to follow your course of action!
Whoever made this video is a fucking IDIOT!!! What do the initials NRA in this video stand for? Certainly not National Rifle Association!! I have belonged to the NRA for 22 years and they do not represent ANY restrictions on ANY type of firearms PERIOD!! I guess people like posting bullshit like to get attention. Thats how Obama got in the white house...from morons in la la land!!
I'm ready and willing to die to protect my hard-earned rights, just as my forefathers did. The right to keep and bear arm will NOT be infringed on my clock!
Our second amendment right was given to us when civilian firearms were knowingly just as superior as the militarys firearms at that time. And now, at a time when police and military clearly possess guns which are far more advanced , they want to further infringe this crucial right. A Direct Violation!
He needs to tell that to a law abiding citizen trying to defend themselves against a criminal when that criminal is armed with an illegally owned handgun with two 15 round magazines. I'm sorry to say that 5 rounds is probably not going to get the job done to stop that armed attacker who is shooting back. You don't need to actually be in a fire fight to understand that.
The NRA is the second largest pro-gun control org in the USA. They are a trojan horse. Many times they have suckered gun owners and pushed or created anti-freedom legislation.
Founders never thought we'd have assault weapons? So they never thought we'd have improvements in technology? How about banning typrewrites and computers? The Founders never meant your freedom of speech included the internet!!!
HAHAHAHA! you do not need an AK-47! with the amount of fire arms in this country there are plenty of guns that can fill the 'liberty-driven protection' as dictated by the second amendment. How about the unregistered gun dealers that sell fire arms to felons? Last I knew, a felon cannot own a gun. Or is that infringement of the second amendment?
Well shit. Looks like I'm going to have to make a few calls tomorrow morning. I remember seeing this a while ago, and it kept me from joining, and a friend of mine said it's safe to join now since he's out, but as far as I can tell, he's still in.
damn!!!!! assault weapons are fun to shoot and not just cus you own on mean your going to go on rampage. the guns don't kill people people kill people
This guy believes the Constitution is America's Bible. He will defend the 2nd Amendment to his death, because it's a Constitutional right legislated by our forefathers over 250 yeas ago. I wonder if he is defending the Constitutional rights of gays and lesbians who want to exercise their Constitutional right to legally marry?
The last time I read the Constitution it protects because of race, creed, or color NOT sexual orientation and that's why there is no federal law and never will be protecting homos. Even the Supreme Court refuses to hear a case about fags in the military. Go suck a cock and close your eyes and stay in your fantasy world.
I don't believe you ever read the Constitution. Most American wouldn't even know how to find a copy let alone read it. The Constitution does protects the rights of ALL citizens whether they are hetersexual, bisexual or homosexual. The Constitution does not name people with blue eyes, but they too are protected. And, why would anyone want to deny 12-15 % of the population their Constitutional rights, unless you are homophobic & feel threatened by people who make different choices than you?
The constitution does not address marriage, at all. While I'm not one to give any religious reasons for marriage being between a man and woman, since that's the Constitutional and Christian thing to do, I also can't find anywhere where it's protected.
As I was trying to tell another friend of mine earlier who carries that flag, while it is a noble cause, it doesn't make it any more credible to insinuate that it's somehow the same as a Nazi concentration camp, or the Revolutionary War.
The constitution does address basic human rights of all citizens. Are gays not human or are they not citizens? All American are granted the rights of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, and EQUAL treatment under the laws of our country.
Yes, it addresses basic human rights, and I never said gays weren't human or citizens, you're the one pulling that out. The constitution does not address ANY marriage laws, gay or straight. So don't use that as the reason you should have it, because it's just not true.
And it's also a terrible reason to trust liberals who want to use your vote to ban other things which ARE constitutionally protected.
The constitution does not address a lot of things, but we still find a way to be fair and provide equal treatment to citizens. Find a fifth grader to read and interpret the constitution for you and gain some clarity.
You ought to sit down with a fifth grader and see if they can find where it says anything about marriage at all.
If you'll look at the tenth amendment, you'll see my opinion on it, that the constitution not mentioning marriage makes it something that the government should not have the power to regulate. It's a state's rights issue, but should the states not regulate it, then there is no regulation on marriage, whatsoever. It's that pesky interstate commerce law that screws it all up, though.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
There is nothing in the constitution about assault weapons, nuclear weapons, cocaine, heroine, pot or crack. That does not mean the government does not regulate those things. Or are you suggesting that everything not mention in the constitution remain unregulated. The constitution is over 200 years old and is silent on most of today's domestic and foreign affairs. It has served us well in the past, but is no better than toilet paper now.
I never said it should be unregulated. So called "assault weapons", ie; firearms that have certain cosmetic features, shouldn't be banned. I really doubt that any criminals are going to be able to either obtain, or use any kind of nuclear weapon, and frankly that's irrelevant. There are countries that can't even obtain nukes, let alone individuals. And I also don't think the government should regulate drugs nearly as closely as it does. It's our body, let us do to it what we want.
Now, I think you're missing my point, here. I don't think that there should be no marriage at all. I think that it's not the place of the government to decide who can and cannot be married. There is nothing in the constitution, nor anywhere that they haven't recently written, that allows them that power. The more power the government gives themselves, the less rights individuals have, gay, straight, black, white, brown, or purple. That's always been the case, and that's what's happening.
Agreed. The regulation of mutually agreed upon private behavior is no business of the government, especially the Federal government. The question of gay marriage at the Federal level shouldn't even be a question; it's irrelevant.
in the 1800's the army and people of the us had the same weapons, there is no reason it shouldn't be that way today, if we have to fight the government doesn't seem fair that they out gun us.
@Alf90100 That what some thought about the British, what you got to remember a lot of people in the military own weapons as well, also there's a lot more civilians then there are soldiers. But I think were ok right now, we have enough people fighting for our rights to bare arms

