  • good vid will start checking from now on

  • Wall-mart is going down one day so we will never have to worry about it!

  • I've been a cashier at Walmart for 6 years and the facts are:

    1. Cashier has no control over how much cash back customer gets.

    2. Discover cards ask if you would like cash back before you sign.

    3. Drawer will pop open as receipt is printed if cash back is requested.

    Walmart policy states:

    1. Associates are not allowed to work off the clock.

    2. If customer doesn't receive all there merchandise before leaving the store, cashier is required to log it in customer service.

  • If you believe this your full of it because I happen to be a walmart cashier and we aren't forced to work off the clock. It is one of the first thing they tell us and we have cbls that explain it. Plus we don't initiate the cash back the customer does and I reported this video for misleading text.

  • Umm... Cash back is NOT a cash advance. Your bank has no idea when you get cash back. This is dumb.

  • @ZeroDerek07 Actually, it is a cash advance if it is on credit and not debit. many cards issued by banks offer both debit and credit options and you may have to pay a fee for cash advance on credit. I do at my bank.

  • I know when I got home I didn't have all my bags with me. I called back and was informed I would have to come to the store and talk directly with customer service. I called their headquarters in AT, and talked to a V.P. and he said that is unheard of. I said you have about $24.50 of my property now. I will contact and will be filing charges. He talked to me and asked me for my address. I was told those ltems will be delivered within the hour. I also got a gift card that wasn't mine.

  • WRONG. Snopes has listed this to be FALSE. If this happened she pushed cash back all on her own. I always check my receipts. No such thing has ever happened to me.

  • That's amazing how the cashier somehow managed to push the option for cash back on the customer's side, then somehow knew and then entered the customer's pin and then entered an amount, then confirmed the total all without the customer seeing while standing right there.

This video is obviously made by Target's marketing team.

  • And no, the amount cannot be put back on your cards. There's no way for our systems to do that.

  • A lot of the debit readers have such sensitive screens, you could hit one button and it selects the other. But aside from that, it's the CUSTOMER that has to confirm the cash back screen. I still have customers come thru my line and say "What does this say? Oh do you want cash back, NO I don't want cash back" and others think it's showing the total amount they're being charged for their bill and they hit "yes" without reading the question. It isn't the cashier's fault.

  • When I worked for a photo contractor in Wal-Marts around the country several years ago, i used to often bullshit with managers when business was slow. A lot of times they would tell me about cashiers from walmarts around the country that had stolen TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS from scams like this and overscanning over just a few years. Bottom line is pay attention or you will get taken advantage of somewhere along the road

  • At my Walmart you always have to agree to get cash back...as far as the unfair treatment of the workers I'm sick of this argument. If they don't like it don't work there! With the amount of people out of work be lucky to have a job! Don't be uneducated consumer or worker....DUH!

  • I watch this video for the awesome Inner Circle remix.. ;-)

  • BEWARE FOR THE EMPLOYEES OF TODAY AT ANY STORE , THEY WILL STEEL YOU BLIND AND THEN SOME...

  • @f22videos not steel? ..I'm really going to keep an eye on them now! =D

  • Lol this video is funny. Dude Walmart is a Fortune 500 company. They dont need to scam people. I Personally Don't care for walmart, but I can tell u that it was ur own fault. Plus if u go back to customer service they will Refund all ur Money which u think U got scammed out of regardless if it's a penny or $5000! I returned a Laptop for $2000 after 2 months and they still gave me money back, even though it has 14day return policy.

  • One of the reasons i use credit instead of debit when i use my card. By using credit you dont get charged a POS charge and there is no cashback option.

  • Lol and yes, I was a floor associate, but also used to ring occassionally and now that i think about it, it isn't possible. The option for cash back is on the customer side (Credit card machine) not the cashier's.

  • 2:09 - I doubt it was that much. :-)

  • simple walmart SUCKs

  • haha i had my subwoofer on max bass it was awesome

  • This video is misleading and incorrect.

Probably created by a sad person who wants a union at Wal-mart.

  • I do work at Walmart and am a sales associate in the garden center. I am trained on cash register and I cannot at all select cash back. That is the customers decision (if using debit) on the card reader in front of them. I would have to physically turn the card reader around so I can see the screen to select cash back. That cashier did not purposely select cash back. The reader might have been malfunctioning. But more and likely they probably accidentally selected it. Ive seen customers do it.

  • I do not see anywhere on your coworkers receipt 20 dollars cash back. It's always under the total. And it does not show cash back at all. Why do you have to lie for?

  • to be fair, the walmart i work at remodeled and got different computer almost two years ago, so maybe the walmarts these people are going to have crappy machines

  • shoppers need to be adults and take responsibility for their fingers when using those pin pads, i have seen it happen many times where a customer accidentally pushes the wrong button, and they either say "oh well" and take the money, or we cancel the order and start re ringing. its not a huge deal.

