What I love about this show is how clever it is.The entire anime is a satire of the Mecha genre, which is why they've got ridiculously over-sized mecha, attacks that are powered by force of awesome and a totally absurd plot. This show was designed so that it literally runs on win, if it's cool there doesn't need to be a reason behind how it works, it just does

@TheCR155 Gurren Lagann is the Simpson's of it's genre. It was born to be a parody, but inadvertently became the best of it's genre, and by the end it was becoming a parody of itself. Like a spiral, it retained the same shape, but got bigger, and bigger. Mix that in with the good characters, the best line's in the universe, and you've got... GURREN LAGANN!

I can't get over the English voice acting. There's no soul to it. It's so...bleh. Japanese voice was way better. This and a lot of animes. But that's only because the Japanese put more in it. English is just too subtle for most animes. It needs more BALLS. In Japanese I got chills every time he said "Who the hell do you think I am?" This not so much. That's just MY personal preference :P

His voice never sounded bad to me...then again it never sounded good either...it just sounded like a voice....it wasn't his voice I based the levels of his GAR on....it was what he did....He decided to steal a gunman, because he wanted a gunman. He combined with Lagann because he wanted to. He stole a battle ship from the beastmen because he wanted to. He started a revolution to steal back the surface because he wanted to. Kamina was the man, because of what he did. Not because his voice........

wow. all the engilsh dub haters. im sorry, but this is one of the only animes i can easily say that the english dub is absolutely SUPERIOR to the japanese. the voices are perfect. dead on. infact, i thank you, because this is probably the only video ive seen someone use the english dub in O_O

I'm going to sound stupid for saying this but... Yeah, I teared up. Especially at the end. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann was a beautiful, funny, and all around amazing anime to me and you just made it better. Kamina will never die, his spirit still lives on in everyone with a fighting spirit. :)

Yeah. . . Honestly, Kamina's dub voice is a matter of opinion, but . . . if you compare it to the original Japanese voice, they are so very different as to be almost irreconcilable. In my opinion, Kamina's voice is not bad, just not quite right for the character . . . Honestly, I feel it would fit better for a post-time skip Simon.

The Great Saiyaman. Kamina is not putting on an act, he's not acting over the top, he IS over the top. What kills me the most is that the guy who voices him could have done a better job based on the other jobs he's done. But he put on a cheesy facade that didn't fit Kamina.

I like dubs, too! Honest! But Hebert Kamina seemed to me to feel like he was putting on an act when he was talking, instead of sounding like he genuinely believed what he was saying. Everyone else in the dub NAILED everything perfectly, so after a certain event, I find the dub much more tolerable. I agree that Hebert did a good job on emotional scenes, though. Just not on Hot Blooded scenes.

Ya... I'll give you that, for someone whose done hot blooded before, he doesn't have it completely downpat, especially as much as the original Japanese voice actor for Kamina. He could have been more screamy, and could have done much better. I dunno who I would have replace him as a dub actor, though, even if I tried to think about it.

Though my favorite voice actor in the entire dub was, as in every dub ever, Steven Blum. As friggin Leeron. Awesome.

Blum did a great job, and I really liked Yuri Lowenthal's performance as Simon, My only real issue with the dub besides Hebert's voice acting was how they pronounced Simon's name. I would have preferred they called him Psy-min to See-moan, to be honest. It's a bit silly that they Japanated a Western name.

@abridgeduploader agreed with most of what you said. Steven Blum is and probably always will be my fav voice actor, i mean spike, mugen, Roger Smith, Kazuma? yea i fucking love his stuff. But what i keep saying when i say i can't stand the "bad voice acting" is that i really, personally, can't accept Kaminas voice actor as Kamina, he doesn't have the feeling and the GAR i know and love in the japanese dub. that is my one and only point.

Some of video was hazy but I liked it. As for sub, I am a sub person but I don't think the english Kamina, was bad like some are saying. It was one of the few that worked for me too I think its because Kamina lied all the time till he and everyone believed it, some how that factered in. I really think that Kamina is Hideaki the writer in character. I like to think anyway. So yeah great song & AMV worked for me!

And theres thousands of eng dub haters because everyone has it rooted in their brains that all dubs are inferior to the jap audio, where this is almost a sense of ignorance. It tends to be true in more cases than one, however people need to see that there are good dubs. I SAID IT "GOOD DUBS". im sure as i type this some sniper is already pinpointing me, but its truth. And yes I hate english voice acting, only 3 anime in this world that I will watch in english. Dragon Ball Z, Ghost in the Shell, and Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggan. Simon during the depression state was a nod to the FAIL of Evangelion, the political and power struggles of Rossiu were a nod to Gundam, and when Simon became Captain Gar-lock was Gurren Lagann going it's own path, being itself, not any other show, but GURREN LAGANN.

@KetsuruiArtist Bad voice acting? o.O I actually didn't mind the voices. I never actually thought about whether they were bad or not. I've seen the movie in Japanese (with subs) and I didn't mind the Japanese voice actors, but I guess I felt a bit out of place.

It should be mentioned that the large majority (95%) of my anime I watch in Japanese, so for me to watch in English must mean it is either tolerable or I have no other choice. In this case, it is the former.