AlbortRoss 2 months ago

Quit living in Hollywood films and start to live in reality for a change.
saved03 1 year ago
Actually you are the one living in the "sheepdog" fantasy world. A lot off martial arts actually impliment weapons fighting and even teaches people on how to disarm an attacker. Also they teach you how to talk your way out of a confrontation and situation awareness (i.e. avoding the dangerous situations all together)
TheGunsDoKillPeople 1 year ago
I've never seen a war won in modren times using only martial arts. You still have to get close enough to effectivly use martial arts to disarm a person. Remember 9/11. Well kind of hard to avoid that dangerous situation if you are a passenger. Go play with your play swords while I train to shoot that sword out of your hands.
saved03 1 year ago
War and self defense are two completely different things. In war, you are faced with more heavier armorment. But even then, soldiers are trained with hand 2 hand combat. And? A lot of attacks are in close range anyways.
And what if the attacker is unarmed? How could you morally say using excessive force is justifiable against an un-armed attacker? Most of the time, when they are un-armed, they don't even want to kill you.
TheGunsDoKillPeople 1 year ago

A free law abiding person should never be barred the use of arms.
rdbiii 1 year ago
@rdbiii - "The militia consisted of every able bodied male. It meant everyone."
Women? Children? The elderly? The disabled? Blacks? "Everyone"?
"The people" is a collective body, as in "The people vs. Joe Bloggs." Just as individuals belonging to that body may have been called to serve on a jury, so individuals may have been called to serve in the militia, IF qualified.
(When they said "able to bear arms," they didn't mean able to carry a gun.)
freatork1 1 year ago
If bearing arms doesn't mean carrying arms than why have the word. Why wouldn't it say the right to keep arms should not be infringed. KEEP AND BEAR are two different things. Bear is not referring to that fuzzy animal we all see in the zoo. It also has a different meaning than keep. Look up the word keep and look up the word bear. Their definitions are different.
saved03 1 year ago
@saved03 - "If bearing arms doesn't mean carrying arms then why have the word?"
--------------------
Don't look at the word "bear" in isolation. It's "bear Arms", which means to serve as a soldier. In the original draft it said that those who were scrupulous of "bearing arms" would not be compelled to render "MILITARY SERVICE" in person. Also, the fact that it said "in person" there shows that the actual right of "the people" WASN'T a personal right.
freatork1 1 year ago
It's interpretations like this that started gun control in the first place. The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with the State's rights. The 2nd Amendment is clearly an indivigual's right to keep and bear arms and shall not be infringed. Go to the 10th Amendment to find out what the rights of the States are.
saved03 1 year ago
@ saved03
10th Amendment:
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
"The people" delegated powers to the US in their COLLECTIVE capacity and THAT is how they're reserved. Why would the same term mean something different elswhere in the SAME document? It DOESN'T.
freatork1 1 year ago
Is the 1st Amendment an individual's right or the collective's right? The first thing you need to know in how to properly interpreate the Bill of Rights is that the first 9 Amendments are individual rights and not the State's rights. It is only the 10th that deal with the State's rights. Learn your history about the Constitution. The people have the right to keep and bear arms. Shall not be infringed. Which means the government, the States cannot restrict and regulate arms period.
saved03 1 year ago
@saved03 - "Is the 1st Amendment an individual's right or the collective's right?"
Which part? A prisoner, who no longer belongs to "the people" class, has the fundamental right to freedom of religious belief, but he doesn't have the right to assemble to petition the Government (See "the people). He also has fifth and sixth Amendment protections, but not fourth Amendment. When it says "the people," they were NOT protecting fundamental personal rights.
freatork1 1 year ago
The people is not the state. The people is always and I mean always referring to the indivdual. Where in the hell do you come up with that it's a collective? Where did you learn your Constitutional history? The first 9 Amendments are personal individual rights. If you want to continue on that they are collective. You have not one clue of what the Bill of Rights are. Read the Preamble of the Bill of Rights and you will see that these are rights given by the Creator not by the state.
saved03 1 year ago
@saved03 - "Read the Preamble of the Bill of Rights and you will see that these are rights given by the Creator."
