I'm glad I came across this video! So many people think that a bunny is just something you put in a cage and let it sit. They really look like they're enjoying what they're doing, because frankly if they didn't like it, they would just hop away. :)
are all your rabbits trainable? I could never get mine to come over and take a treat from my hand--she was so skittish and preferred to hide-- sometimes would attack my hand when I went into her cage with a scoop of food. Your rabbits seem really sociable. You're a great trainer!
All rabbits are trainable... but... first they have to learn to trust you compleatly and alot of people just casually own rabbits and don't spend the extra time to bond with them. Also the reason your bun attacts you in the cage is becouse it's become cage protective...Buns are very teritorial and if you don't make your hands in the cage = something great happens they will attack it. This also happens to buns when spend too many hours in an issolated cage. Check out House Rabbit Society.
have you heard of the show pet star because they should go on it.They are awesome.Pet star auditions end October 26.Its a contest on animals tricks and you win cash prizes. You should try it cuz they are great
I just started dong this with my bunny but he doesnt listen he now knows that if he does what i want he gets a click and a click = food but he dosnt concentrate how do you get your bunny to isten and concentrate instead of running away ?? also mine goes to the toilet and gets over heated easily but the vet says hes fine do you have any advice ????????? very good training well done !!!
To get a rabbit to concentrate, you train in a quiet somewhat boring place, you use fantastic treats and train for a short amount of time. Maybe do 5 clicks then stop for a bit. If your rabbit comes back for more training, do another 5 clicks than quit. Eventually your rabbit will be able to focus longer. Also break down the tricks into small easy steps so that your rabbit can be successful.
I first practice in a quiet enclosed area so if they hop off, they can't go far. I try to use really great treats to keep them motivated and I only train for a few minutes before I give them a break. After they get used to clicker training they will concentrate for longer periods of time. If they hop off I either wait until they return or I go do something else and try again later. Most rabbits stay still and quiet on hot days so they don't over heat. I try to train when it's cool.
The giant rabbit is an angora. He is a cross between a French angora and a giant angora. He actually isn't as big as he looks on the video. He weighs slightly more than his brown and white bunny friend who looks a lot smaller.
i have 8 rabbits(tippy, gloria, brudie, pumpkin, pumpkin jr.,mr. snuggles, caocao, and jorden) i cant get my bunnies to do what i asked them to. makes me mad. they dont like me
great rabbits!!!!!!!! wow!!!!! he for some reason my rabbit isn' good with standing on her back legs. is there a treat or type of food that's a better motivator??
wow!! amazing!! im training my rabby but i got to get the book 1st! i have the clicker though! I want to take care of rabbits when I get a little older... but I can't yet! November 6 is my birthday! funny how that works! well keep up what you do with the fascinating creatures!!!! and TheJasonHouse... you might want to take a look at a flemish giant! Again Thanks for sharing that amazing vids. I hope I can come to the next expo! love, a fellow rabbit lover!
To the comment below me... that doesn't necessarily make your rabbit stupid. The rabbit could be shy, or not trusting you yet, or might simply not enjoy being picked up.
Rabbits are naturally prey, so it's understand able how they might be cautious about being handled by a significantly larger creature.
Consider buying yourself a stuffed animal instead?
You need to approach her like you're another rabbit. Don't do anything that may frighten her. Lay on the ground and let her come to you. If you bond with her, she'll be more likely to let you hold her.
i love the kind of the rabbits that the grey one is(forgot wat kind)i have a white with black spots dwarf bunny male just started teaching him to jump =]
hi my rabbit robbie can do that and i haven't trained him at all. Watching ur rabbits is like watching mine but robbie follows my scent and it lead to him being able to follow me over jumps watch Robbie the Jumping Rabbit
lol when the big fluffy one came up from behind it reminded me of the cooki monster from sesame street and it was looking at the treat going "COOKIES!"
The carrot obstacle course was adorable. I was able to teach my cat tricks with a target and a clicker, just as shown in this video. It really works! I've never owned a bunny before; they look hard to train!
I use mostly rabbit pellets as treats. My rabbits are free fed hay and they only get about 1/4 cup of pellets per day. I use part of their daily ration for training.
I attempted to teach my guinea pig tricks, but all I taught him was "come". They aren't as interactive as the rabbits are. He did let me put a little hat on him and take pictures though.:P
You would be surprised at what a guinea pig can learn. My friend had one that could shake with both paws, circle right or left, walk backwards, give kisses, jump through a hoop and fetch bottle caps. My guinea pig gives high fives and is very interactive.
my friends rabbit did that for me i didnt have to train her. they were going to give her to me but she died of heat they got me another one but she died of heat to R.I.P daisy and inky
Well now I'm prepared for the next time Predators hunt Aliens on our planet. When the Alien eats a Predator *Click* ... and none when they eat humans...Soon we'll be allies!
Healthy treats are important. I like to use rabbit pellets, small bits of parsley, shredded carrot, tiny pieces of apple or an oat groat (whole oat). Small treats, the size of a rabbit pellet work best.
Rabbits shouldn't have more than a teaspoon or two of high carb food per day.
I think mine do because they used to escape on occasion and I would find them down on the parking strip jumping hurdles for fun. Also sometimes when Mattie would jump over the hurdle she would do a happy jump called a "binky" as she cleared the hurdle.
ahh bless thts well cute!!my old bunny cuddles lived in my flat and she followed me around anywhere i went i would also take her in the garnden which had no fence or anythin and if i called her she would come bk to me.if i tapped the sofa she would come and lay besides me:)and she would jump on my lap and if i liefted my leg she would run round it lol she was the best ever r.i.p cuddles
the rabbits aren't exactly trained, they're just chasing food... If u put a peice of food on ledge of course its going to jump on to it. I have a rabbit who hasn't recieved any "training" yet he can still play football, spin around, steal for a box or celebrations and his latest trick is jumping onto the window sill and looking out.
You can google "clicker training" and find more information on trainig rabbits with this method. I use all kinds of things as prizes from food to petting to freetime. Use small healthy treats like bits of carrot or whole oats or pieces of parsley.

By the way, that's not agility? That's just chasing a ball.. If you would make him criss-cross those "carrots" without having to 'guide' him with tha ball THAT'S agility
