  • What a VOICE>>>>

  • What a VOICE>>>>

  • she is so beautiful

  • She is one of country music's most wonderful female singers. What a voice and what a delivery.

  • Pure Class! Country Music at it's best. Happy Birthday Connie!! She will be inducted into WV Hall of Fame in Oct. Well deserved. I think she is the greatest female singer of all time!! It's a shame "trashville" can't get it's act together and put her in CM HOF. Fans should look for her new CD which comes out this month.

  • she has a moustache

  • Aside from a clear, strong, melodic voice, Connie Smith has always displayed execptional lyrical interpretation and phrasing. She infuses each song with such stellar vocal qualities that even mediocre material is transformed into something memorable, even magical. Connie Smith is a country music star of the first magnitude.

  • @WALRU11 Well said that is the truth..

  • What a great voice

  • Real Deal Country....

    Love this stuff....

  • I was so in love with Connie Smith when I was a Kid. But there is one song she sang called,

"BURNING A HOLE IN MY MIND"

Does any one know where I can find that record.

I had the 45, but that was, but that was Yeeears ago

  • @CNote2Cnote" Burning A Hole In My Mind " can be found on the "Essential Connie Smith" CD.Funny I was just looking for that one myself! It too is a great tune by Connie. Marty was like the rest of us,in love with Connie, only he got to marry her (years later)!! Lucky guy!

  • Many consider Connie the best female country singer of her generation (she still sounds great). Even her speaking voice is a wonder of tone, power, and rich country flavor.

  • Miss Smith has a sweetness in her voice ( vocal sweetness ) that today's female country singers can't match at all 1

  • TODAY'S SO CALLED COUNTRY MUSIC WILL NEVER AND CAN NEVER COME CLOSE TO BEING AS GOOD AS THIS ,THE CLASSIC COUNTRY WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST WITH THE GREATEST LEGENDS AND SINGERS .LIKE SOME BODY ONCE SAID THEY CAN ONLY IMMITATE BUT THEY'LL NEVER DUPLICATE THESE SONGS.

  • @SuperPauljs how true

  • The best thing Ohio ever produced was my Dad and Connie Smith.

  • Great classic song by cute n' country Connie Smith! I sure miss those days of real country...and just look at this classy performance...no torn up jeans, no scruffy beards...just clean, crisp, classic country. We have these recordings and our memories.

  • I've been looking for the song "Two Empty Arms". I think Connie Smith may have sung it. Has anyone else heard it ever?

  • The Best Female performer, in Country Music ! And I'm 47 !

  • Weldon does so wonderful on this song! ( he usually does)

  • wonderful

  • Classic indeed !

  • Was fortunate to hear Connie at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee in June. Did a wonderful job - what a talent. She sings regularly there. You may be able to hear it on clear channel AM650 WSM on Friday and Saturday nights.

  • So beautiful!

  • every time I hear Connie sing this I fall in love all over again

  • Once upon a time I was a disc jocky at WAGF, a small AM station in Dothan, Alabama...and I remember playing Connie's records....

  • she had the clearest voice ever!

  • Bring back real country music and get rid of the rubbish they are shoving down our throats today

  • @fatcat1949 Come on down to Texas we never lost it. There is a whole new generation of Honky-Tonk and Western singers. Not like this over produced hackery we got calling itself country music. Bobby Flores-Justin Trevino-Larry Boone and a bunch more.

  • Music worth listening to...real country!

  • she is a beuitful young lady ( i know i spelled word 3 wroung )

  • my name is mary macdonagh from ferbame co offaly ireland; iii lov this song

  • Great Song, haven't heard that for years, thankl you!

  • Connie has been my favorite female country singer for as long as I can remember . what a voice!!!!!

  • this is country music... not like the crap they call country today, which is all yelling and screaming cause they can't carry a tune.

  • A fantastic live performance of one of Connie's best. Her steel guitarist, Weldon Myrick, is responsible for the signature steel sound on most of her hits. He was also a well-respected studio musician and steel player in the Grand Ole Opry staff band.

Gary Carter is her current steel player. He not only plays for Connie's band, but he is also the steel player for the Marty Stuart Show (on which Connie, Marty's wife, is a regular). Weldon Myrick has guested on the show a couple of times.

  • By the way - the host at the end is Jerry Byrd, maybe the greatest Hawaiian steel guitarist of all time.

  • I agree, the steel guitar sounds great! And I think Connie is really gorgeous! What a great song and singer!

  • Killer steelguitar tone.

  • Great song from a time when country music WAS country.

  • @bastonka77 yep from, 2002 its shit the 60s and 70s and 90s were prime

  • i want her earrings. lol

  • I love my lps by Connie. Its even better to watch her perform. GREAT!

  • "once a day" is a much better song, also sung by her

  • One of the great girl singers and she's still getting it today.

  • Thank you so much for posting these clips! This is a dream come true for me, to not have to sit through informercials to see this. God bless you!

  • Classic and Classy! What a great comment. Those two qualities are almost non-existant in "today's country," which is little more than the bastard child of pop and rock. Sorry, truth hurts. Connie is so special. Her personal life has brought her pain and heartache, and it comes through in her music. I am glad she has found some measure of happiness now.