"The Conventions of a number of the States having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best insure the beneficent ends of its institution."
Where?
freatork1 1 year ago
@saved03 - "The first 9 Amendments are personal individual rights."
You're repeating the SAME thing when I've already proved it wrong.
A prisoner, who no longer belongs to "the people" class, has the fundamental right to freedom of religious belief, but he doesn't have the right to assemble to petition the Government (See "the people). He also has fifth and sixth Amendment protections, but not fourth Amendment (Again, see "the people.")
freatork1 1 year ago
Okay you want to talk about prisoner. They are no longer the people status because of what they did to become a prisoner. They have lost their right to own a firearm. They have lost their right to vote. Before commiting their crime. They had all of those rights. Listen the prisoner is a very poor example to prove this "the people" is a collective and not an individual. Give it a rest already freatork1. The first 9 Amendments are individual rights. Again did you read the Preamble to the B.o.R.?
saved03 1 year ago
@saved03
Can you explain how an individual who has broken the law loses ONLY the rights that contain "the people?" He no longer belongs to that collective body.
As an individual, he keeps some of the 1st (not assemble/petition), 5th and 6th, but NOT the 4th. Coincidence? No.
freatork1 1 year ago
You're missing the point about criminals. Being a criminal is by choice. Before becoming a criminal. He or she had the same level of rights as everyone else does. Here we go again. The first 9 Amendments are INDIVIDUAL rights. The people is not a collective body. The people always has and always should be referring to INDIVIDUAL. You seriously need to read on what the founding fathers meant when they drafted the Bill of Rights. The Supreme Court did and that is why DC's ban was uncontitutional.
saved03 1 year ago
@saved03 - "Before becoming a criminal, he or she had the same level of rights as everyone else does."
They CANNOT lose PERSONAL rights when they become criminals. They DO lose all the rights that refer to "the people."
freatork1 1 year ago
So voting is not a personal right? Is so that is a slap in the face to the Constitution. Look this is grown old and it's clear you don't see the Bill of Rights as it was intended to be. Out of all the Amendments. How many of them say "Shall not be infrindge"? Even the first one doesn't have that. Our founding fathers knew that once the right to keep and bear arms goes. So does ever other right go along with it. The pen is mightier than the sword. Without the sword the pen has no freedom.
saved03 1 year ago
@saved03 - "So voting is not a personal right?"
No. Prisoners don't get to vote, but "the people" still elect:
"The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people thereof..."
freatork1 1 year ago
@saved03 - "Out of all the Amendments, how many of them say "Shall not be infrindge"?..."
What does THAT tell us about the NATURE of the right? What makes you think that, because it can't be "infringed" by the Federal Government, it must be personal?
freatork1 1 year ago
If not personal than why have "Shall not be infringed"? The reason criminals cannot go to the local gun store to buy a gun. Is because criminals affect a free state. If you don't believe that they don't. Just look south of the border. Look back in the day of Prohibition. With the drug cartels in Mexico. They are running the show and not the people. Banning firearms and restricting them is not the answer to a free state. A free state is a well armed state of people. Not the government.
saved03 1 year ago
Also one more thing. Back in 1997 North Hollywood. Two crazy wacked out guys were able to hold off 300 police officers for 44 minutes in a shoot out. There was a point to where the police went to the people to get more powerful arms. They also used a privately own armored car to move out the wounded. Let's say there was no gun stores around. The police would not have had that option to go and get better arms to defend themselves and the public.

what idiots......the 2nd amenment is not about hunting and not even all about personal protection..it's also about being able to stand against an oppressive government......I am a life member of the NRA but have no plans on giving them another dime. Compromise is nothing but a slow method of watching our rights being watered down. Gun Owners of America are a better organization because compromise is not in their mindset!
sagebrushwy 2 years ago 5
The last time I gave the NRA money was prior to the Roberti-Roos ban in California. I refuse to give them another dime, until that ban is repealed.
If you think about it, the NRA makes more money when the gun control debate is a "hot issue". In that sense, the NRA thrives when gun control is successful, so I think it's an economic decision for them.

