Calgary was even named the 5th most liveable in the world last year, Edmonton didn't even make the list. Calgary has no culture? If you are middle class I'm sure Edmonton is a good place to live with plenty to do and access to protection of your basic rights and freedoms allowing you to live well.

Edmonton is industry work, calgary is more business work. Edmonton has a slightly lower cost of living.

This city sucks ass. It's brown 7 months of the year with no sidewalks. Worst weather ever, winter it's -40, summer it's too fucking hot. Worst transit, buses are never on time and the LRT goes up and down a single road. People die here.
I'm from Mississauga, Ontario. It's a suburb of Toronto and almost the same size as Edmonton. I visited Edmonton last summer. Its a lovely and beautiful city and I visited all these places. Edmontonians should be proud of where they live.

Edmonton is a nice plc is live. The river is Clean. We have the Second Biggest Mall in the World ( West Edmonton Mall ). We have alot of fesibals like ( Capital Ex ) only opens in the summers. We have cold weather for 5- 6 mouths and warm for the Other months.
yes, it is the murder capital of the country and you always hear sirens here or there.. They are still revitalising the city and have a hard time attracting major business (most headquarters are in Calgary) . Calgary is a better looking town (like Edmonton I wouldn't not call her a city by world standard, not even metro Toronto) . If you are a minority, stay out of Alberta. In recent years , the province is flooded with even more racists from Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
As sovereignty was saying, easy to find job, yes, for whites, if you are a minority and and not into blue collar jobs such as welders, boiler repairmen, constructions etc , you are screwed except for jobs whites won't do or can't do. UofA is a very school for engineering or medicine. After completing school, one should get out before the city drains you of your energy. Don't come to Alberta if you are a minority, full of racists (both Edmonton and Calgary, rural areas).
Winter is not as cold as some described. -35 C on some days only and doesn't last for weeks or months. For some reasons , people think -20C or even -10C is like the Arctic.
But it is a boring city, the Mall, that's it, or festivals for those who care. It is an artsy city, waste money on museum, etc. You can tell it has a small town mentality, just watch the local news, they try hard to connect something trivial and remotely related to Edmonton. It is also the murder capital of the country.
After coming here from Toronto I realized that Edmonton is still in stone age.
But after my trip to Singapore and Shanghai I realized that Toronto is in stone age comparing to these cities. Which makes Edmonton...well... I don't know.
To me, tourists should come to see the Rockies and not waste time on Edmonton or Calgary.

I for one sort of like Edmonton. If I were a tourists, I wouldn't go there for the architecture or culture, but I certainly would go there for North America's largest mall. This video sort of makes Edmonton seem a redneck-hillbilly shittown, which in some ways it is, but I for one, as a citizen of it, find that it's a remarkable city if you look in the right places.

Edmonton is a big steaming pile of shit. Calgary is far nicer. I have lived in both. The only three great things about Edmonton are;
1) Leaving it
2) It gives you an enormous appreciation of city's that aren't gross (taste the bitter, etc)
3) The Oilers are a great team to watch.

besides vancouver's housing is way too pricey, calgary's think its the centre of the universe when its really far from, toronto is the centre of the universe but its too pricey too. montreal isnt my type, and ottawa is boring other than museums and i also dont feel like driving for 2 hours in traffic to reach a sens game.

(continued) When I was living in downtown Calgary, I never had to leave 'cause everything I needed including specialty shops were there. In Edmonton, it's impossible to live without a car, because transit is horrible here and somethings are downtown, other stuff on whyte; outlet stores you have to go far south to South Ed. Common and far west for West Ed. Mall. Other things are north. Not to mention 15 min. east of downtown is cities edge and 1.5 hour west- needs to be central and developed more

wow, that really makes Edmonton look much better than it is- where was the shots f all the ugly industrial areas, or shots of major downtown avenue (without a festival parade stampeding down the street) that are empty, due to lack of development.... Don't get me wrong, I DO like Edmonton, it is my home; however, I wish that there wasn't so much urban sprawl. In any major North American city, downtown is the nucleus/main hub of a city....

I used to live in Toronto.
Because of my job, I came to Edmonton(I miss my mom & dad...)
Anyway, I find Western Canadians are more humble, kinder and nicer than Eastern Canadians(no offense to them, I like Torontonians but I find Edmontonians kinder and nicer).
A great place to visit and a great place to live.

Edmonton is NOT a bad place to visit. It is a BAD place to live. And it is getting worse each day.
Just 2 years ago it was great. Tons of jobs, good money, peaceful on streets, less traffic, good drivers with lots of patience.
It is a whole different story today. I don't even mention the crime rate jumped up dramatically.

Edmonton is a nice plc is live. The river is Clean. We have the Second Biggest Mall in the World ( West Edmonton Mall ). We have alot of fesibals like ( Capital Ex ) only opens in the summers. We have cold weather for 5- 6 mouths and warm for the Other months.

They are still revitalising the city and have a hard time attracting major business (most headquarters are in Calgary) . Calgary is a better looking town (like Edmonton I wouldn't not call her a city by world standard, not even metro Toronto) . If you are a minority, stay out of Alberta. In recent years , the province is flooded with even more racists from Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

As sovereignty was saying, easy to find job, yes, for whites, if you are a minority and and not into blue collar jobs such as welders, boiler repairmen, constructions etc , you are screwed except for jobs whites won't do or can't do. UofA is a very school for engineering or medicine. After completing school, one should get out before the city drains you of your energy. Don't come to Alberta if you are a minority, full of racists (both Edmonton and Calgary, rural areas).

Winter is not as cold as some described. -35 C on some days only and doesn't last for weeks or months. For some reasons , people think -20C or even -10C is like the Arctic.
But it is a boring city, the Mall, that's it, or festivals for those who care. It is an artsy city, waste money on museum, etc. You can tell it has a small town mentality, just watch the local news, they try hard to connect something trivial and remotely related to Edmonton. It is also the murder capital of the country.

It all depends where the tourists are from.
After coming here from Toronto I realized that Edmonton is still in stone age.
But after my trip to Singapore and Shanghai I realized that Toronto is in stone age comparing to these cities. Which makes Edmonton...well... I don't know.
To me, tourists should come to see the Rockies and not waste time on Edmonton or Calgary.

The ad wasn't bad, although I think there were a few elements missed that should have been in there. Muttart Conservatory, Louis Mckinney Park, Shumka, University of Alberta, Alberta Aviation Museum, Art Gallery of Alberta, Alberta Ballet to name a few things. Also instead of showing Jasper which is pretty far away, what about places like Elk Island Park and Renolds Museum

I for one sort of like Edmonton. If I were a tourists, I wouldn't go there for the architecture or culture, but I certainly would go there for North America's largest mall. This video sort of makes Edmonton seem a redneck-hillbilly shittown, which in some ways it is, but I for one, as a citizen of it, find that it's a remarkable city if you look in the right places.
