  • wow this is gorgeous!!!!

  • She puts such a different style to it!! It just sounds just as awesome as Shoshana. Scott Alan is brilliant!

  • she sings it much better than shoshana

  • She sings so purely and honestly, everything has a purpose, I could listen to her sing everyday.

  • Gets me every time.

  • The 4 people that dislike this video need sorting out!!!

  • How is it even humanly possible to dislike Nikki Renee Daniel's voice? She is flawless. I love Shoshana. I love her version of this song, but that doesn't make Nikki's version any less lovely. It's different, not less passionate. Their voices are completely different. I hate when people compare two amazing, accomplished singers like that.

  • the 'feel' at 3:09 is one of the most stunning notes ive ever heard :L

she has a beautiful voice. <3

  • i love her! :)

  • despite the lack of personal connection in comparison to shoshana, i like her riffs better.

  • Arguing over whether or not she is belting on a youtube video does not prove how good of a musician you are. Just saying. She sounds wonderful, so if it is a belt, then it is. If not, she is doing something that sounds very similar and she still sounds awesome doing it. Get over yourselves and just enjoy the fact that this girl can sing!

  • Leaves me breathless.....god....it hurts! AMAZING!!!

  • Although both ladies sing it beautifully, Danny Calvert sings this song the best, either way it is such a beautiful song that needs all the praise it deserves, I can imagine someone like Celine Dion singing this giving it great exposure

  • Lol, Michelle Obama WISHES she were this pretty....but yes, I see what you are talking about. She is a pretty version of Michelle.

  • I agree with versacewannabe! shes good but this doesnt even touch on Shoshana Beans performance!

  • Very different from Shoshana Bean. While I don't think that they should be compared, because everyone has different styles, I do happen to prefer Sho. However, for this rendition, she sings it the best.

  • Really 'princeblondie'? Really? Great criticism. Why don't you put your money where your mouth is? I mean you say singing is one of your hobbies, so, let's see something you've done. C'mon blondie, show us how this song should really be sung. ;-)

  • That's my girl!!! Canadians for life! YAY!!!

  • different rendition. not bad.

  • Is it just me, or does she look like Michelle Obama?

  • @Muppy35 she looks nothing like her! not all black folks look alike.

  • really really beautiful!!

  • And by Sho, of course I mean Shoshana Bean. ;)

  • Yeah she's good...but NOTHING and NO ONE beats My Sho. She's just ...MMMM!!

  • What a moving performance. The high note on 3:09 is simply sublime.

  • she is SO different from shoshana. and her interpretation of the music is very different. BEAUTIFUL work here. bravo, nikki!

  • beautiful voice, very nice rendition of it and totally feeling every word she is singing

  • Fantastic rendition....but this is sho's song. She kills it. besides I feel that this girl misses the tenderness that the song is supposed to give off and instead just belts the crap out of it.

  • @LesMisCrazy Belting? If she was belting, she would not constantly try to hold one steady note. Go listen to Nikki talk. Now, imagine that, but, loud as hell. As if she scolding you for something, but screaming it so everyone can hear. EVERYONE. That, my friend, would be belting. This, is nothing of the sort.

  • @narutoandhinata4eva9 Ummmmm. You don't have to hold a note to belt it. Do you not hear the middle of the song. Listen again hun. Thats not even mixing.

  • @LesMisCrazy Sorry, darling, I'm listening to the song. The middle. That sounds nothing like belting. Could she be a bit softer? Yes. But, as for now, she is, in no way, belting. And, generally, when you belt, you are not trying to hold on note at all.

  • @narutoandhinata4eva9 pretty sure...yeah...shes belting

  • i like it, but shoshana kills it. you can't compare her to sho either.

  • its good but shoshana's is better....shoshana doesnt yell the song like this girl does....

  • if you knew ANYTHING about singing, you would know that it was NOT yelling.

it was belting which is a singing technique that many talented singers use.

