  • Love this song .... more than you'll ever know!!!

  • And just for the record: Blood, Sweat and Tears just sounded good, clean and WHITE, before Jerry. Like interesting elevator music. Not at all spicy, like plain rice. No flavor. and Chicago also. At least their songs were fun to play, not like "Proud Mary" the "gag me with a spoon" song. Bill Hershey.

  • I read a whole lotta' comments "dissin;" this band. I only worked for 30 years playin' rock and soul music, so what do I know ?? Obviously not as much as some pasty faced, fat faggot from somewhere up North. Every cat in that band is emotionally involved in that song, and if you can't hear it, you need to go to your TV and start watching "Brady Bunch" re runs.

  • I grew up with these cats. I got to back up Jerry in '65 in Texas and Louisanna. Billy Tillman was My good friend. I am Bill Hershey from Houston, and, if you "misclicked" son, Open your ears and shut your mouth. And don't bring your best girlfriend around Jerry, not if you are just a sax player like me. What a Talent !!

  • @hersheybill Amen! After BS&T I followed Jerry with the Boogie Kings. I grew up with the Boogie Kings and have played with at least a few members. Jerry was one of the most soulful white men and black ever to walk this planet. He and Duane Yates as a duo knocked it out of the park man!

  • just fantastic

  • Am i the only one who misclicked trying to find a NeverShoutNever song o.o

  • Oh my god the guy on the flute.

  • As great as this is, and it is, it shows a band disassembled. BS&T without Al Kooper, Jim Fielder , and Steve Katz is like a heart with out a soul. All this is is Bobby Colomby and Dave Bargeron and a bunch of hired guns playing a great BS&T song. Bring back the original band for a show playing all of the first album and I will fly to wherever to see it. And yes that means leaving David Clayton Thomas at home, he was the real beginning of the end for this great band.......

  • I never knew this song even existed until I read Sherman Alexie's book Flight that talked about this song briefly!

  • Sorry,I like the original better.

  • This is how REAL MUSIC sounds, not the shite Mr Cowell packages as music...

  • fuck yea, honey badga.

  • Jerry Lacroix , yessa !! Goosbumps!

  • Jerry Lacroix , yessa !!

  • That guy is JERRY LACROIX.

  • He really loves her

  • wowwwwww, i don´t know the name of the guy but the voice is fanthastic, the feeling in there is just bo be touched with the soul!

do somebody knows his name? was just someone for the occation???

  • @MrPlayaventura damn check the damn info m8

  • That guy has some pipes and he knows how to sing the blues!!!! I was mesmerized....apparently the guy in the crowd, a little off dead center at the very end wasn't as impressed :)

  • Great voice kinda reminds me of the late Gary Moore

  • listen to average white band, cut the cake, school boy crush. i think you will like it. PS: happy birthday no matter why, no matter when.just like that.

  • no kidding.its my sons birthday and. nothing wont change my mood. My son says one coke and a cheeseburger for you. But lets talk seriously now. isnt that song something from outer space.Come on now , i miss these tunes dont you

  • αληθεια τι γινεται ρε παιδια, που υπαρχουν αυτα στην εποχη μας.

  • @Greektome1 And....I would add grape leaves and roast beast to my order, with a side of humus.

  • @thugthumper1 you tube is getting crazy.sorry, wasnt able to send a simple reply. i think its getting late.

  • @thugthumper1 IT'S THE THOUGHT THAT COUNTS!!

  • gorgeous performance....

    so much feeling...

    i can feel it....

  • ...great song...great performance...

  • After this performance, the crew had to pick up the singer's heart off the stage because he left it LAYING THERE. Absolutely fantastic!

  • I knew they were really good, I'm not surprised by the great performance, but the film quality is also fantastic for something from '74

  • Just ......great!!!!

  • This one is for you only, my beautiful doughter

and it will be the last for the next "seven hours and fifteen days" - when are you back?

  • I recognize Jerry's voice from White Trash W/Edgar Winter (A long -time favorite of mine!). WOW, what pipes! Never realized that he did a stint with BS&T. FANTASTIC!

