The daytona had a true wing. It was attached to the frame of the vehicle creating true down force where its needed. Trunk wings are more for looks then practicality.

solid axles are probably better than independent for track. All old school racers used solid axle, so it is proven.

rear axle isnt really affecting them at all. the fr500c mustang racecar has no problem keeping up with bmws and porches and has the live rear axle. theyve just added some coilovers and sway bars. this is in the FIA GT4 in europe.

One of my favorite cars of all time. Too bad with nearly 4000lbs it really wouldn't be competative against cars like the 911, z06, wrx, evo, skyline and rx7 that it would run into on a trackday. But it would definitely put a smile on anyones face who drive it. I'd take a Trac Pac before a vette any day, but i wouldn't expect to be the one passing.

yeah, now all they need to do is learn how to use a independent rear instead of the solid rear axles lol. they can keep the weight if they want, but in order to really make it perform on the track, it needs to get rid of the solid rear end.

the solid rear is a compromise really. most people who want to do anything with their mustang, are going to the dragstrip, not the twisty track, and many people buying a mustang, are knuckle draggers, and fear an independent rear. I don't ever see it getting an independent rear ever, but I bet an aftermarket kit may be in the works

i AGREE! the rear axle is killing them in the handling department!!! Independent rear suspension would help keep the rear tires glued to the road. while it is true most mustangs are dragged at the strip, they should come with an optional independent rear set up in my opinion. Im more of a Saleen guy but the Roush 'Stangs are pretty nice.