Our second amendment right was given to us when civilian firearms were knowingly just as superior as the militarys firearms at that time. And now, at a time when police and military clearly possess guns which are far more advanced , they want to further infringe this crucial right. A Direct Violation!
sjr341 2 years ago 3

This guy believes the Constitution is America's Bible. He will defend the 2nd Amendment to his death, because it's a Constitutional right legislated by our forefathers over 250 yeas ago. I wonder if he is defending the Constitutional rights of gays and lesbians who want to exercise their Constitutional right to legally marry?
olejazzman 2 years ago
The last time I read the Constitution it protects because of race, creed, or color NOT sexual orientation and that's why there is no federal law and never will be protecting homos. Even the Supreme Court refuses to hear a case about fags in the military. Go suck a cock and close your eyes and stay in your fantasy world.
looperdude2009 2 years ago
I don't believe you ever read the Constitution. Most American wouldn't even know how to find a copy let alone read it. The Constitution does protects the rights of ALL citizens whether they are hetersexual, bisexual or homosexual. The Constitution does not name people with blue eyes, but they too are protected. And, why would anyone want to deny 12-15 % of the population their Constitutional rights, unless you are homophobic & feel threatened by people who make different choices than you?
olejazzman 2 years ago
The constitution does not address marriage, at all. While I'm not one to give any religious reasons for marriage being between a man and woman, since that's the Constitutional and Christian thing to do, I also can't find anywhere where it's protected.
As I was trying to tell another friend of mine earlier who carries that flag, while it is a noble cause, it doesn't make it any more credible to insinuate that it's somehow the same as a Nazi concentration camp, or the Revolutionary War.
AreThereNoMoreNames 2 years ago
The constitution does address basic human rights of all citizens. Are gays not human or are they not citizens? All American are granted the rights of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, and EQUAL treatment under the laws of our country.
olejazzman 2 years ago
Yes, it addresses basic human rights, and I never said gays weren't human or citizens, you're the one pulling that out. The constitution does not address ANY marriage laws, gay or straight. So don't use that as the reason you should have it, because it's just not true.
And it's also a terrible reason to trust liberals who want to use your vote to ban other things which ARE constitutionally protected.
AreThereNoMoreNames 2 years ago
The constitution does not address a lot of things, but we still find a way to be fair and provide equal treatment to citizens. Find a fifth grader to read and interpret the constitution for you and gain some clarity.
olejazzman 2 years ago
You ought to sit down with a fifth grader and see if they can find where it says anything about marriage at all.
If you'll look at the tenth amendment, you'll see my opinion on it, that the constitution not mentioning marriage makes it something that the government should not have the power to regulate. It's a state's rights issue, but should the states not regulate it, then there is no regulation on marriage, whatsoever. It's that pesky interstate commerce law that screws it all up, though.
AreThereNoMoreNames 2 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
There is nothing in the constitution about assault weapons, nuclear weapons, cocaine, heroine, pot or crack. That does not mean the government does not regulate those things. Or are you suggesting that everything not mention in the constitution remain unregulated. The constitution is over 200 years old and is silent on most of today's domestic and foreign affairs. It has served us well in the past, but is no better than toilet paper now.
olejazzman 2 years ago
I never said it should be unregulated. So called "assault weapons", ie; firearms that have certain cosmetic features, shouldn't be banned. I really doubt that any criminals are going to be able to either obtain, or use any kind of nuclear weapon, and frankly that's irrelevant. There are countries that can't even obtain nukes, let alone individuals. And I also don't think the government should regulate drugs nearly as closely as it does. It's our body, let us do to it what we want.
AreThereNoMoreNames 2 years ago
Now, I think you're missing my point, here. I don't think that there should be no marriage at all. I think that it's not the place of the government to decide who can and cannot be married. There is nothing in the constitution, nor anywhere that they haven't recently written, that allows them that power. The more power the government gives themselves, the less rights individuals have, gay, straight, black, white, brown, or purple. That's always been the case, and that's what's happening.
AreThereNoMoreNames 2 years ago 2
Agreed. The regulation of mutually agreed upon private behavior is no business of the government, especially the Federal government. The question of gay marriage at the Federal level shouldn't even be a question; it's irrelevant.
apt3444 2 years ago
Your comments show you have never read the constitution. Find a copy and have a fifth grader read and interpret it for you.

in the 1800's the army and people of the us had the same weapons, there is no reason it shouldn't be that way today, if we have to fight the government doesn't seem fair that they out gun us.