  • Jerry did a far superior version of this song than DCT (who sucked) but I still remember listing to Al sing this live in Cleveland in the 60's and he still cant be touched (in my opinion) Also this version of the band was not as strong as the original version of the band

  • rare video J.Lac. is stupendous! g

  • Jerry LaCroix is the baddest MFKR to stand in front of BS&"T. And I loved David Clayton Thomas. LaCroix sang with Edgar Winters White Trash and was equally as UNFKNBLVBL. He should be one of the biggest stars of all time.....

  • love these guys & somehow this is the first time ive ever heard there version....there sound is just so deep..Amazing

  • Nice job by Jerry. A beautiful song. Two other monster covers of this particular tune were done by Donny Hathaway and Mitch Chakour ( Bonnie Raitt, Joe Cocker ). Both could sing it like a bird.

  • Love the flute solo. Play it Baby Huey.

  • @WilliamHW...welcome home, and I too stayed up nites listening to this great song over and over again, praying for all my soldiers to come home alive and in one piece!.....I can't get enough of this great song!

  • If You Like ROCK/Blueszzzyy/ JAZZ , BLD, SWT,& TEARS ARE THE KINGS!!!!!!!!!

  • if anyone knows about DVD edition from this concert?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Es mas que una cancion, es una declaracion de amor

  • Good night Elvis, sleep tight Janis Joplin. If you are in company with this guy, I guess you have a jolly good time. Hang in there Jerry.

  • rare video nice work

  • We remember you and love you, Jerry. Get well soon. We're thinking of you--this illustrates how full of soul you've always been.

  • That deseved a standing ovation

  • ich finde diese Version des Songs GIGANTISCH der Sänger gibt ja echt alles. Und dieser Schnorres... einfach herrlich ;-).

Schade dass ich 10 Jahre zu spät geboren wurde - naja oder eher 20,

    tja.

  • what a blast!!!

  • Another good memory!!!

  • I saw Jerry with White Trash in 1972. I don't know how he and Edgar Winter didn't blow out their throats. Phenomenal power & endurance.

  • Hey WilliamHW. Thank you brother. Thank you. Glad you had this for a few moments to take you away from all the chaos. My dad was in Vietnam. He told me music saved him too. God Bless.

  • fucking sensational

  • Hey (:

Please tell me what do you think of my band's cover to this song :P

    watch?v=tv8hjng_E4Y&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL

  • There is no other group that has the Heart and Soul as this group does...Todays musicians can't wright or sing like BS&T can... I miss you guys so much.. God Bless.

  • Absolutely great !

  • Jerry lays it all out there as he has since he was with the Boogie Kings, Edgar Winter's White Trash,etc....Jerry is now in bad health, wish him well. We all learned from this great musician and vocalist!

  • WTF!!!! I LOVE THIS SONG.....I LOVE YOUUUU, I LOVE YOUUUUU BABEEE

  • The best version! try to find better.

Jerry was,is and will be the King of The Singers!

  • If there was anybody to be loved, his name was Jerry La Croix.

Seriously talking, Jerry was one of my favorite vocalists. I hate the time he was not known among the best performers.

  • Thank you very nostalgic song

  • One of the most powerful Soul-performances i've ever seen.. pure Love!

  • Jerry LaCroix ROCKS. Underrated. He deserves much more recognition.

  • ein Wahnsinn, ich liebe dieses Lied....

  • 2 dislikes. omfg, at least there are only 2 idiots out there :)

  • WOW!!! The title says it all!!! WHAT a performance, BS&T!!! Jerry is completely amazing and I too am sending prayers for his recovery. You ARE music, Jerry. Thank you SO much for posting this. WOW!!! Blessings, min :-)

  • Hey Hamhock? thanks for the update man. I heard it was 20,000 towrards Jerries bills. I was able to get a letter to him through a friend. Joerry always has time for fan. Get well Soon Bluesman! Have loved your music since the Roadwork L.P.

  • This is how i love to end a night... makes me love life and music. thanks Jerry

  • ESPECTACULAR, QUE MANERA DE TOCAR Y CANTAR. BUENO!!!! MUY BUENO!!!

  • BS&T forever! My first album: Father is child to the man! Still playing!

