I had the privilege of partying with Peter Jennings in 1975 when he came to speak at our political science student's association meeting in Charlotte. We all made it to a Holiday Inn club and I stood next to Peter with the disco music blaring in the background, bumming a couple of Canadian cigarettes from him as I didn't really smoke. I asked him what college courses I should take to be a network reporter and he said, "I didn't go to college. I just went to work." What a guy!
One of the best Anchormen ever. No arguments. I'm only 16, but Peter Jennings changed me forever. I remember running around when Peter came onto TV with the ABC World News theme. We all love and miss you Peter Jennings.
An uncle of mine was diagnosed with lung cancer only two months after Peter died. Sadly, he passed away in 2007 - this is always tough for me to watch.
Peter the Great! I have such fond memories of Peter Jennings. He was by far the best broadcast news anchor I'd ever seen and heard. He was a reporter. I greatly miss him and his "World News Tonight" broadcasts. God bless Peter Jennings.
When I was a child, there were certain male voices I loved listening to, voices that gave me comfort: my father's, the Beatles' (all of them) and Peter Jenning's. No matter how horrific the news, Peter always sounded calm and totally in control. I can't think of another anchor--except perhaps Cronkite--that has ever made me feel that way. He gave a little girl hope that there was always good in the world.
I grew up with peter jennings... he was a part of my life. Very very sad. Apparently he was not the nicest guy to work with and I don't anything about his politics or how he was biased in his reportings but I grew up listening to him and it was a part of my life. that voice was unmistakeable. :(
@Matice21 Yea man this was 5 years ago, and it amazing how much it affects you when you dont realize how much a part the guy had in your life when you listen to him everyday. He was there during some of the biggest stories of our (my) lives and then its gone. Thats how life happens.
I am an Executive Assistant by trade and have worked for the top executives at two (2) Fortune 500 companies. I always dreamed of being Peter Jennings assistant. I had the good fortune of meeting his assistant, Gretchen, at a conference for executive assistants in NYC. I simply loved listening to this man speak.
R.I.P. Peter Jennings and thank you for always making me smile.
Damn! I never knew that he died... What a shock... RIP good man.... Lung Cancer you punk bitch! We miss you Mr Jennings...

Peter Jennings was a giant of journalism. I'm Canadian, so maybe I'm biased, but, wow, he was such a talent, and such a gentleman.

Poor Mr. Jennings had a lot to go through during his epic battle with cancer. Now he is in no more pain and suffering.
