  • I first saw this movie when I was sick and couldn't sleep, so I stayed up, and I happened to catch it on AMC, absolutely loved it.

  • The Gestapo agents did have those cool 3/4 length leather overcoats. 1:00

  • I`ve been to that castle! Built for Ludwig the II

  • THE most self less act in the whole escape is from 1:32 to 2:45 in this segment: Asley-Pitt (David McCallum - The Man From Uncle, Sapphire and Steel) sacrificing himself to save Bartlett (Richard Attenborough - 10 Rillington Place, Gandhi, et al) and MacDonald (Gordon Jackson - Upstairs Downstairs & The Professionals) and TAKING OUT a Gestapo policeman to boot. That would have gor him a DSO.

  • Thanks for uploading this.

  • US Dauntless aircraft as german trainer aircraft ?

  • I loved Ashley-Pitt, but I hated 2:31 .

  • 2:30 Good shot to hit him with a Luger from 100 yds or so.

    I love this film.

  • pause at 2:09..he shot him in the body....and there no blood...

  • God...the musicscore is driving me INSANEEE!!!!

ta ta...taa taaaa ta tata...taa taa ta ta ta t a

  • bless ashley pitt! he got killed so roger could survive.....then gordie jackson had to go ruin it all by saying "thankyou" lord above!!!

  • I think that was David McCallum, of Man from Uncle fame..

  • 2:17 he drops his glasses on guy

    2:41 he has 'em again

  • I think he never actually dropped them, he just took them off. That's why they were in his hand.

  • at 2:31, this part's so sad

  • David McCallum got the hero/martyr scene! YAY! But does anyone know of this movie or TV show he did in the 1960s-early 1970s, where he was either superhuman or a robot, because there was a scene where he got bitten in the neck by a rattlesnake ( he jumped on this guy, to get the snake, but the guy shot the snake, saying "I didn't know, boy, I didn't know!" then he tried to bury him in the sand --but David came back to life. What show WAS that? I couldn't tell by searching his bio.

  • It was NOT the Invisible Man --this show/TV movie predated that one --so it is BEFORE 1974 but AFTER ( or during the time ) he was in The Man From UNCLE.

  • The entertaining comments on this thread only add to the enjoyment o the viewing experience.

  • i absolutely agree w/ u 100%

  • You are such a prude. Lighten up.

  • you are such a perv...get a psychiatrist

  • Who do you think I got the purple dildo from?

  • a seedy little weasel friend of yours

  • I can tell that you are actually attracted to me. I don't blame you!

  • at 8:28 when the German turns around to chase McQueen, that was actually McQueen in a German uniform and goggles, so he was chasing himself. Another sceen cut into this, they didn't have alot of stunt riders

  • Thats really cool! : )

  • omg, funny! so cool

  • every time i watch this i wish they made it to Switzerland! german piece of shit plane lol

  • im sure it was a plane made in usa

  • xCUSE me? r u implying that there's something wrong w/ American planes?

  • i wish that one guy had just been patient and waited for the tug--then none of the killings would have happened.

But, noooooooo, he HAS to get out, whether a nazi is right THERE or not.

    dodo

  • colin plays a blind man so well dunt he

  • You guys will probably believe me, but I'm a normal 13 year old girl who is obbsessed with old movies! I saw my first when I was 4, but anyway, The Great Escape is my favorite movie out of all of them. Ever since my grandpa showed me it, I've been a huge McQueen fan like he is. But it's so annoying because none of my friends in my 8th grade class know what The Great Escape or who Steve McQueen is. I feel weird sometimes lamo. What other 13 year old girls are like huge fans of Steve McQueen? :]

  • I'm 13 too lol

  • stop telling people your age on the internet..this is for your safety...

  • @TheGreatEscapeMovie that would account for you getting confused between 76 and 100's

  • I'm right there with you. Big The Great Escape fan. Same age and everything, too! Actually, I have some big WWII buffs in my class, so I'm sending this whole movie that was so graciously posted by TheGreatEscapeMovie to them.

Thanks so very much TheGreatEscapeMovie! :)

  • Glad to be an assistance.