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Jerry Fisher once. We have a mutual friend and he owned a bar in Bay St. Louis Mississippi. One of the nicest guys you could ever meet.

  • jerry is still very weak from his haert attack and uses a walker. He has lost a lot of weight (good thing) BUT his singing voice is still stong and true. (good thing) People came from as far away as New York New Orleans Houston Dallas and of course all over southeat Texas and Southwest Lousiana. I ssaw many old musician friends I haven't seen since the Vegas days. A large sum of money was raised andpresented to Jerry to help with his medical expenses.

    God Bless Jerry

    David "Doc" Holliday

  • The benefit was a great success, They was close to 600 people there. Jerry sang 3 songs to thunderous applause, GG Shin sang a duet with him and stayed by his side like a true brother as he always has been to Jerry through the years. I can't think of anyone who has a negative word to say about Jerry. He is truly one of the most soulful singer and a beautiful human being. Jerry was truly humbled by the outpouring of love from the folks and he expressed his love and appreciation to everyone.

  • "Downing My Own Tears" so you say! Besides Johnny Winter, I think Jerry could sing it as good! Jerry does the best "I can't Stop Loving You" that I have ever heard! What a great man his is! One of my all time favorites! I love you Jerry! Peace and love, Debbie

  • I wish Jerry Lacroix a speedy recovery. Get well soon soul man like no other. Lee.

  • The benefit will be attended by many of Jerry's friends from all over. It will be a very memorable day, If you are anywhere near Beaumont Tx you should come down on Crocket street and pay tribute to one of the all time greats in the R&B and Rock music scene, Jerry has two solo albums that are treasures in my home.

I am proud to say that Jerry is a friend of mine.

  • I have been playing guitar since 1959 and I was the guitar player in Edgar Winter's first horn band and Jerry Played sax and sang, I was 17 years old and Jerry was 19 Edgar was 15 years old we had (with Jerry) 6 horns guitar bass and drums, I have played all over the world with some of the best BUT Jerry is THE MAN even at a young age when he sang Drown in my own tears it brought tears to my eyes. There is going to be a Benefit in Beaumont TX August 29 for Jerry. I will be there.

  • my favorite BST song!! Al Kooper left with the soul

  • BS&T is without a doubt one of the greatest R&R groups ever.

  • Wowww awesome voice, they don't make rock like this anymore..

  • incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • A great live vocal performance here by Jerry LaCroix. The muscianship and the ensemble playing is exceptional too. This video really captures the 1970s rock&roll music scene. A true treasure of live rock music from the 1970s.

  • Tremenda pieza, excelente versión!!

  • i had the pleasure of working with this guy and he is the most soulful singer i have ever played behind in my 45 years of being on stage and in the house band at the apollo so there it is

  • @bubbaboud I'll agree with that. I played bari with his band in 1967. He could not only move the audience, he could bring a tear to the eyes of the band members

  • God what an underrated singer. You never hear his name when people talk about the greatest singers of rock n roll. This was an outstanding performance. WOW

  • Jerry LaCroix was extremely unfornate with the timing after White Trash; he ended up in BS&T after their great studio albums period(although they were still great live, as evidenced here) and then in Rare Earth after they too, had completed both their greatest albums and performances(although the second side of Midnight Lady, Jerry is most of the reason for it holding quite a high standard). I guess that all the greats aren`t meant to be accepted by the masses..............

  • One of my favorite singers of all time Jerry LaCroix. The man was a monster on the microphone. He used every single part of his soul and being to get every lyric out. I try to Model myself after him as much as vocal cords will allow and i wish alot of singers would do the same and learn from the best there was! thanks for post!!

  • Jerry La Croix is the man! amazing singer, amazing sax player.

  • It's hard to blame the horn players for not wanted to haul around multiple trombones, but Halligan's original part and the original horn voicings are what make this tune for me. Horn players listen to horns, guitarists listen to guitarists, singers to singers.

The original band had it going on on all cylinders!

  • Was only familar with LaCroix's great work with Edgar Winter's White Trash. Sounds pretty darn great here as well!

  • Excellent, Excellent, with all respect to Al Kooper and David Clayton Thomas. Hartley C.