  • hahaha i dont think you realize that singing is my life. there is a very big difference between belting and yelling. i know the difference thank you very much. and i never said she didnt have talent i just dont think this song suits her voice. she is amazing but this just isnt her best performance. i gave MY honest opinion and you should respect that. i completely respect yours!

  • This is much more clear and concise than than the Shoshana version, but Sho has a little more power; can't decide which I like more.

  • INCREDIBLE :0

I'm going to sing this for our show choir's dinner theater :)

  • she signs this absolutely beautifully.

    such a gorgeous voice.

at this song, she gives Sho a run for her money.

  • has anyone the lyrics

  • she is so pretty! and she sounds amazing!

  • i hate the people clapping in the bakground! ugh she is so beautiful!

  • Beautiful voice and beautiful girl. I will have to look up some other stuff she has done. Thanks for sharing this. How long has she been performing?

  • Nikki graduated from the College Conservatory of Music in 2001. She's been on Broadway in Lestat, Aida, and the revival of Les Miz. I graduated with her, and she was just as awesome in college.

  • CCM is in Cincinnati, Ohio.

  • wow! she and shoshana both graduated from there? i didn't know that.

  • its one of the biggest music consevratorys in the country

a lot of people want to go there

  • I can't decide if her voice or face is more beautiful.

    God, seriously jealous here.

  • beautiful!

  • wow...sho also, wow...

  • who does she play in les mis?

  • Fantine.

  • effortless.

  • she brings such a calmness and maturity to it.

no pretense. no "look at me".

    just beauty and emotion. <3

    stunning.

  • shes amazing

but i gotta go with sho

    im biased

    but i just love shoshana

dont blame me for it im a wicked fan

  • this is about 1 of the oldest vids wow cause youtube was just made in 2006 april

  • February 2005 actually.

even though your comments from 7months ago :L

  • I don't think there is any need to compare Nikki to Shoshanna. They both bring different things to the table and they are both AMAZING!

  • i love how she BUILDS...starts soft, then picks it up throughout

  • i love this version way more than shoshana's, nikki puts her whole heart into this song.

  • No offense, but Shoshana OWNS this song. You can tell it connects with Shoshana.

  • this sooooooooooooooooooooo beautiful ahhhhh!

  • Pure...simple version.

    I like it a lot.

  • Personally, I thoroughly enjoy both versions. If I want to listen to riffing and soul, I listen to Shoshana. If I want to hear pure sound and beautiful tone, I go with Nikki. Not that Shoshana does not have beautiful tone, it's just hard to tell sometimes with the riffing.

  • Amen! That girl knows she can really over-do-it in a good way.

  • shoshana completely owns this song

nikki's is good but i mean i don't feel any emotion

shoshana was the original and is amazing! her riffs come natural and are awesome, her voice is beautiful

but don't get me wrong nikki's isn't bad, but shoshana outshines her

  • She's amazing. I prefer hers over Sho's anyday

  • this is what i love about her singing this "insie my yarms" haha shes so cute.

  • where can i get the sheet music for this song? wowzer!

  • if you go to scott alans website, or myspace. its all on there

  • hers is waaaaaay better than shoshanas..... shes good too but SHIT nikki daniels...

  • I am totally entranced by her every time I watch this. One of my favorites. She is phenomenal.

  • lovee her version... her riffs are soo catchyy.

  • Its not Sho...

It looks like she's over thinking the notes and riffs instead of let it naturally move..

Im not saying she's not a good singer . I just love sho's version more...

  • yay your awesome cant wait to perform with you on friday~!!!!!

  • this really touched my heart. amazing. absolutely amazing.

  • WURK!

  • i like the different things that she does with this song. Very passionate performance

  • hay foxy whatever umm keep your nose in your own biz

  • like i said the both of you are ignorant

  • TEARJERKER !!

    beautiful

  • Gahhrr;

    What musical is this from?