  • BTW, cancelling and re ringing an order really isnt that big of a deal. also, when a customer requests cash back, the drawer automaticallly pops open, again, without the cashiers control. so it would be almost impossible for this mistake to happen and if the cashier intentionally somehow ripped off this customer, then they would immediately be fired and investigated by the asset protection department as this behavior is not tolerated.

  • i work at walmart and the way that our registers are set up, the cashier cannot choose to put on cash back. it was probably the customers slip up. because on our side of the monitor we have no "cash back" option. its all on the little pinpad that you swipe your card on. to be fair, the pinpas coooullld have been defective, but i have never had this problem.

  • Walmart DOES do this. I had it happen to me YESTERDAY. And i live in jacksonville, Nc. Not only is this cashier under investigation but my husband is a marine, and his command came down when the supervisor told me i was 'stupid' and 'difficult' for making her rescan everything. i had over $200 in stuff. and i made her re do it.

  • Wal Mart has Dozens of Lawyers on Staff. They make more on their Scams & MisTreatment than they ever lose. It's a percentage game with them. I try not to shop there. Same thing with Sam's Club/aka/Wal Mart. COSTCO treats it's Employee's well by all accounts. There's no good reason that Wal Mart can't do the same. Not to mention almost everything in the place is Made in China. Except of course for the stuff that's made in Pakistan, India, Vietnam, Thailand, & so on.

  • the only way to get cash back is to request it yourself... or atleast now that is.. so we dont know you want money till end of transaction and thing pops open and the screen says cash back so either your fingers were big or the thing was diffective but if no one else complained its not walmarts fault.. no stores perfect at all we all human worried about lill things that uve done is crazy

  • the cashier dosent even know if you asked for cash back till the end of the transaction and has no control of it you dick

  • You obviously requested the $40 cash back, considering it ASKS YOU if you want cash back. You're a lying sack of shit.

  • I never had a problem with the Cash Back option on the touch screen pin pad, but I have had them charge me for items that I did not purchase on more than one occasion. I asked for my money back and the cashier said she couldn't do that. I asked for her sueprvisor and the supervisor told me "its a big pain in the butt to do that" I said I don't care, I am not paying for items that I do not have in my basket. She eventually deleted the whole order and scanned it all again in order to give me $5

  • this is COMPLEAT BS!!! im a Cashier at WM and the custmer HAS to select cash advance we cannnot add money to the total once it as been rung in unless we clear it and wring in more stuff for them EG gum ^.^ have a nice day and thx for shopping at Wallmart!

  • This is retarded, and if you do select cash back you also have to press yes to confirm the amount.....and lol @ "how much money she pocketed"...yeah, the cashier has scammed countless victims out of cash back.

  • Just one of the 7 diffrent walmarts in my area brings in $50,000-$300,000 a day! not alot in cash tho most people use plastic!

  • I shop at my super walmart all the time....this has NEVER happened to me. Never even heard about it

  • lol i hate wal mart in 2008 i bought an xbox 360 and ps3 and both boxes had no fucking controllers in it wtf is wrong with that shit i got them for christmas right and i went there boxing day to return they tell me sorry u cant return electronics even tho they had no controllers in it stupid fucks

  • This story is a LIE. The option of requesting cash back or denying cash back is up to the customer, and the customer only! The CUSTOMER is the one that presses "yes" or "no" on the electronic pad, NOT the CASHIER.

  • @tearxofthephoenix you do know they can override the customer transaction pad at the counter. just like they can for check cashing. or money order. your a moron to think that they CANT do this.

Because they can. in my state it is illegal to advance money from an unauthorized financial establishment.

and this is because of this kind of thing happening.

  • @gageoninja The only moron here is you for thinking that it's possible to "override transactions". How can a person override a check, a monery order, etcetera? PLEASE SHOW ME.

It's illegal in ALL OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and elsewhere and why shouldn't it be?

  • people got to remember that we live in the computer age, and computers are subject to error.i work at walmart as a cashier, and ive seen this happen ALL the time.my store is supposed to have new models. but they are too cheap it seems to get new ones. as for stealing? how could we do much of that? really? it is VERY hard to steal at walmart. and we wouldnt want to lose our jobs. Also customers DO have to PAY attention to whats on the screen. when it comes to the pad, cash or no,

  • Scams happen all over... not just Wal-Marts... the cashair is stealing... not the company.

  • I've been working at a store in WI for 11 months, and there's no way we could initiate that shit without the customer knowing. Cash back is shown on the display IF AND ONLY IF they requested cash back themselves. The way they describe this happening is complete BS.

  • This sounds like a real tea bagger!!!!