  • This is the best their song!!!

  • Is it humanly possible to deliver a performance like that night after night? That was amazing!

The next generation of vocalist should take note...its one thing to have chops but its another to have soul.

  • Thank you Blood Sweat & Tears - You've Made Me SO OFTEN So Very Happy! Still great soud! Urs M.Switzerlan!

  • Absolutely amazing quality--this performance certainly rivals the original recording off 'Child Is Father To The Man.'

  • Jerry Lacroix is the bomb! What a singer...

  • Jerry Lacroix is the most soulful singer I have ever heard.wonderful. thanks. UL.

  • @Flunder

Tremenda banda Great band with amazing musicians

  • This is surprisingly good. I've always loved BS&T (in their original configuration) But definitely kudos to this.

  • This has been mine and my son's lovesong since he was a child. He is now 21 and played it for me,CD for thanksgiving dinner. We came to see if it was on utube and watch the video and were both absolutely floored by this mans passion and brillance. Its hard to find these days, BRAVO a thousand times to this singer. and the band. It made our day

    thank you.

    Sara and Steffen Schenk

  • I was a 17 and 18 year old teenage serving in the US military during the Vietnam War. I owned the "Father is Child to the Man" album on which this tune "(I Love You) More than You'll Even Know" was recorded. I used to listen to this tune at night in dark barrack room (we shared a barrck room with one or two others at Travis Air Force Base), I was alone.and lonely. These BS&T tunes provided solace and comfort.

  • lovely....

  • Love the Al Kooper contributions. Wonderfully melancholy and soulful.

  • Couldn't there be a Al Kooper video! He was the best!

  • You will never fucking know....

  • Man what a performance, I'd heard of Jerry LaCroix but had no idea he could sing like that! Wonder if Jerry's approach inspired Larry DeBari's version also here on Youtube?

  • brilliant - thanks for posting - gave me goosebumps

  • Awesome....just awesome.

  • great performance....this is exactly what our saviour wants us to know............he loves us.......humans.more than we will ever know.great post great video great group...........

  • phenomenal!

  • Oh I sure do understand,Sorry I hurt you,

This song is my favorite one of Blood Sweat & Tears. and then it's spinning wheel, when I die. I just love the way he sings this song into his heart and soul. Chills up and down spine.I try to tell you (I LOVE YOU BABY).Smile & Peace

  • Fabulous take - more heartfelt vocal by Jerry than on the original LP version, by far. Great "Tull" flute solo by Bill Tillman.

BTW, not too many know that Ian Anderson's inspiration on flute was the wild jazzman Rahsaan Roland Kirk. Lots of Roland's stuff is posted on this site.

  • Just great!!! This version touches my heart even more than the studio record with Al Kooper on lead vocals!!! Bill Tillman on flute ist as good as Ian Anderson!! ;-)

  • Yes Jerry takes care of his Mom in east Texas. I talked to him yesterday and he is well and will be singing with the Boogie Kings at a reunion in Port Arthur Texas on Feb.7th 2009. He is working on putting together is music for cd sales, He was on White Trash recycled. google Boogie Kings for more info.

  • tell him he has one of the most soulful voices ever recorded!!!!

  • In response to 70sfusion's query re: Jerry LaCroix's whereabouts after B,S & T, I believe he briefly joined the band Rare Earth around '76-'77. I'm not sure if Jerry rejoined Edgar Winter's White Trash for the "Recycled" album in '77-'78. I had a copy of that LP years ago but I don't recall the musician credits on it. This is my first view of this "lost" (now found) B,S & T concert. Good thing I was able to watch this personnel line-up of the band in 1974 when they did a concert in Manila.

  • WOW!!!!!!

  • I said it on the "So Long Dixie" vid, I love this version of the Band. I love Jerry Lacroix's (and Jerry Fisher on Dixie)vocals. I know Lacroix worked with Edgar Winter prior to his stint with BST but I wonder what happened to him afterwards. Anyway, great vid of a wonderfully soulful song by a masterful band. Thanks for the post

  • Jerry lives on the lake in east texas now and takes care of his mother mostly. He does a few shows every now and then. I wish i was even old enough to remember this. Great music!!!