Or who was it origanally by?

    please tell me,

Planning to do this for a audition,

    Cant find the music ANYWHERE,

Please tell me what musical its from/who it was originally by.

    Thanks

    xx

  • This is Piece the musical, number "home", sung by Shoshana Bean

  • could somebody tell me why that vein is poppin through her neck like dat!!!???

  • gross i c it too

  • i actually means shes straining herself shes not relaxed. but she doesnt sound bad though

  • ignorant

  • stop replying to your own comments n no one told you to butt in

  • you r so ignorant

  • Why are people comparing versions. They aren't competing.

  • I could watch this everyday. I saw her as Fantine in Les Mis. What a voice!

  • I think Nikki's rendition of this song is much more heartfelt and true to the words of the song. I feel like Shoshana feels the words but embellishes too much in her riffing etc. The lyrics alone make it so stunning and pair it with Nikki's interpretation you've got a really amazing song. :-)

  • Absolutely Beautiful! Nikki, you're blessed! Nuff Respect!

  • Incredible! Best rendition.

  • prefer shoshanas version a wasnt a fan of sho in wicked but i think sho owns this songs

  • Both are great. I think I prefer Sho's version because it is a little more emotional, but Nikki's is so much cleaner (you can actually understand the lyrics) and she has a better voice IMO.

  • I Love her! i prefer Sho but this version is amazing! Sho has the best riffs which i love to death but this is a much more straight forward version of the song.

  • This chic looks and sounds beautiful. She doesn't just sing to show off. She is PERFORMING throughout.

  • one word...AWESOME!

  • WOAH! :)

    she can sing amazingly,

and makes this version an outstanding performance,

its a great take on the song mmmhm,

    better than Shoshana's tbh

  • It comes down to Original versions.. Shoshana has the orginal version so .. hers is what everyone is used to ... I love this girls version... however ... Shos blows you out of your seat with her 8 Octave range... sho kills it... This girl only kills it in a small section...

  • MissSabrinaD,,

Sorry to be picky but NO ONE has 8 octaves. Sorry to tell you that. Shoshana is a great performer and singer. I love her in so many things. But she doesn't have the range you think she does.

My personal preference is Nikki's performance. She has so much control and power that it's first rate. Shoshana has some weird runs in her recorded version. Not my taste. Nikki is just plain awesome.

  • sorrry baby thats not true... a Voice does have 8 octaves some people can not hit them.. Mariah Carey has 8 octaves. Hers is not as strong as Mariahs . Its the fact of having ranges in your chest voice and head voice i took music for 15 yrs. Btw Shoshanas performance is ORIGINAL. Her runs are original. This girl i can hear that from any talented classicly trained vocalist.

  • You do realize that there are 8 octaves on a piano. I am a HUGE Shoshana fan, but nobody has an 8 octave range. False.

  • She has a 3 octave and 5 note range (D3-B6)

  • maria carey has like a 5 i think

  • Nikki's starred in the Art Park production of Aida. Her performance far surpassed any of the many Broadway Aidas I have seen. She captivated audiences night after night - - and deservedly so. She is spectacular!

  • Its nice to hear a more soulful version of this song. God i love scott alan, hes a hottie with composing talent.

  • That's absolutely amazing! I think she's a brilliant performer and she sounds great on this song in particular!

  • i like shoshana's better.

  • I adore her version of this song. It it beautiful... chills every time.

  • she kinda sounds like dolly parton on the high notes

  • I prefer this version as well but I also love shoshana

  • Well I love Nikki and I lovvve Piece so this is just perfect for me. I personally prefer this version to Shoshana's but that may because I have a bias having actually seen Nikki perform in Les Mis.

  • what a voice!

  • she is wicked man!!!!!!!!!!

where do you get the sheet music from?

  • She's kind of fantastic!

  • I love her!

  • lirics home:

    allmusicals.

    com

  • I dont really understand what people mean by "classical" Are you just referring to her vibrato? It is super gorgeous, though, I don't consider it "classical" It's still very music theater to me. I prefer this to Shoshana's...don't get me wrong Shoshana is amazing, but this is a much more intimate performance.