  • it is so much better reading the comments on a classic and classy country singer like Connie Smith than those people called country today now go to your phone and reqest a song by Connie Smith on the radio thanks

  • Her voice is so powerful, notice how far away the microphone is. Plus, she has Weldon Myrick in her band, he is legendary! Connie was and still is one of the finest singers of any genre.

  • When you have real tallent, you don't have to "eat" the mic or shake your body to get someone to pay attention! All Connie has to do is sing.

  • Yes,& she has a really pretty dress on& doesn't have to wear a belly top& too tight jeans! she just sings like an agel& looks like one too!

  • nice to see a performer like connie not have to run out and straighten her teeth shes so natural

  • can you not just enjoy the song. the reason we have all these repetative and meaningless songs is because of the video. if George Jones started out today they wouldnt let him sing cause of his big ears. but allan jackson tells us he has a truck and the crowd goes wild

  • No one like her before or since -thanks!

    Jon (goneglobal35com)

  • Great Video !! 5 Stars!!!

  • wow, I was only 8 then. Little did I know that years later she'd be my favorite singer!

  • I was 18 in 1966. She won my heart.

  • Im 17 now in 2009 n I think she looks and sings great!!

  • O My GOD! the steelguitar`s always sound sooo good! golden eramusic! where have they gone...

  • she still alive? she;s so beautiful...she could be as well be my mom now..but who friggin cares! hahaha!

I love this genre along with the Beatles, Critters, Zombies, Beach Boys, Byrds etc! Thanks for posting!

  • Not only is she still alive but still sounding magnificant and looking supurb!!!

  • she is now Mrs. Marty Stuart and performs all the time. Still sounds the same.

  • Connie is wonderful. I love the vintage footage, this is real country music. I really like "You and your sweet love" by Connie thats my fav from her.

  • Connie was so lovely in this performance it almost took my breath away. Listening to her sing it's no wonder the world loves her

  • And isn't it something that you almost never see a negative comment about her?? THAT IS CLASS!!

  • god shes 1 fine singer

    she got a good songs

    great woman chavvy

  • Connie looked so beautiful here. In this particular performance, she's 24 (only one year older than me). The dress and those shoes were GORGEOUS!!! --and i want those earrings.

    LOL

  • Voices like Connie and steel guitars are almost a thing of the past.... Sure do enjoy hearing these!

  • This is what "real country" is! I wish it was still like this.

  • yeah patsy

  • Beautiful song, beautiful lady. Thanks for posting. It brings back memories when country music was real country!

  • AMEN, "Til I Can Make it On My Own", "The Ways To Love A Man", and my favorite "Crying In The Rain" Tammy is great, I would have loved to go to one of her concerts but I was 5 when she died 98. SHE WAS AMAZING, Beautiful voice. =^.^=

  • what is that guy in the back laughing about?

  • maybe he is happy to be near connie! what a name, connie. why thats my name too! Long live all connies!

  • Listen to that voice. With all due respect to the one and only Patsy, I think Connie had the best female voice in country music. A great, natural singer.

  • Yes, I love her too - what a great song and oh so true.

  • It isn't a competition.

  • Patsy Cline could out sing any female artist she ruled with the voice she had

  • And who could forget the man who probably contributed more to Connie's lovely voice than anyone, on her right, Weldon Myrick. he played steel for Bill Anderson before and during these years and went on to be the longest employed staff steel guitar player at the Grand Ole Opry, over 30 years, and Weldon is still going strong today. What a classic video !!

  • Jack Watson, lead guitar, standing behind Connie,to HER left, our right, was her second husband who also played for George Jones before he played for,and married Connie. She married twice after Jack. She is presently married to Marty Stuart, who is 17 years her junior, since July 1997.She has 2 older sons, and 3 daughters. She turned 67 August 14, 2008, still beautiful and still has a beautiful voice.I've been a fan of hers since "Once a Day".Never heard of anyone saying anything negative about her.

  • That was so amazing, we really enjoyed that post, thank you and great job Connie!

  • Ahhh, the ANGELIC Connie Smith! If you find a better "Natural" Vocalist please let me know who they are.

  • Spadin, that would be impossible.

  • Have you ever heard of Mandy Barnett? She's too good for the new country, so she hasn't become really famous yet. She has her own website. Check her out.

  • great Country music, this is how country should be. great pedal steel guitar .

  • I Work In cracker Barrel..They Play.. Her Songs Sometimes ..And I Like that,Thank You,.. For Share With Me ...

  • Now this is REAL country music the way it ought to be! Thanks for posting this!

  • The guy playing the guitar behind Connie, to her left, is her second husband, and her husband at the time of this recording. His name is Jack Watkins. He also played for George Jones.

  • I love the steel, I took lessons for two years on a single bar, I never was able to master it.

  • Maybe try again! After some time, giving it a second chance you could succeed.

  • Thanks for the friendly advice Azzar, you're very kind, but I think i,m a little too old now.

  • An Amazing man! God rest your soul Baby!!

  • Now this is just great! The way music SHOULD BE!

  • awesome! a real peice of what our country "used to be"

  • This lady is the best! Thanks for this clip!