  • Thats why I only use CASH. Credit Cards are the down fall of man. Use Cash. What are you going to do when all the computers crash? We always check our receipt. And with cash they can't screw you.

  • This video is an outright lie. I work at walmart and there is no way the cashier can force a cash back on you. The customer is the one who does it, and in no circumstance can the cashier force it on you. It comes up as change on our end. I don't know why this person made this story up, but I guess they needed some attention. They probably hit "cash back" and changed their minds, and were mad when they couldn't put it back on. Her niece is a lying sack of shit too.

  • I'm a Walmart cashier, there's no way the cashier can force you to do cash back. It will only prompt on the customer's side of the machine, and they choose the amount or none. It comes up as change on the cashier's side, and they assume you decided to do cash back. They aren't trying to scam you, if they did they'd get fired the next day because there's a camera on every register with someone watching them and the person that watches us cashiers isn't a nice person.

  • I work at a walmart actually and they are not that stupid the customer has to select the cash back not the cashier. so yeah just saying get over yourself and that never happened to you

  • what is cash back?

  • The cashier side of the register never prompts for cash back, I don't understand how this scam would work. Unless you kept accidently asking for cash back on the CUSTOMER side of the prompter. You should probably read the prompter before selecting YES.

  • Ok i work at walmart as a cashier and had a customer mention this SO called trick . Not sure u assume these people are trying to steal from you when @ our store on our system I can not anything on my screen that u do on your side all it tells me is if u pick credit or debit so forth...then after you complete your transaction on your side is the only time i am aware if you picked the cashback option when it tells me how much change you get back or none at all. I think ur the scam

  • america and the uk are full of these shops. so if you really want to make a difference for you people find a way to keep your money where it's need. I buy everything I need from locals. farms and corner shops and etc. it might be hard at first but in time you will see and feel that it is the right thing.

  • this is such bullshit haha

  • I think this is a hoax. The customer asks for cash back. Even if they do it by mistake, we still give them the cash. Everything that happens is on camera. if a customer complained that they were ripped off, the camera would get reviewed and the cashier would be fired or possibly arrested.

  • why do people find it necessary to put annoying background music in videos like this? If you think your video needs background music then make it BACKGROUND music and pick music that relates to your video. Yes, I do mute it so I don't have to listen to it but after muting the annoying music on about the 1 millionth video I decided to make a suggestion to the world.

  • You guys are full of shit, its the customers fault who ask for money back and dont even notice it.

  • @accordionkings No it isn't. It might be negligence, but I'm sure the police might have a different idea of the matter.

  • If you actually check with Snopes yourself and don't just take the video's description about what Snopes says as fact, you'll see that the claim this video is making is a hoax.

  • this id_ot must be working for Wallmart lol

  • @junmeskie Why did you make a video 7 mintues long when clearly the same information could of been stated in less than 2 minutes. If you want to get a point across then dont drag the video into 7 mintues of bullshit stories and please save the horrible/annoying music for your headphones where it is the only place that techno remix shit is enjoyed

  • @mexclean Fuck you.

  • @mexclean shutup you monkey

  • walmart = scum

  • WOW is that TRUE??? If it is... IT'S GOOD TO KNOW! ALTHOUGH...THANK GOD I ALWAYS PAY CASH!!! =P

  • I work for Wal-Mart and have been for the past 6 years. What you are saying is complete BS! No cashier is able to request cash back for you from their side of the register. If the pad is faulty, that is in no way the cashier's fault. Take the money, put it in your bank and make an extra Discover Card payment.

So next time you come to Wal-Mart, please come correct. Nobody is trying to rip you off...

  • @imepshteyn This is so true I've been a Wal-Mart cashier for over a year, and if the pad was faulty, there is no way I wouldn't say anything about it and not go to a register that wasn't. Still it's not Wal-Mart a fault as a whole. Plus, the CUSTOMER picks the amount of cash back they want. I've had so many people press buttons and then blame me >.<

  • stay out of Wal Mart, plain and simple.

  • OH BROTHER.

  • F**k WAL MART AND ALL CORPORATIONS..

  • I work at walmart in madison ms and as soon as I get something else I'm gone not even a 2wk notice. They treat employees like shit. Myself and many others are having our hours cut big time and they don't care, someone even said what if i have to get something else will you work with me on my schedule and was told no, they'll only work with school schedules and then they fuck with your hours enough that you have to either quit walmart and get another job or quit school to get more hours.

  • Please read Snopes comment on this below the page.

Click Snopes website links top right!

    Thanks!

  • @junmeskie what is this song ??? plz let me know

  • @jessyrules1000 It's a remix of Inner Circle's "Bad Boys"

  • at walmarts here u have to slect ift u want cash back ift u dont u got to push no on the pad
