  • I don't understand why they had to give him a black background for his stage, which was common for NES games. I mean, there is only one pixel where black would be needed, but otherwise, I see no reason for there to be a black background.

    If you're familiar with the NES, you'd know they used black backgrounds for NES stages for technical reasons, to give the illusion that the boss has the color black in his sprite, when in reality it's just transparent.