  • my favorite video on youtube. i can watch it everday and not get sick of it. she sings beautifully and the song is just perfect.

  • what's the myspace url??

  • quiero saber de quien es la letra?

  • Whats this song from?

  • Piece the musical

  • um WOW...i love the variation towards the end. AWESOME!

  • she is quite a talented singer, I like how her vibrato sounds supported and smooth, not choppy like many pop singers.

  • Nikki Renee Daniels really gave a captivating, sumptuous, endearing performance! she fabulous and gorgeous!

  • beautiful voice...great interpretation...hope to see more of her and can't wait for the cd of the show.

  • love the song. who is she?

  • I love how it's so different and it still sounds so good. I love her voice. Amazing.

  • I saw Nikki as Belle in BatB at North Shore a few years ago- she was fab! I love her version of the song, it's so refreshing that she doesn't feel the need to riff the life out of it.

  • That was pretty much amazing, She is about equal to Sho!

  • Daniels is such an amazing performer and she's so gorgeous too!

  • You are ...WOW...extraordinary and should keep going until someone realizes that and signs you. -ChicagoRobb-

  • fucking amazing.

  • amazing.

  • I really think Nikki should be Elphaba. And I wanna see her singing the other Home, of the Beauty and the Beast variety.

  • I can't stop watching/listening to this. Thanks to this video I ended up buying the sheet music from Scott Alan's site.

  • HOLY SHIT! She is a freaking powerhouse. I love how different her version is from Sho's.

  • Beautiful!

  • Holy crap, that was amazing

  • holy geez.

she's so amazing. i love shoshana bean and her version but i'm also partial to the more classic, belty version of this nice lady! :]

  • It is so beautiful and peaceful - I love this song!

  • I think I liked Shoshana's better, but she's amazing also...beautiful voice

  • i love u.

  • voice of an angel

  • i luv this song i luv shoshana bean is amazing at it shes amazing aswell it's from piece the musical!!!

  • I love Nikki. Thanks for uploading this video, she sounds great.

What is this song from? Or, who was the composer?

  • amazing.

    loved it.

  • wow she's a great singer/performer

  • I love it, Great Performance

  • What a wonderful performance!!

  • GREAT SINGER!

  • I have heard such amazing things about her . . . this was not quite what I was expecting based on what I have heard but I really liked it, if that makes any sense. I personally love Daphne's Fantine, but I'm going to have to get tickets to see Nikki while she's on.

  • *breathes huge sigh of relief* She'll be playing Fantine by the time I see Les Miz again... thank God! She's so good, and the Fantine on now just... isn't. At all. I can't wait!!!

  • I prefer Shoshana's version, but this one is different in a really good way, good job Nikki!!!

  • She is amazing

  • it's not working.. please upload it again... i love this version

  • Beautiful!

  • She does a fantastic job. I prefer Sho's version much more, but she is ever bit as fantastic!!!

  • Nikki is a star. End of story.

  • She is a godess! She sings supported and with the right placement, that doesn't mean it's opera! She is so INCREDIBLE! I met her and she is very nice. Love Sho but she is better! I can't stop watching this video thanks for putting it up :)

  • NOT better than Sho, but still damn good

  • I looooove this vid, a lot better then sho's.

  • I loooove Nikki Renee Daniels. Thanks so much!

  • she is fabulous!!!! i don't exactly understand where the classical comment came from, but that's ok.

  • I love Nikki. I went to school with her in Cincinnati, and saw her as TiMoune in "Once On This Island." I've always loved her voice. Does anyone know who composed this song, or Danny Calvert's song "Kiss the Air?"

  • Scott Alan

  • Fantastic!!

  • This was amazing, she has an incredible voice.

  • DAMN she can sing. I am blown away- you can tell she is comfortable....wow amazing.
