I was there from 1978 to 1979. It was my first duty station and it was an incredible experience. Thaks so much for the reminder. Met my first husband there, Harry Harriman. Toni Curry now Jabson.
I lived there in the late 60s and early 70s when it was Royal Naval - RNAS Goldcrest. Brought back some memories there. Training Hunters with day-glo panels are still very, very clear - as well as the drive down Newgale hill and past the beach. Anyone remember the shop Llewenyn's?
Thank you for sharing, I was stationed there as well, 91-94 I was in the Seabee shop. We were a small group of Engineman. I sure miss it, was a blast, and the coiuntryside was
Wow, does that video take me back. I was stationed at Brawdy twice - from 1978-1979 and again from 1983-1985. The video of the road through Newgale was really something. I remember driving through there in the "summer" with the heat on in the car and there were people swimming in the freezing water! thanks for the great memories!
Thank you all for the appreciative comments. I really enjoyed living in Pembrokeshire as well, first in HWest, then in Broadhaven. I'm glad I was able to get back there to shoot this video. We had returned in 1997, just after RAF Brawdy had closed and I was able to take an "introductory" flying lesson in a little Cessna right over the base. The whole area is still as picturesque as ever.
The first time I was there was in 1973 while it was still under construction and the TE building was sitting in a sea of mud. I was assigned there again from 1976 to 1980 as one of the WECo engineers. I loved the places I lived in Pemborkshire - St Davids, Broadhaven, Solva and finally Treffgarne. The only bummer was I met my first wife while she was working at the petrol station at Newgale beach :(.
"Thank You" sooo much, for sharing this. I was stationed at NAVFAC Brawdy from 1977 until 1980. Brawdy was my 1st duty station as a "Scream'in Seaman". HA! I was honored & privileged to share my beloved first duty station with so many remarkable Friends & Shipmates. I adored Wales, UK. :-)
I was there from 1985-87. OTM2 Schmidt. I really enjoyed it and loved the commute in every day from town. Used to play darts at The Duke in Newgale. Wonderful times.
Wow, that's a blast from the past! I was there as an OTA2 from 87 to 90 then came back as a civilian to work in the Brawdy Acoustic Lab for a couple more years. Thanks for posting that, it brought me back almost two decades. Gotta get back there and visit, now I'm feeling a bit homesick for Wales after all this time :)
Glad you enjoyed it. You should go back. If you liked Pembrokeshire then, you'll like it now. It hasn't changed much, except for a McDonalds in H'West and a new Tesco. We used to send someone on the mid watch to Carmarthen to get burgers.
I was the LPO of the Communications Division -- behind one of the other cipher locked doors. I worked watches for a while, but was a day worker most of the time.

Thanks for the tour! I was stationed there twice, 1987-90 and 1992-94. I had a great time over there and often think back to the great times there.

I was based at Brawdy from 2003-2006, I always wondered what the story was behind those buildings.
