Middle School Teaching Advice : General Tips for Teachers on the First Day of School

Can the teachers please stop with the cheesy ice breakers? No one remembers each other's names anyway because they are all so damn nervous. I'm in college and every professor I've had still does the same "ice breaker" thing we did in 1st grade. If you insist on doing it, at least make it fun and original. Not "say your first and last name and 3 fun things about yourself :D"

This applies for all grades as well, I had a 11-12th grade math teacher and I found it very hard to learn anything from her because she was very intimidating. What was funny is that students would dare other students to ask questions for them just so they wouldn't have her raise her voice at them. This guy definitely point out some good stuff for all teachers. I understand a teacher can't be taken advantage of by students but you can still be cool with the students and get the job done
