I was a true believer until a few months ago, and it is a constant battle, but believe me, once you get over the fear of hell, christianity makes a lot more sense when you are not a believer. If god knew we were going to sin from the beginning, why does he get so angry at sin. If we go to hell for falling short of the glory of god, can I beat the living crap out of a kid for falling short of the maturity of an adult, sorry bro, sin don't exist.

When Jesus was on earth There were just as many divisions all of them wrong. he taught how love and faith was the key. He was quoted saying if you love God with all your heart, and your neighbor as yourself you do well. A lost art today.

After the holy spirit was given to lead believers into all truth as is clearly stated in the bible, you'd think they'd coalesce around the truth.

We can interpret it in any way to meet our own beliefs and desires.

Other verses explicitly say that the only thing necessary is belief.

But this is no contradiction, no. Not if we have enough 'open-minded' faith to submerge any cognitive dissonance and beneath the waters of dogmatism where intellectual integrity cannot follow.

Is there a single hermeneutic standard out there anywhere, or is exegesis a free-for-all?
