A employee time table will let you know what the speed limts are. I like to hang out where it's 70 mph on the NS AGS South. 55 mph for freight if they can get it
@cagedpurplebird Because a passenger trains locomotives and cars are designed for speed and comfort. They can take curves faster. Freight cars are designed for maximum capacity and not for the comfort of the freight, so they can't take higher speed as easy as passenger equipment.
The horn signal must be different in Kansas than the rest of the country,.. it should be 'long,long,short,lo-on-ng' instead of a random sequence of toots!
i don't count the baggage i car. I count the superliners and it has 7 superliners when normaly it has 8 superliners. but its not rear the SWC i took back in may of 08 had 7 supers
Awesome!!!

this is probably a dumb question
why is the speed limit for amtrak trains higher than the speed limit for freight trains?

He was using the "Horn Sequencer." It plays the 'Long, Long, Short, Long' sequence over and over until you turn it off.

It was a standard L-L-S-L, but the engineer (instead of holding the last L) blew another blast at the end to get through the crossing.
